  • The information and communication technology that is being developed recently has been greatly influencing the automobile market. In recent years, devices equipped with IT technology have been installed for the safety and convenience of the driver. However, it has the advantage of increased convenience as well as the disadvantage of increasing traffic accidents due to driver 's distraction. In order to prevent such accidents, it is necessary to develop safety systems of various types and ways. In this paper, we propose a method to implement a multi-function camera driving safety system that notifies a pedestrian and lane departure warning without using a radar sensor or a stereo video image, and a study on the analysis of a lane departure alarm software result.

  • 본 논문에서는 운전자의 편의를 위해 직관적인 방향 정보를 햅틱 정보로 전달하기 위한 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템을 구현하기 위해, 햅틱 진동에 방향성을 추가하기 위한 햅틱 기술을 적용하였다. 제안하는 시스템의 작동 과정은 인지와 햅틱 신호 생성으로 나누어지며, 그 과정은 다음과 같다. 인지 과정에서는 차량의 양 측면에 달린 카메라를 이용해 차선을 검출한다. 또한 상단에 부착된 라이다 센서를 이용해 장애물의 방향과 거리를 판단한다. 동적 햅틱 신호 생성 과정에서는 인지된 정보들을 활용하여 차선 이탈과 장애물 충돌의 경보를 구분할 수 있고, 방향성을 포함하는 동적 햅틱 신호가 생성된다. 생성된 신호는 스티어링 휠과 시트에 부착된 진동 모터를 통해 전달된다. 이러한 기능을 갖는 시스템은 로봇을 사용한 시뮬레이션 환경에서 진행되었다.

A Lane Departure Warning Algorithm Based on an Edge Distribution Function (에지분포함수 기반의 차선이탈경보 알고리즘)

  • An algorithm for estimating the lane departure of a vehicle is derived and implemented based on an EDF(edge distribution function) obtained from gray-level images taken by a CCD camera mounted on a vehicle. As the function of edge direction, the EDF is aimed to show the distribution of edge direction and to estimate the possibility of lane departure with respect to its symmetric axis and local mamma. The EDF plays important roles: 1) It reduces noisy effects caused by dynamic road scene. 2) It makes possible lane identification without camera modeling. 3) It also leads LDW(lane departure warning) problem to a mathematical approach. When the situations of lane departure such that the vehicle approaches to lane marks or runs in the vicinity of the lane marks are occurred, the orientation of lane marks in images is changed, and then the situations are immediately reflected to the EDF. Accordingly, the lane departure is estimated by studying the shape of the EDF. The proposed EDF-based algorithm enhanced the adaptability to cope with the random and dynamic road environments, and eventually led to the reliable LDW system.

  • 본 논문에서는 허프변환 및 HSV 색변환을 이용한 효율적인 차선검출의 최적화 알고리즘을 제안한다. 차선 검출의 고속화를 위해 차선과 카메라의 위치를 감안하여 고정된 관심영역(ROI_LB)을 정하고 검출 영역을 감소시킨다. 정해진 관심영역 내에서 허프변환을 적용해 차선을 검출하고 이를 위해 Sobel Mask와 Threshold를 사용한다. 또한, HSV 색 공간을 이용하여 황색 선과 백색 선을 구별해내며 차선 이동 시에 "MOVEMENT"이라는 문자열을, 중앙선을 넘어가면 "DANGEROUS"이라는 문자열을 출력한다. 제안하는 방법의 실험 결과는 복잡한 도로 동영상에서 효과적으로 차선을 인식하고 색 구별을 하였으며 제안 방법의 유효성을 검증하기 위해 다양한 실제 차선 패턴을 대상으로 한 실험결과를 제시한다.

  • This article aims to provide a design method of warning thresholds for active safety systems based on the performance-based approach considering driver behaviors. Both positive and negative consequences of warnings are considered, and the main idea is to choose a warning threshold where the positive consequence is maximized, whereas the negative consequence is minimized. The process of the performance-based approach involves: Defining the operating scenarios; setting the trajectory models, including human characteristics; estimating the alert and nominal trajectories; estimating the performance metrics; generating a performance-metric plot; and determining the alert thresholds. This paper chose a lane-departure warning system as an example to show the usefulness of the performance-based approach. Both human and sensor characteristics were considered in the system design, and this paper provided a quantitative method to include human factors in designing active safety systems.

  • 본 논문은 지능형 안전 자동차(ASV)의 범주인 차선이탈경보 및 방지시스템에 적용을 위한 차선검출 알고리즘을 나타낸다. 그러기 위해서는 차선검출의 높은 신뢰도가 우선 되어야 한다. 대부분의 고속도로는 직선로와 곡선로로 이루어져있고, 곡선 도로는 차선을 검출하는데 여러 가지 제약이 있다. 본 논문에서는 곡선 차선의 직선 근사화를 통한 신뢰성 있는 차선 검출을 위해서 입력되는 연속영상의 효율적인 처리 기법을 제안하고자 한다.

  • This paper proposes a vehicle to road tracking algorithm based on vision sensor by using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). The lateral offset, heading angle, and curvature which are obtained from vehicle to road tracking might be used as inputs to steering controller of LKAS(Lane Keeping Assist System) or for the warning decision logic of LDWS(Lane Departure Warning System). To the end, in this paper, the yaw rate, steering angle, and vehicle speed as well as lane raw points together with considering of vehicle lateral dynamics are utilized to improve the exactness and convergence of the vehicle to road tracking. The proposed algorithm has been tested at a proving ground that consists of straight and curve sections and compared with GPS datum using DGPS-RTK equipment to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

  • Forward collision warning systems(FCWS) and lane change assist systems(LCAS) need regions of interest for detecting lanes and objects as road regions. Watershed segmentation is effective algorithm that classify the road. That algorithm is split results appear differently depending on Watershed line with local minimum in the early part of the seed. If not road regions or vehicles combined the road's seed, It segment road with the others. For compensate the that defect, It has to adaptive change by road environment. The method is that image segmentate the several of regions of interest. Then It is set in a straight line that is detected in regions of interest. If It was detected cars on seed, seed is adjusted the location. And If It wasn't include the line, seed is adjusted the length for final decision the seed. We can detect the road region using the final seed that selected according to the road environment.

  • In this paper, a lane detection algorithm using Eccentricity calculation is proposed. Lane detection is used for lane departure warning which can support safe driving to prevent accidents. In other to enhance the detection rate, we define the Eccentricity calculation which is introduced in graph theory, and evaluate the Eccentricity. The Eccentricity for any straight line is equal to 1, hence computing the Eccentricity allows the implementation of a first order equation. As a results of simulation, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm was enhanced by time and space complexity, and superior to the performance of the conventional lane detections.

  • In the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) of smart vehicle and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for to detect the boundary of lane is being studied a lot of Hough Transform. This method detects correctly recognition the lane. But recognition rate can fall due to detecting straight lines outside of the lane. In order to solve this problems, this paper proposed an algorithm to recognize the lane boundaries and the accumulator cells in Hough space. Based on proposed algorithm, we develop application for Android was developed by H/W verification. Users of smart phone devices could use lane detection and lane departure warning systems for driver's safety whenever and wherever. Software verification using the OpenCV showed efficiency recognition correct rate of 93.8% and hardware real-time verification for an application development in the Android phone showed recognition correct rate of 70%.
