Rotating Shift and Daytime Fixed Work Schedules as a Risk Factor for Depression in Korean Police Officers (순환교대근무와 주간고정근무 경찰공무원의 우울감에 미치는 요인에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives: Working at other times than the regular day shift has been reported to be a stressor associated with health consequences and mental disorders as well as disturbance of sleep. In current study, we aimed at investigating the relationship between work schedule, sleep quality and depression among police officers. Methods: Eleven hundreds and forty five police officers (male: 1040, female: 105) completed questionnaires of basic socio-demographic data, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Korean Scale of Occupational Stress (KOSS), Impact of Event Scale - Revised (IES-R) and Center for Epidemiologic Study-Depression (CES-D). Results: After controlling for age, sex and educational level, score of CES-D was correlated positively with the score of KOSS, PSQI and IES-R on partial correlation analysis (r=-0.077; p=0.009, r=0.262; p<0.000 and r=0.421, p<0.000, respectively). Logistic regression analysis revealed that female sex, age, the score of KOSS and IES-R and schedule of rotating shift work predicted higher score than 16 score of CES-D significantly in total subjects (p=0.023, p=0.015, p=0.000, p=0.000 and p=0.022, respectively). Conclusion: Current result suggested that not only female sex, age, higher occupational stress and impact of event scale but also rotating shift work schedule might be related to depression among police officers.

Factors Related to the Subjective Well-being and Depression Symptoms among Elderly in Rural Areas (일부 농촌지역 노인들의 주관적 행복감과 우울에 관련된 요인)

  • Objectives: The present study was directed at revealing the influence of various life styles on the subjective well-being and depressive states, and their related factors among the elderly. Methods: The interviews were given to 454 elderly people aged over 65 (197 male and 257 female) in rural areas of Chungnam Province during the 3-month period from July 1st to Sep. 30th, 2002. The interview contents for the elderly included social demographic characteristics, activities of daily living(ADL) whether independent of others or not, subjective well-being, Zung's self-rating depression scale(SDS), etc. Results: The male elderly showed significantly higher scores in subjective well-being than the female, and with regard to Zung's depression scores, they were significantly higher in the female than the male elderly. Based on the correlation between scores of subjective well-being and its related factors, there was a significant, positive correlation in both sexes with whether or not participation in the social gatherings and the degree of satisfaction with subjective health status. The factors shown to be negatively correlated with depression scores in both sexes were whether or not participation in the social gatherings, the degree of satisfaction with the subjective health status, economic conditions, and ADL scores. The factors influencing on the subjective well-being included depressive states, eating habits, dwelling states, ADL scores, and physical activity. Those influencing on the depressive states were the degree of satisfaction with the subjective health status, physical activity, sexes, smoking, ADL scores, economic conditions, eating habits and whether or not participation in the social gatherings. Conclusions: Consequently, the subjective well-being as well as physical activity and economic conditions were shown to be the important factors for the healthy elderly life.

  • 본 연구는 공수방식이나 기능점수(Funtion Point)방식에 의존해 온 기존의 게임콘텐츠 원가산정 방식의 문제점을 인식하고 이를 대체할 새로운 게임요소점수(Game Element Point) 접근방식 하에서 구체적인 원가산정 방법론을 개발 제시하였다. 게임콘텐츠 원가산정 모델은 게임콘텐츠에 고유한 게임요소를 도출하여 이를 게임요소점수(GEP; Game Element Point)로 환산하고 여기에 게임요소당 단가를 곱하여 원가를 산정하는 형태를 가지고 있다. 또한 제시된 방법론의 실무적용 가능성을 타진하기 위해 게임 개발업체들의 실제원가 자료를 입수하여 실제 개발원가와 GEP방식으로 계산된 원가를 비교 검증하였다. 탐색적 수준의 사례 비교를 통한 검증결과 GEP방식의 적용이 가능하고 또한 기존방식을 대체할 좀 더 실무적이고 정확한 게임 컨텐츠 원가산정 방식으로 사용할 수 있는 것으로 판명되었다.

