  • Nano-scopic holes which are distributed densely and uniformly were fabricated on $SiO_2$ surface. Self-assembling resists were used to produce a layer of uniformly distributed parallel poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) cylinders in a polystyrene (PS) matrix. The PMMA cylinders were degraded and removed by acetic acid rinsing. Subsequently, PS nanotemplates were fabricated. The patterned holes of PS template were approximately $8{\sim}30\;nm$ wide, 40 nm deep, and 60 nm apart. The porous PS template was used as a dry etching mask to transfer the pattern of PS template into the silicon oxide thin film during reactive ion etching (RIE) process. The sizes of the patterned holes on $SiO_2$ layer were $9{\sim}33\;nm$. After pattern transfer by RIE, uniformly distributed holes of which size were in the range of $6{\sim}22\;nm$ were fabricated on Si substrate. Sizes of the patterned holes were controllable by PMMA molecular weight.

  • The effect of hole size and hole-to-hole distance in the braided and laminated composite was studied in terms of tensile strength, pin bearing strength, and flexural strength of S2-glass fiber braided polyester. The tensile strength reduction with hole size was well fitted with he Whitney and Nuismer's prediction for the laminated composite. The characteristic distance was measured to be about 1.6mm for braided composite and 1.8mm for laminated one. The effect of distance between the centers of two circu lar holes on tensile strength was negligible when the distance between these two holes was larger than 4 times of the diameter of circular hole for both braided and laminated composite. The side effect was diminished when the center of hole was located 3 times farther than the diamet.er of the hole. The pin bearing strengths was decreased with the size of pin hole for both braided and laminated composite.

  • In this research, we focused on the effects of the orifice internal flow such as cavitation and hydraulic flip. The breakup characteristics such as the breakup length and trajectory were measured by changing the orifice diameter (d), the orifice length/orifice diameter (L/d), the injection pressure and the shapes (sharp and round) of orifice entrance to provide a lot of conditions of the orifice internal flow. It is found that cavitation bubbles that occur inside the sharp-edged orifice make the liquid jet ejecting from the orifice turbulent. In the orifices (L/d = 5), the hydraulic flip phenomenon is shown when the injection pressure is high. In case cavitation occurs it breaks up more earlier than that in case of non-cavitation. In case hydraulic flip occurs, since the area of the liquid jet becomes small, the breakup length is also small as that in case of cavitation. But the liquid column trajectories have a similar tendency irrespective of cavitation.

  • Numerical analysis were executed in order to investigate ultimate lateral resistance of roots of vegetation. Ultimate lateral resistances of roots obtained from the assumed values of cohesions were distributed between the values of the two kinds of the existing studies. The ultimate lateral resistance values were more close to those by the bearing capacity solution than those by the cavity expansion theory. Coefficient of bearing capacity determined by the numerical analysis was 33. Yielding displacements obtained from the numerical analysis were 0.08~0.29 times of the diameter of the root and those were overall close to the value of the existing study which was undertaken for the pile diameter of 1 cm.

  • Flexural test of reinforced concrete beam with corroded reinforcement were performed to measure the deflection, curvature and cracking moment for various bar diameter and amounts of corrosion. The amounts of corrosion are varied from 0% to 10% by weight and the bar diameters are chosen as 10mm, 13mm, and 19mm. The changes in reinforcement diameter do not affect the flexural behaviors significantly according to this experiment. If the amounts of corrosion is greater than 2%, the deflection and curvature of the beam increased and the cracking moment decreased. It means that the lower amounts of corrosion does not result structural damage in flexural member significantly as in direct tensile test. A modification factor considering an effect of amounts of corrosion is proposed based on the experiment, which can be used to determine the deflection of reinforced concrete beam with corroded reinforcement.

