  • The waste etching solution for chip on film (COF) contained about 3.5% copper, and it was recovered through cementation using iron samples. The effect of cementation with plate, chip, and powder iron samples was investigated. The molar ratio (m/r) of iron to copper was used as a variable in order to increase the recovery rate of copper. As the molar ratio increased, the copper content in the solution rapidly decreased at the beginning of the cementation reaction. Before and after the reaction, the copper content of the solution was determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) using copper concentration according to time. After cementation at room temperature for 1 hour, the recovery rate of copper had increased the most in the iron powder sample, having the largest specific surface area of the samples, followed by the chip and plate samples. The recovered copper powder was characterized for its crystalline phase, morphology, and elemental composition by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. Copper and unreacted iron were present together in the iron powder samples. The optimum condition for recovering copper was obtained using iron chips with a molar ratio of iron to copper of 4 giving a recovery rate of about 98.4%.

  • Recently, Interest in the restoration and 3D reconstruction of cultural properties due to the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral on April 15, 2019 has been focused once again after the 2008 Sungnyemun fire incident in South Korea. In particular, research to restore and reconstruct the actual measurement of cultural properties using LiDAR(Light Detection and ranging) and conventional surveying, which were previously used, using various 3D reconstruction technologies, is being actively conducted. This study acquires data using unmanned aerial imagery of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), which has recently established itself as a core technology in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, and the existing CRP(Closed Range Photogrammetry) and terrestrial LiDAR scanning for the Recumbent Buddha of Unju Temple. Then, the 3D reconstruction was performed with three fusion models based on SfM(Structure-from-Motion), and the reproducibility and accuracy of the models were compared and analyzed. In addition, using the best fusion model among the three models, the relationship with the Polar Star(Polaris) was confirmed based on the real world coordinates of the Recumbent Buddha, which contains the astronomical history of Buddhism in the early 11th century Goryeo Dynasty. Through this study, not only the simple external 3D reconstruction of cultural properties, but also the method of reconstructing the historical evidence according to the type and shape of the cultural properties was sought by confirming the historical evidence of the cultural properties in terms of spatial information.

  • Branched polypropylenes (LCB-PP) with a long chain branch were prepared by the solid-state and molt-state reaction. Divinylbenzene (DVB), 1,4-benzenediol (RES), and furfuryl sulphide (FS) were used as branching agents of fabricate LCB-PP/silicate composites. Chemical structures, thermal properties, and rheological properties of the LCB-PP were determined by FT-IR, DSC, TGA, and dynamic rheometer (ARES). The chemical structure of the LCB-PP was confirmed by the existence of =C-H stretching peak of the branching agent at $3100cm^{-1}$. From DSC and TGA results, the melting reaction was more effective than the solid state reaction in the manufacture of LCB-PP, which was additionally certified by rheological properties. Based on rheological properties, FS was the best for branching efficiency of PP. Compared to PP, LCB-PPs indicated an increase of complex viscosity in the low frequency and shear thinning tendency, and G'-G" plot represented an increase in elasticity and the heterogeneousness in a melt state. Rheological properties of LCB-PP/silicate composites were observed with the silicate content. When 5 wt% silicate was added in LCB-PP, distinct changes in the shear thinning and the slope of G'-G" plots were observed.

  • To investigate the electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI SE) property based on heat treatment effects of carbon fibers in various temperatures, the polyacrilonitrle-based carbon fibers were prepared by electrospinning method and treated at 1073, 1323, 1873 and 2573 K. The surface morphology of carbon fibers was investigated by using FE-SEM and the carbon crystallization was studied by Raman spectroscopy based on effects of reaction temperatures. The electrical conductivity was obtained by measuring the surface resistance with four probe method on carbon crystallization. The permittivity, permeability and EMI SE were investigated by using S-parameter in the range of 800~4500 MHz. In case of carbon fibers treated at 2573 K, the improved carbon crystallization was confirmed by Raman spectrum and the enhanced electrical conductivity showing 54.7 S/cm was also observed. The permittivity was dramatically improved by factor of 4 based on effect of high reaction temperature. Eventually, the highly improved EMI SE value was obtained showing around 41.7 dB.

  • Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), two-dimensional atomic layered materials with direct bandgap in the range of 1.1-2.1 eV, have attracted a lot of research interest due to their high response to light and capability to build new types of artificial heterostructures. However, the large-area synthesis of high-quality and uniform TMDC films with vertical-stacked heterostructure still remains challenge. In this study, we have developed a metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system for TMDCs and conducted a systematic study on the growth of single-layer TMDCs and their heterostructures. In particular, using a bubbler-type organometallic compound sources, the concentration and flow rate of each source can be precisely controlled to obtain uniformly single-layered MoS2 and WS2 films over the centimeter scale. In addition, the MoS2/WS2 vertical heterostructure was achieved by growing WS2 film directly on the MoS2 film, as confirmed by electron microscopy, UV-visible spectrophotometer, Raman spectroscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy.