  • 특정한 기능을 하는 DNA 조각은 특정한 염기 서열들을 가진다. 이를 이용하여 특정 조각의 DNA 서열을 위치 점수 행렬을 이용하여 표현할 수 있다. 하지만 찾고자 하는 DNA 부분들이 완전히 밝혀진 것이 아닐 수 있다. 따라서 현재 밝혀진 정보만을 이용하여 위치 점수 행렬을 만들 경우, 실제 서얼 패턴이 아닌 편중된 정보가 얻어질 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 위치 점수 행렬의 혼합 모델을 이용하여, 각각의 특정 군집들을 대표할 수 있는 행렬들을 구분하여 구성하였다. 본 논문에서는 약 22개의 염기로 구성된 microRNA 서열 중, 초반부의 8개의 염기 서열정보를 이용하여, 이들 위치의 서열상의 특성을 확인해 보고자 하였다. miRNA 서열을 대표하기 위한 위치 점수 행렬들은 구분하여 만들고, EM 알고리즘을 이용하여 학습한다. 학습 결과 얻어진 혼합 모델과 은닉 변수를 통해 microRNA들을 군집화하고, 각각의 군집에 속한 microRNA 서열의 특성을 확인한다.

  • 쇼핑몰 리뷰 생성기는 사용자로 하여금 사용자를 대신해서 리뷰를 생성할 수 있는 기술이고, 옷 상태, 배송 상태, 사이즈와 관련된 세 가지의 카테고리를 이용하여 부분마다 점수를 부여하여 점수에 맞는 리뷰를 생성할 수 있도록 하는 기술이다. 해당 리뷰 생성기는 점수마다 생성되는 리뷰가 달라지기 때문에 다양한 리뷰 생성을 원하는 웹, 앱 쇼핑몰 사이트에서 적용이 가능한 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 KoGPT2를 이용한 리뷰 생성과 카테고리와 점수에 따른 다르게 생성되는 리뷰의 방식을 제안한다. 그리고 두 방식을 결합한 리뷰 생성의 방식을 제안한다. 제안하는 방식들은 카테고리고리 마다 학습하는 모델을 다르게 적용하고 있다.

  • This study sets the cut points of affective achievement scores based on the criteria referenced assessment. The modified Angoff method is applied to the standardized mathematics affect inventory which had validity and reliability. The cut points are set for 6 factors i.e. learning directivity, self control, anxiety, interest, cognizing value and confidence. As the results, among percentages of factor that middle school 2nd grade students in Korea achieved, the proportion of cognizing value is the highest. And there are no difference of the proportions as for gender, differentiated instruction, and region.

The Perception of Aseptic Foods in Cancer Patients (멸균식 개발에 대한 암환자의 인식조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of aseptic foods (sterilized foods with radiation technology) in cancer patients in Busan. The subjects were 192 cancer patients at a hospital. This study was performed through interviews using questionnaires. Patients had perception scores on the need to develop aseptic foods (4.30 points out of 5.00), use aspetic foods (4.06/5.00), and intake aseptic foods (4.04/5.00). Patients less than 59 years old had significantly higher perception scores than those over 60 years old (p<0.05). The scores on aseptic food indicated the importance of various factors, including sanitation (4.86/5.00), good materials (4.82/5.00), nutritional value (4.79/5.00), unused of monosodium glutamate (MSG) (4.66/5.00), taste (4.61/5.00), and reasonable prices (4.60/5.00). The patients who were college graduates showed significantly higher scores and importance in good materials, proper packaging unit, simple cooking methods, food diversity, and familiar foods (p<0.05). In the aseptic menu items, patients wanted to include seasoned raw vegetables (4.11/5.00), a set menu (including cooked grain, soup, and a side dish) (4.08/5.00), seasoned cooked vegetables (4.04/5.00), low sodium kimchi (3.98/5.00), and fermented sauces (3.92/5.00). The patients with gastrointestinal cancer and other cancers (e.g. breast, thyroid, and renal cancer) had significantly higher necessity scores than lung patients for stew, seasoned raw vegetables, salad, low sodium kimchi, and a set menu (p<0.05).

