  • Electrical relay in an essential part of smart grids, electrical vehicles, and LED lightning systems. Therefore, studying relay reliability is important. Relays using permanent magnet actuators (PMAs), which are energy efficient, are also in the spotlight. However, most of the permanent magnets used in PMAs have a characteristic wherein the magnetic flux decreases as the temperature increases. When the magnetic flux is reduced, the force acting on the actuator is reduced. Therefore, in this study, we measured the decrease in the relay operating speed with permanent magnet reduction due to temperature rise. In addition, changes in the bouncing phenomena due to magnetic flux reduction were analyzed. As a result, the operating speed of the relay has decreased and the bouncing phenomenon has not significantly changed.

  • Miscibility itnd thermal behavior of blends of synthetic biodegradable aliphatic polyester (Bionolle) with poly(epichlorohydrin) (PECH) were investigated by a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), a dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer (DMTA) and a rotational rheometer. Observed both single glass transition temperatures from the DSC in agreement with the Fox equation and single T$_{g}$ changes as a function of composition from the DMTA indicate that these blend mixtures are miscible. In addition, the miscibility of this blend system was also observed from the single curve of the Cole-Cole Plot of log G′($\omega$) vs. log C"($\omega$) from the dynamic test using a rotational rheometer. This was further verified from the cryogenically fractured surface of BDP/PECH blends by scanning electron microscopy.

  • For the purpose of providing some suggestions in selection of filling materials used in 'sandwich technique', the bond strengths between glass ionomer cement bases and composite resins were investigated and compared. For lining materials, 'Vitrebond' and 'Ketac-fil' were used. Using these two as bases, 10 of each following resins were built up on the top ; Z-100 (light curing resin) Clear-fil (chemical curing resin), Bis-core (dual cure resin), Dyract (compomer), therfore 10 specimens of each group and total of 80 specimens were made. After storing specimens in $37^{\circ}C$ deionized water for 24 hours, the shear bond strengths were measured under universal testing machine with 50 kg of full load scale and 1mm/min of cross-head speed and obtained the results as follows : 1. Over Vitrebond base, Z-100 showed the lowest bond strength but the other three did not show any difference in bond strength. 2. Over Ketac-fil base, Clear-fil showed the highest bond strength followed by Dyract, Bis-core, and Z-100 showed the lowest bond strengths. 3. Whereas Clear-fil showed the similar bond strengths on the Vitrebond base as other resins, it showed the highest bond strength on Ketac-fil base, which showed some difference in bond strength by differing GIC bases. 4. The bond strengths between base materials and composite resin showed a stronger resin-dependence tendency in cases with Ketac-fil bases rather than with Vitrebond bases.

  • The purposes of this study were to evaluate the validity of 2 kinds of digital radiography techniques in evaluating the radiopacity comparison of restorative materials and to determine the relative radiopacities of several kinds of compomer and flow able resin using these techniques. After taking radiographs of an aluminum step wedge, con-elation of optical density calibration curves were evaluated between conventional radiography with transmission densitometer and CD-Dent digital radiography (storage phosphor system) and between conventional one and RVG$^{(R)}$ digital radiography (CCD system). Compomers such as Dyract$^{(R)}$ AP, Compoglass$^{(R)}$, and Dyract flow$^{(R)}$, and flowable resins such as Ultraseal-XT$^{(R)}$ plus$^{TM}$, Revolution$^{TM}$, Aeliteflo$^{TM}$ and Tetric-flow$^{(R)}$ were used. Five specimens of 5mm in diameter and 2 mm thick were fabricated with each material. Radiopacities of the materials were measured using the above radiographic techniques and compared. The results were as follows: 1. When the optical density calibration curves were compared, conventional radiography and both CD-Dent and RVG$^{(R)}$ digital radiographies showed very high inverse correlations (${\gamma}$=-0.95, ${\gamma}$=-0.98 ; p<0.05). 2. All the tested restorative materials showed levels of radiopacity the same as or greater than that of dentin (p<0.05), Radiopacities of Dyract$^{(R)}$ AP, Compoglass$^{(R)}$, and Tetric flow$^{(R)}$ were greater than those of Revolution$^{TM}$, Aeliteflo$^{TM}$, or dentin (p<0.05). 3. Radiopacities of Dyract$^{(R)}$ AP, Compoglass$^{(R)}$, and Tetric flow$^{(R)}$ were shown to be greater than that of enamel when conventional radiography and CD-Dent digital radiography were used (p<0.05). Radiopacity of Dyract flow$^{(R)}$ was shown to be greater than that of Enamel when conventional radiography was used (p<0.05).

