DC Traction Regenerative Energy Storage Devices using Super-capacitor (슈퍼 커패시터를 이용한 직류철도 회생에너지 저장장치)

  • Regenerative energy generated by regenerative braking of DC traction can cause the system malfunction or damage to the rectifier, or malfunction of the power conversion device in power supply system by DC Line voltage rise in feeder line. Regenerative energy storage system using super capacitor is one of the ways to stabilize DC line voltage. In this paper, energy storage system of DC traction system using super-capacitor bank is implemented and using the field measurement data of the station N and the station S on the Line 2, the operation characteristics of line voltage caused by regenerative energy of electric trains are verified. Also, charge/discharge characteristics of super capacitor are verified as well. Thus, we can verify the operation characteristics of super-capacitor bank for regenerative energy storage system installed in DC Traction. And if we can use field measurement data of DC line voltage, we have obtained cost reduction. The stabilization of the system will be improved by measuring the operation characteristics of regenerative energy storage system in certain section operated by DC traction and predicting the capacity and lifetime of super-capacitor.

A Study on the Optimal Design of the Transformer in the PSFB Converter (PSFB 컨버터에서 변압기 최적 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In the Phase Shifted Full Bridge(: PSFB) converter, there are several design factors including power switches, power switches' driving circuits, transformer and inductor, and rectifier stage, etc. Among them, a key factor influencing an optimal performance of the PSFB converter is the design of transformer. Especially, its effect becomes more important in low voltage and high power applications. In this paper, a study on an optimal design of transformer in the PSFB converter is presented. The design equations for the transformer are derived and analyzed in details, and an example design of the transformer for a 12V, 1200W server power supply application is showed as the result of analysis.

  • This paper deals with the output characteristics of resonant PWM inverter type X-ray generators connected to different DC power units i.e. a single phase full bridge rectifier, a three phase full bridge rectifier and a power storage unit(PSU). The quality of X-ray beam depends on the pulsating waveforms of DC voltage supplied to the X-ray tube. In a X-ray generator, the waveform of DC output voltage can be affected from affected from harmonic distortion of DC input power. When a tube voltage waveform is distorted, the property of X-ray beam such as reproducibility, linearity and dose can be reduced. Therefore, we compared DC output waveforms and dose with three type of DC power units and show the experimental results in this paper.

  • In this paper, we propose the beam-steering system using Rotman lens antenna operating at 2.442GHz which is to replace an expensive phase shifter. The overall system consists of the transmission antennas, Rotman lens and switch box. Setting the initial design conditions, it was designed and fabricated satisfying the requirements. From the result tested in the anechoic chamber, it was found that the beam can be steered using Rotman lens in the anechoic chamber. We also visually checked the beam-steering by turning on the LED of the rectenna showing the real-time beam receiving.

  • This paper proposes a new control strategy of bidirectional uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with the performance of active power filter which compensates the harmonics and reactive power. With only one power stage, it is working simultaneously as the AC/DC rectifier/battery charger and DC/AC inverter to the operation of battery charging or back-up power supplying. Therefore the operation of the proposed system can be divided into the modes, such as the active power filter mode and the battery back-up power mode. And a novel closed-loop control strategy is used to calculate the reference current. The performance of the proposed 5[kVA] system is verified by the simulation and experimental results.

  • X-ray equipment used to diagnose a patient has a big defect of a patient's exposure to radiation caused in irradiating X-ray to the human body, ICRP restricts the permissible exposure dose of the human body. A number of studies has been proceeded to reduce these exposures. In this study the high voltage generator with inverter system, which is possible to increase the generation efficiency of X-ray and to control the precise output power was produced. Also, to minimize the ripple which is possible to occur in the direct voltage that is applied to X-ray tube the propagation rectification method was applied and the radiation reproducibility and properties were evaluated to use this for the diagnosis of patient.

  • 본 논문은 1.8kW (4.5kV, 450mA)출력의 마그네트론을 구동하기 위한 2.5kW (5kV, 0.5A) 고전압 DC 전원장치 설계에 대해 기술한다. 무선 전력 전송을 위한 위상배열 시스템에 이용되는 마그네트론의 경우 인가되는 전압의 리플 최소화는 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 소프트 스위칭을 기반으로한 400kHz 이상의 스위칭 주파수로 컨버터를 설계함으로써 출력리플을 저감하고 필터성분을 최소화 하여 전력밀도를 높일 수 있도록 한다. 변압기의 누설인덕턴스 만을 이용하여 공진 인덕터를 구현하고 변압기의 기생 커패시터 성분과 직렬로 스택킹 된 출력 정류 다이오드의 전압 밸런싱을 위한 커패시터를 병렬 공진 커패시터로 활용한 LCC 공진형 컨버터 고밀도 설계에 대하여 기술한다. 또한, 공진전류의 Trapezoidal 해석 및 설계를 통해 도전 손실을 줄일 수 있는 LCC공진형 컨버터 기반의 마그네트론 구동전원 설계에 대하여 상세 기술하고 PSpice를 이용한 Simulation 및 실험 결과를 통하여 개발된 전원의 우수성을 검증한다.

  • For the pitch and yaw axis attitude control of launch vehicle, thrust vector control which changes the direction of thrust during the engine combustion is commonly used. Hydraulic actuation system has been used generally as a drive system for the thrust vector control of launch vehicles with the advantage of power-to-weight ratio. Nowadays, due to the developments of highly efficient electric motor and motor control techniques, it has done a lot of research to adopt electro-mechanical actuator for thrust vector control of small-sized launch vehicles. This paper describes system design and test results of the prototype of direct drive electro-mechanical actuation system which is being developed for the thrust vector control of $3^{rd}$ stage engine of KSVL-II.

High Power Density Open-frame Type DC-DC Converter Module with Constant Current Control (정전류 제어 기능이 부가된 고전력밀도의 개방형 DC-DC 컨버터 모듈)

  • We report the performance of an open-frame type low-voltage high-current DC-DC converter module developed using an active clamp forward converter circuit and single ended rectifier. The converter module is designed with the specifications of an 3.3V output voltage, 30A output current, 100W output power and 36-75V input voltage. The synchronous rectifier is used to reduce the conduction loss at high current level and constant current control using precision PCB resistance is adapted to enhance the over current protection function in the system configuration. A prototype converter module is successfully implemented within 8mm height and quarter brick size (58x37mm) and recorded an $95W/in^3$ power density, 90.6$\%$ efficiency and 0.07$\%$ voltage regulation for the entire Input voltage range, thereby demonstrating its application potentials to future telecommunication electronics.

  • Diode rectifier which can't be controlled output voltage and phase control converter as AC/DC converter have low power factor and harmonics of lower order in the line current. In this paper, three phase PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) AC/DC boost converter is studied to solve these problems. The characteristics of a proposed converter are to control the phase of current without current sensor as a very simple control algorithm using circuit parameters only and to apply sinusoidal PWM method with fixed switching frequency due to a difficult design of input filter and switching device. We simulate for the proposed algorithm that high power factor is achieved and DC link voltage has fast dynamic response without ripple in rectifying and regenerating operation. As a result of experiment with circuit parameter(inductor, capacitor) decided in simulation, the proposed converter had high power factor and reduction of low order harmonics as against diode rectifier.