Demands for Health Education through Internet in Middle and High School Students (중.고등학교 학생들의 인터넷을 이용한 보건교육 요구도)

  • Background: It is important to provide health education to students to ensure a healthy life. Using the internet for health education may be a way to overcome the practical barriers to health education such as time and content. This study was conducted to investigate the demands for health education using the internet. Subjects and methods: Six hundreds and twenty-four and male female students in middle and high schools, who lived on Gyeongju-si and Seongju-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do province, were interviewed by means of structured questionnaires, from March 5 to March 28, 2003. Results: More than 90% of the subjects had their own computers, and nearly 38% of those possessing their own computers had accessed internet sites related to health and medicine. Middle school students and in particular, female students were more desirous for health education through e-mail. Regarding content, the three major topics which the respondents wanted to learn about were healthy lifestyles, growth and development, and disease prevention. In terms of the interval for providing educational materials, over half of the students wanted information once a week. Most of the students wanted to have the quantity of the material be one page. In addition, there were numerous additional topics requested by the students such as sleep and health, contraception and family planning, safety education, cancer prevention, emotional instability of juveniles, the utilization of medical care facilities, stress management, etc. Conclusion: The students had a desire for health education through the use of e-mail, and methods and materials should be developed for appropriate health education using the internet.

EFFECT OF LASER IRRADIATION AND FLUORIDE APPLICATION ON REMINERALIZATION OF ERODED PRIMARY DENIAL ENAMEL (침식된 유치 법랑질에 대한 레이저 조사 및 불소도포의 재광화 효과)

  • The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the remineralizing effects of Nd : YAG laser irradiation and fluorides application on primary tooth enamel eroded by acidic drink. The materials were 30 sound primary teeth with intact smooth enamel surfaces. They were demineralized with Coca-cola at $37^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours and then irradiated by Nd: YAG laser with 6W power, $50mJ/cm^2$ energy density. and 20Hz pulse repetition. After laser irradiation, teeth were treated by three kinds of fluorides : (1) 0.05% NaF solution, (2) 1.23% APF gel and (3) 0.1% fluoride varnish. Diagnodent scores and microhardness (VHN) were measured before and after the each treatment. The results were as follows: 1. Diagnodent scores decreased to 23.51% from the initial after demineralization, and then increased to 37.37% after laser irradiation, and to 51.34% after fluoride treatment. There were significant differences between the total scores of initial, demineralization, laser irradiation and fluoride treatment (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between scores after fluoride treatment according to fluoride types. 2. Microhardness(VHN) decreased to 33.58% from the initial after demineralization and then increased to 43.99% after laser irradiation, and to 51.38% after fluoride treatment. There were significant differences between the total scores of initial, demineralization, laser irradiation and fluoride treatment (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between scores after fluoride treatment according to fluoride types.

A Six-Year Study of Relationship between Academic Performance in Dental Hygiene School and Performance on the Korean Dental Hygiene Licensing Examination at Yonsei University (Y-대학교 치위생학과 졸업생의 학교 성적과 국가시험 성적의 상관성)

  • This study was aimed to define the predicting factor account for the Korean Dental Hygienist Licensing Examination (KDHLE) by analyzing the academic grade score and the KDHLE score. The subjects included 185 graduates (2007, 2009, 2011~2014 graduates). The ratio of successful applicants of the subjects was 99.2%. The academic grade scores were calculated to grade point average, the KDHLE was scoring marks out of 300 (200 of written examination score and 100 of performance evaluation score) for correlation and regression analysis. The graduation grades and comprehensive examination scores correlated significantly with the KDHLE written examination scores (correlation coefficient=0.612), and KDHLE total score (correlation coefficient=0.258). First~third grade score and comprehensive examination scores correlated significantly with KDHLE total scores (p<0.05). Especially, there are the highest correlated between second comprehensive examination scores and KDHLE total scores (correlation coefficient=0.455), the last score in time sequence is the important factors account for the KDHLE total score. But there is no correlation between academic grade score and KDHLE performance evaluation scores, therefore it is necessary to study for determine the reason. The results of multiple linear regression analysis, second grade score and the average score of comprehensive examination were the main predicting factors account for the KDHLE total score, the explanatory power was 31.6%. Our results show that KDHLE total and written examination scores are predicted by the academic grade score reliably, but not the KDHLE performance evaluation scores. Further studies are needed to determine relationship between dental hygiene education and KDHLE.