  • In this study, to examine the effect of the transverse thermal expansion behavior of FRP reinforcing bars and concrete on the concrete cover thickness, based on 20℃, when the temperature changes from -70℃ to 80℃, the behavior of concrete was studied theoretically and numerically. Theoretical elastic analysis and nonlinear finite element analysis were performed on FRP reinforced concrete with different diameters and cover thicknesses of FRP reinforcement. As a result, at a negative temperature difference, concrete was compressed, and the theoretical strain result and the finite element result were similar, but at a positive temperature difference, tensile stress and further cracks occurred in the concrete, which was 1.2 to 1.4 times larger than the theoretical result. The ratio of the diameter of the FRP reinforcing bar to the thickness of the concrete cover (c/db) is closely related to the occurrence of cracks. Since the transverse thermal expansion coefficient of FRP reinforcing bars is three times greater than that of concrete, it is necessary to consider this in design.

  • For simple undirected graph G=(V,E), L(2,1)-coloring of G is a nonnegative real-valued function f : V → [0,1,…,k] such that whenever vertices x and y are adjacent in G then |f(x)-f(y)|≥ 2 and whenever the distance between x and y is 2, |f(x)-f(y)|≥ 1. For a given L(2,1)-coloring c of graph G, the c-span is λ(c) = max{|c(v)-c(v)||u,v∈V}. L(2,1)-coloring number λ(G) = min{λ(c)} where the minimum is taken over all L(2,1)-coloring c of graph G. In this paper, based on Harary's Theorem, we use Tabu Search to figure out the existence of Hamiltonian Path in a complementary graph and confirmed that if λ(G) is equal to n(=|V|).

  • In this work, a depth-by-depth evaluation on the deterioration of concrete is suggested by utilizing disk shaped concrete specimens. Dynamic elastic modulus of cylindrical concrete was measured using a free-free resonance column method and compared with dynamic elastic modulus of disk-shaped concrete measured by impulse excitation technique(IET) and impact resonance(IR). According to the results of the experiment, both IET and IR methods showed a smaller difference in dynamic elastic modulus with smaller deviation in data when thickness of the disk specimen was increased. This trend was more evident from dynamic elastic modulus measured by IR method compared to that measured by IET. Variation in data was also smaller with the IR result. To increase the accuracy of the data, it is recommended to use the IR method for disk specimen with a diameter of 100mm and a thickness of 25mm.

  • In this study, resistance spot welding was performed using a high tensile steel plate SGAFC 780. The shear tensile strength, fracture profile, nugget diameter, and simulation were compared according to the conditions. After the nugget diameter calibration, the minimum diameter of welding was more than 4.3mm when the welding current was 8kVA or more. At 9kVA and above 10kVA, the minimum nugget diameter of 4.3mm was satisfied. On the other hand, due to the high current and time, the fly phenomenon occurred and the deep indentation remained. An evaluation of the weldability confirmed that there was an interval that was evaluated as weld failure due to the creep phenomenon, which satisfied the tensile shear strength and minimum nugget diameter. On the other hand, areas that have sufficient load bearing capacity even when drift has occurred were also identified. The simulation results show that the error rate was less than 4.2% when comparing the nugget diameter in the simulation and the experimental results in the appropriate weld zone, and confirmed the reliability of the simulation.

  • In this study, a new type of eccentric cam was used for the development of a small size reducer with a two-shift reduction ratio while maintaining the same volume as the existing one-shift speed reducer. Therefore, a two-shift speed reducer was designed using the concept of a continuously variable transmission applied to automobiles. The cam was designed to have an eccentric shape with a $180^{\circ}$ phase difference to act as a tensioner to minimize slip by squeezing the V-belt connected to the deceleration pulley and the acceleration pulley, respectively. The cam was designed to have a diameter of 35mm and an outer diameter of 18mm so that the outer portion of the v-belt could contact the cam perfectly. A pulley with a diameter of 50.8mm was installed on the low speed pulley input shaft for deceleration and a pulley with a diameter of 76.2mm was provided on the output shaft. In the high-speed pulley for acceleration, a pulley with a diameter of 76.2mm is provided on the input shaft, and a pulley with a diameter of 50.8mm is provided on the output shaft. Based on the design details, the power transmission efficiency test and the heating characteristics of the transmission were tested to verify the feasibility. In addition, through validation, the suitability of the reducer was demonstrated.