  • As the interest and demand in the recycled yarn field has increased rapidly worldwide, domestic companies are also promoting research and development and business on recycled yarn. The chemical and thermal properties of four types of virgin and recycled PET samples from A and B company, which are the leading domestic companies in the recycled polyester yarn business, were confirmed through infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Virgin and recycled PET from two companies were compared. FT-IR spectroscopy revealed the typical spectra of PET for both companies and a different peak at 872 cm-1. DSC confirmed that the melting point and crystallization temperature of recycled PET were lower than those of virgin PET. These results indicate that small amounts of contaminants are an important parameter affecting the thermal properties of recycled PET. In the DSC results after seven repeats of the heating and cooling processes, all four samples showed that a lower melting point, crystallization temperature, and low heat flow intensity increased with increasing number of cycles. The results of melting and crystallization enthalpy also showed similar patterns.

  • Radiopharmaceuticals are drugs that contain radioisotopes and are used in the diagnosis, treatment, or investigation of diseases. Radiopharmaceuticals must be manufactured in compliance with good manufacturing practice regulations and subjected to quality control before they are administered to patients to ensure the safety of the drug. Radiopharmaceuticals for administration to humans need to be sterile and pyrogen-free. Hence, sterility tests and membrane filter integrity tests are carried out to confirm the asepticity of the finished drug product, and a bacterial endotoxin test conducted to assess contamination, if any, by pyrogens. The physical appearance and the absence of foreign insoluble substances should be confirmed by a visual inspection. The chemical purity, residual solvents, and pH should be evaluated because residual by-products and impurities in the finished product can be harmful to patients. The half-life, radiochemical purity, radionuclidic purity, and strength need to be assessed by analyzing the radiation emitted from radiopharmaceuticals to verify that the radioisotope contents are properly labeled on pharmaceuticals. Radiopharmaceuticals always carry the risk of radiation exposure. Therefore, the time taken for quality control tests should be minimized and care should be taken to prevent radiation exposure during handling. This review discusses the quality control procedures and acceptance criteria for a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical.

  • Two golden beads (Buyeo 5336) housed at the Buyeo National Museum were discovered in 1993 near the site of an ancient workshop in Neungsan-ri in Buyeo-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Province. These rare examples from the Baekje Kingdom of an application of granulation have maintained their original form intact, and thus serve as important materials for the investigation of production techniques applied. This study analyzed the composition of the golden beads using a portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer, a stereo microscope, and a scanning electron microscope with an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. The manufacturing technique was examined through the observation of the micro-shape and the surface condition and by a composition analysis of the joint part. In both beads, a hole was pierced in a hollow body and the bead was decorated with golden wires around the hole and gold granules in other parts. In some areas, golden granules had been attached to the gold plate and golden wires were then placed over the granules. The purity of both the wires and the granules was analyzed as 23.6 - 23.7K. A high copper content was detected in some of the parts where the granules were attached. The findings of a previous reproduction experiment and study of production methods suggest that the beads were made using the copper diffusion technique.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a hemostatic agent containing aluminum chloride on the shear bond strength of resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) to the dentin of primary teeth. Thirty-six extracted non-carious human primary teeth were collected in this study. Dentin surfaces were cut and polished. The specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups; group I: RMGIC without conditioning; group II: polyacrylic acid (PAA), RMGIC; group III: aluminum chloride, RMGIC; group IV: aluminum chloride, PAA, RMGIC. All teeth were thermocycled between 5.0℃ and 55.0℃ for 5000 cycles. Fifteen specimens from each group were subjected to shear bond strength test and 3 specimens from each group were inspected using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The mean shear bond strength of each group was as follows: 4.04 ± 0.88 MPa in group I, 8.29 ± 1.40 MPa in group II, 1.39 ± 0.47 MPa in group III, 6.24 ± 2.76 MPa in group IV. There were significant differences among all groups (p < 0.001). SEM image of the dentinal tubules were partially exposed in group III and group IV. Fully exposed dentinal tubules were found in group II. In conclusion, aluminum chloride decreased the shear bond strength of RMGIC to dentin, regardless of PAA conditioning.

  • Recently, various stakeholder are interested in microplastic to cause pollution of the marine's ecosystem and effort to conduct study of product's life cycle to reduce pollution of marine's ecosystem. The micorplastic refer to materials of the nano- to micro- sized units and it can be classified into primary and secondary. The primary microplastic mean the manufactured for use in the specific field such as the microbead of the cosmetic or cleanser. also, secondary mean the unintentionally generated during use of the product such as the textile crumb by the doing the laundry. Tire and Road Wear Particles(TRWPs) are also defined as secondary microplastic. Typically, TRWPs are created by friction between the tread compound's rubber of the tire and the surface of the road du ring the driving cars. Most of the generated TRWPs exist on the roadside and some of them were carried to marine by the rainwater. In this study, we perform the quantitative analysis of the TRWPs existed in fine dust at the roadside. So, we collected the dust from the roadside in Chungcheongnam-do's C site with a movement of 1,300 cars per the hour. The collected samples were separated according to size and density. And shape analysis was performed using the Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM). We were possible to discover a lot of TRWPs at the fine dust of the 100 ± 20 ㎛. And we analysis it u sing the Thermo Gravimetric Analysis(TGA) and Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer(GC/MS) for the quantitative components from the tire. As a result, it was confirmed that TRWPs generated from the roadside fine dust were included the 0.21 %, and the tire and road components in the generated TRWPs consisted of the 3:7 ratio.
