  • The 7th science curriculum has the characteristics of humanistic philosophy of education. The humanistic curriculum emphasized learner-centered education, which claims to stand for learners' experiences. This study searched for the significances of the 7th science curriculum, and discussed its tasks and perspectives based on the backgrounds, characteristics, and objectives mentioned in the history of reforming science curriculum. The 7th science curriculum emphasizes learners' experiences and everyday life materials are favored in teaching-learning activities. For the desirable effects related to this commitment, pre-service and in-service training programs are required about the social elements in the nature of science, and everyday life contexts should be examined in views of educational and cognitive perspectives, so the contextual differences between science and everyday life should be clarified.

  • Abusive supervision occurs in a social context in which third-party observers react and interact with the abused victims and supervisors. Despite the importance of third-party observers' behavior in abusive supervision, research on abusive supervision has mainly focused on the dyadic relationship between direct victims and supervisors. Although in recent years research on third parties' reactions to peer abusive supervision has attracted growing attention, there are still insufficient studies examining the topic especially within domestic research in Korea. As such, this study comprehensively reviews empirical studies on third parties' reactions to peer abusive supervision and aims to broaden the scope of research in the field. Firstly, the results of previous studies show that the effects of observed peer abusive supervision are mediated by cognitive and affective processes. Secondly, previous studies are found to investigate the boundary conditions where the effects of observed peer abusive supervision can be amplified or mitigated with regard to various outcomes. Overall, compared to research on direct victims, research on third-party observers of abusive supervision is found to capture a wider spectrum of responses. In order to explain the mechanisms of this phenomena, this study thoroughly examines theoretical assumptions presented in previous studies and categorizes them into five theory types. Finally, this study identifies a couple of central methodological issues, including common method bias and inadequate model specification in the literature and suggests future research directions.

  • The study investigates peer rating, one of the most commonly used sources of performance rating other than those of supervisors. On the whole, both field and laboratory studies indicate that peer assessment is a valid and reliable evaluation procedure, but on average, peer rating is not usually accurate. The aim of the investigation is to explore the relationship of beliefs and attitude about the performance appraisal system as well as a dispositional characteristic as self-monitoring with rating behavior. In particular, the study tests whether the relationship between rating context variables-appraisal self efficacy and appraisal validity- and rating behavior depends in part on the personality of the rater. Data from 445 undergraduate students are analyzed for hypotheses testing. The study finds evidences that the high on appraisal self efficacy and appraisal validity are more likely to affect discriminating rating tendency and to reduce rating level. Results also show that self-monitoring make the moderating effects between contextual factors and rating behaviors. Some implications, future research directions, and limitations are discussed.

  • It needs to be considered that citing is net a static process but a dynamic process which is to produce to reproduce and to distribute knowledge by the interaction between societies surrounding the citer. This study begins by briefly acknowledging that citation is a universal practice in terms of establishing citer's own basis of research on the basis of the relation to previous studies and persuadeing potential citer to cite his/her research product. This study, however, is a preliminary attempt to examine the premise that although citing is a unversal practice. but citer motivations can be influenced by various citation environmental contexts surrounding the citer. This study presented general citation motivations derived from previous studies: (1) substantial motivations - conceptional and methodological citations 2) persuasive motivations - positive, applied, and negative citations, (3) perfunctory motivations - perfunctory and bibliographic citations, and (4) social relation motivations - personal connections and knowledge familiarity citations. In addition, this study identified citation environment factors affecting these citation motivations: (1) citer and documentation factor, (2) social and cultural environment, (3) information environment, and (4) international knowledge system environment. Each citation environment factor presented should be interpreted not as a separate factor, but rather as a close interrelation among these environment factors, Finally, the model of the citation environment factors developed in this study was discussed in the aspects of the relationship between citation motivations and their citation environment factors. This study suggested that further research should be conducted in order to examine these relationships more empirically and citation should be considered as a social product reflecting the interaction between citer and various citation environments.

  • This study is devised out of the recognition that the existing standardization-related research has not sufficiently examined the overall social environment where a standard is actually made and diffused and the roles of the actors and the changes in them in the complex social system where multiple stakeholders exist. Against this backdrop, this study purports to reconstruct the dynamic process of developing and standardizing an innovative technology through a socio-technical approach involved by multiple stakeholders with different interests in the context of a socio-technical institutional environment. The specific goals to achieve the purpose include first, inspecting the characteristics of the interactions between the human actors and between the human and non-human actors in the socio-technical network surrounding a standardization process. Second, the study aimed to observe the activities of the focal actor who led the standardization process and its changing role. To that end, it analyzed the dynamic features of the process of standardizing a HD 3DTV broadcasting technology that took place in South Korea based on the actor network theory. As for the analysis method, the researchers personally took part in the actor network involving the new technology to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the network, applying the qualitative research method of survey and in-depth interviews and exploring the overall dynamics of environment, behavior and technology observed over the course of the entire standardization process.

  • It is widely accepted that one of the main challenges of the 21st century welfare state is how to harmonize 'Old Welfare, Old Risks' which mostly consists of income maintenance programs with 'New Welfare, New Risks' which actively advances social services. It is in this regard that this paper attempts to define the relationship between the income maintenance programs and social services. For this purpose, it analyses social expenditure of 18 OECD countries during 1980-2006, and subsequently attests, if there is a trade-off relationship between the two, using correlation and Granger panel analysis. It duly concludes that the trade-off relationship between the two is not valid in that the two are better understood as a complementary relationship, not substitute relationship.

  • Seongri scholars of the Joseon Dynasty said that portraits were revered as academic teachers, and that the personal meaning was typical. Portraits in the latter phase of Joseon Dynasty have been popular in various contexts, especially in the sense of the texture, the religious church, and the ritual service. The etiquette and written aspects contained in portraits can point out the problems of contemporary society's individualism and attitudes through the expressive and personal approach to the art of painting. The purpose of education is to explore relationships with others, to coordinate myself with others, to have respect for others, and to change the inner workings of individuals. Through this, we can explore and explore personality education elements and find ways to achieve personality education through the exploration of figures using portraits as educational material, the process of making portraits, and the discovery of meaning. Therefore, for systematic appreciation, we are planning to set up an appreciation standard by proposing a 3-step review process applied to the 2015 revised education course.