  • The purposes of this study were to evaluate the microleakage of class V composite resin restorations utilizing the different curing lights, to assess the flowable resin, $Filtek^{TM}Flow$(3M Dental Products, USA) and composite resin, $Filtek^{TM}Z250$(3M Dental Products, USA) which need 20s curing time for halogen light could replace $Z100^{TM}$ Restorative(3M Dental Products, USA) for the microleakage, and to evaluate the effect of adhesive resin on marginal microleakage. Light curing units used in this study were conventional halogen light, XL3000(3M Dental Products, USA) and plasma arc light, Flipo(Lokki, France). Class V cavities were prepared and each cavity was filled with each composite resin. After being filled, the teeth were stored in distilled water, polished, thermocycled and soaked in 1% methylene blue solution. Following results were obtained from evaluation of the sectioned surface. 1. There was no statistically significant difference in microleakage of $Filtek^{TM}Flow$ and $Filk^{TM}Z250$ between two kinds of curing units(p>0.05). 2. Flowable resin, $Filtek^{TM}Flow$ showed more microleakage than Z100 and $Filtek^{TM}Z250$ regardless of curing units(p<0.05). 3. Adhesive resin reduced the microleakage of composite resin in both halogen light and plasma arc light(p<0.05).

  • Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is concerned with promoting oral infection due to its low antibacterial activity. To overcome this, the nanoparticles of Ag-MSN, nGO, and CNP were mixed with MMA liquid in a weight ratio of 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0% compared to resin powder using Orthocryl from Dentarum, a calibration resin, and then instructed by the manufacturer. Accordingly, a specimen for calibration was prepared by mixing PMMA: MMA (1.2: 1) ratio, and physical properties of the calibration resin, antifungal experiments, and statistical analysis were performed. As a result of antibacterial experiments, the antibacterial properties of Ag-MSN increased. In nGO, the antibacterial adhesive effect increased hydrophilicity, not a change in surface roughness. The higher the CNP concentration, the higher the antibacterial activity. This suggests its potential usefulness as an antibacterial dental material for orthodontic devices and temporary restorations.

  • The bending process for the circular curved tube and rectangular curved tube with fins can be developed by the hot metal extrusion machine with the multiple punches moving in the different velocity. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by the two variables. The one of them is the difference of velocity at the die exit section by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container. The other is the one by the different hole diameter. The results of the experiment show that the circular curved tube with fins and rectangular curved tube with pins can be formed by the extrusion process and that the curveture of the product can be controlled by the velocity of punch and diameter of container hole and that the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube the folding and wrinkling of thin tube and fins did not happen after the bending processing by the extrusion bending machine.

  • The bending phenomenon during extruding one product using four billets can be obtain by the difference of hole diameters in the multi-hole container. The difference of hole diameter caused the difference of billet amount inserted in the die cavity. As results, it can bend during extruding products by the different amount of two billets and by the cohesion of billets in the porthole dies cavity. And the bending curvature can be controlled by the size of holes and billets. The experiments using aluminium material had been done for the rectangular and square curved tube product. The results of the experiment show that the curved aluminum tube product can be bended by the extru-bending process without the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube and the folding and wrinkling. The curvature of product is affected by shape of cross section and the difference of billet diameters. It is known that the welding and extruding and bending can be done simultaneously in the die cavity when a rectangular hollow curved tube would be extruded by porthole dies using four different size billets made of aluminum material.

  • A new extrusion process of the circular section product with helical fins could be developed by rotating extrusion die. The twisting of extruded product is caused by the twisted conical die surface connecting the die entrance section and the die exit section linearly. But, until now, because the process has used fixed extrusion die, it needs high pressure in order to twist billet and form fin shape on the surface of billet. So, during extruding billet, in order not to twist billet, the extrusion die is needed to rotate itself instead of twisting of billet. It is known that it is possible to reduce extrusion load of product with helical fins by analysis and experiments using rotating die. And it is known that, through the extrusion load analysis by $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$ software, optimal rotational velocity of rotating die can be obtained according to reduction ratio of area and twisted angle of die. And experiments and analysis using rotating extrusion die show that the twisted angle of product can be controlled by twisted angle of extrusion helical die and the rotational velocity of extrusion helical die.
