  • The purpose of this study is to examine the antecedents of employee's organizational change commitment during organizational change. We propose that leader-member exchange (LMX) and trust in the organization could foster employee's commitment to change. A theoretical model linking the role of leader-member exchange and trust in the organization to affective commitment and normative commitment to organizational change through leadership have tested in a study of 303 respondents from 15 organizations reporting that their organizations were undergoing significant change due to the turmoil environment and M&A. We develop the hypotheses from the prior studies and empirically test them in the context of personnels who have survived from the drastic organizational changes. Based on the analyzed results, we discussed the theoretical implications and limitations.

  • This study examined significant differences in the impact of workplace bullying on emotional depletion and organizational commitment, and used 400 questionnaires to examine whether there would be significant differences depending on social support. As an analysis method, we used SPSS 24 for sample characteristics, SmartPLS 3 statistical programs for verifiable factor analysis, reliability and validity, path analysis, and structural equation models. Studies have shown that bullying in the workplace affects significant positive (+) for emotional depletion, and that emotional depletion affects significant negative (-) for tissue commitment. The influence relationship between workplace bullying and tissue commitment was partially mediated in the direction of wealth (-), and the effect of emotional depletion on tissue immersion was shown to be significant differences in the control of social support. Implications are that bullying in the workplace affects emotional depletion, so corporate efforts to prevent bullying are urgently needed, suggesting that employees can improve their organizational commitment, by using a system or community that can promote communication with their bosses.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of leader-member exchange(LMX) on employee's affective commitment and continuance commitment focusing on the mediating role of job stress. On the basis of theoretical linkages between the constructs, a conceptual model and hypotheses were established. The sample included 482 employees. Structural equation modeling(SEM) was employed to test the hypothesized relationships in the conceptual model. This study shows that the proposed model is reasonably fit to the actual data. Empirical results indicate that LMX has a negative impact on employee's job stress, has a positive impact on employees' affective commitment and continuance commitment. Employees' job stress has partially mediated effect on the relationship between LMX and employees' affective commitment, but has not mediated effect on the relationship between LMX and employees' continuance commitment.

  • This study aims to examine the effects of bureaucratic characteristics, which are the most common in modern library organizations among organizational characteristics of public libraries, on the organizational commitment of librarians. Doing this analysis, 185 librarians from 20 public libraries in the Seoul metropolitan area of South Korea were surveyed to look into the bureaucratic and post-bureaucratic characteristics of each library, such as specialization, hierarchy of authority, system of rules, integration, and participation, and the three dimensions of organizational commitment of affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment. According to this analysis, the hierarchy of authority had a negative effect on affective and normative commitment, while integration had a positive impact on affective and continuance commitment, and participation had a positive effect on affective and normative commitment. The findings, therefore, show that a combination of bureaucratic and post-bureaucratic characteristics, which reduces the hierarchy of authority and strengthens integration and participation, would increase organizational commitment. This study is meaningful in that, through empirical research, it suggests organizational bureaucratic characteristics that would raise organizational commitment in public library organizations.

  • This paper reports on a study testing a model that articulates factors affecting duration of the relationship between exporters and importers. The model posits that affective commitment and calculative commitment influence duration of the relationship. Affective commitment of an importer toward an exporter is hypothesized to be predicted by social satisfaction, which in turn may be predicted by cultural familiarity, perceived similarity, and credibility. In contrast, calculative commitment is hypothesized to be predicted by economic satisfaction, which in turn may be predicted by opportunism and relationship performance. A survey of importers was conducted to test the model. The study results provided support for most of the hypotheses. Theoretical and managerial implications of the study results are discussed too.

Organizational commitment was positively correlated with resilience and job embeddedness and was negatively correlated with emotional burnout; emotional burnout was negatively correlated with resilience and job embeddedness; and resilience was positively correlated with job embeddedness. The factor most significantly affecting organizational commitment was emotional burnout, followed by resilience and job embeddedness. It is therefore necessary to give another consideration to a customized intervention strategy, which involves emotional burnout, resilience, and job embeddedness, in exploring a program that helps clinical dental hygienists maintain and manage organizational commitment efficiently.
