A Study on the Efficient Methods of User Education for School Library (학교도서관 이용자 교육의 효과적인 운영 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to survey the real user educations which are practiced at school libraries in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeongi provinces, to analyze them, and to propose the efficient methods for user education in school libraries. The results of this study are like these: 1) Teacher librarians have to be placed in every school library. 2) Teacher librarians have to develop the education contents for library user education. 3) School libraries ought to be supported by education authorities and school directors. 4) School libraries should practice the user education based on the regular school curriculum. It's thought that it's important to solve the problems like these: teacher librarians' disposition, and the attentions of school directors, students, teachers, and parents, the development of education contents, and the having plenty time for user education.

  • Help-Desk 서비스는 도서관 현장에서 사서가 이용자와 직접 대면하는 서비스로 이용자가 도서관을 이용할 때 일어나는 커뮤니케이션이다. 이는 최초의 지식관리활동이다. 이용자의 요구에 따라다양하게 제공되고 발생되는 Help-Desk 서비스는 이용자 질문-해답서비스, 이용자 교육서비스, 참고정보서비스, 전자우편서비스, 전자게시판, 개인정보관리, SDI, 공개자료, 교수연구지원서비스 등이다. 이 연구는 국내 대학도서관의 Help-Desk 서비스 실태를 조사·분석하여 사서와 이용자 사의의 바람직한 지식관리유형으로서 Help-Desk 지식관리를 제시하고자한다.

  • As the ubiquitous society has come, users' demand for information and education from the library has changed and finally the necessity of change in the traditional information literacy that libraries have provided is on the rise. Based on the pre-judgement that women relatively have weak access to information in the knowledge information society and are in more special environment compared to other user groups, this study aimed to suggest u-Learning information literacy service for women. To this end, literature study, case analysis and questionnaire survey were conducted so that female users' demand for information and education was understood. Based on the results of these performances above, the requirements to develop programs for information literacy education service for female and contents in addition to models were suggested.

  • This study aims to examine users' perceptions of and experiences about archival reference services in a university archive. The study uses the Researcher Survey provided by the Archival Metrics Project to understand users' perceptions about the university archive and users' satisfaction level of facilities and services. Based on the results of the survey among 47 users and the interview with the archivist working in the university archive, this study suggests recommendations for improving archival reference services.

  • 정보사회의 도래로 교육분야에서도 정보공유를 위한 많은 방안들이 제시되고 있다. 인터넷을 통해 전달되는 교육자료의 양은 나날이 증가하고 있지만 정보생산자들이 일정한 표준 없이 나름대로의 기준에 따라 정보를 유통시키고 있기 때문에 이용자가 필요한 정보를 정확하게 찾아내기란 매우 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 인터넷 자원 중에서도 교육자료를 서비스하고 있는 16개 시 도 교육청 및 산하 기관들의 홈페이지 분류체계를 분석하고, 자료의 실제 이용자 및 공급자에 대한 요구자료를 최대한 수렴하여 사실표준에 기초한 교육자료 분류체계를 제안하고자 한다.

Current Practices of the Customized Bibliographic Instructions in Academic Libraries (대학도서관 맞춤형 이용자교육의 운영 현황 분석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the current practices of the customized bibliographic instructions (CBI) at four-year academic libraries in Korea. Among the entire 206 academic libraries, a total of 149 libraries participated in the survey. Study result shows that the libraries providing CBI was 63.1%. The findings of the study revealed the overall picture of the CBI operated in Korean academic libraries. The findings of the study suggested useful strategies to apply in adopting and operating the CBI in academic libraries in Korea.

  • This study reviews academic library users' information needs, use behaviors, and information literacy by examining previous literature related to academic library use study. The information academic library users want most is information about how to use library such as a circulation policy. Only about 10% of library users' information needs requires reference librarian's professional knowledge and skills. The sign and information system of the library should be improved and revised in order to reduce the redundant how-to questions. When academic library users attempt to do subject searches through online library system, they experience difficulties to find the right menu on the library's interface. The study recommends that special efforts should be made for user education for utilizing research information since user's information utilizing ability is unexpectedly low.
