  • Recently, portion of the aged population has been increased, and aging became the biggest issue that we will be facing in the future. As the aging population has increased, the silver generation is getting to account for the considerable percent of economic activities and becomes the main body of production and consumption. Although the economic activity of silver generation is increased, the development of silver contents for the leisure activities is still not revitalized. The serious silver contents and the easy-to-use interface are very important because the silver generation is relatively weaker than young people in perception, studying, and exercise, and is fragile in mobility and vitality. This paper suggests the Sensory 3D Gate-Ball game for silver generation's leisure and health maintaining along with the easy-to-use interface.

  • Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, which is also commonly referred to as Kikuchi's disease (KD), is a self-limiting disease of unknown etiology. It affects individuals of all ages, although it is usually seen in young women. However, only a few descriptions of this disease are available in the pediatric literature. KD is clinically characterized by cervical lymphadenopathy, high fever, myalgia, neutropenia and, rarely, cutaneous eruptions. Cutaneous manifestations have been reported in 16-40 percent of KD cases. The specific skin changes occurring in cases of KD have yet to be completely characterized. In most of the reported cases thus far, the lesions have been located on the face and upper extremities. In this report, we describe a case of pediatric Kikuchi's disease, occurring in a 9-year-old boy. The boy exhibited transient erythematous maculopapular skin lesions over the entirety of his body, including his lower extremities.

  • Three cases who had medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee (Kellgrene-Laurence grade 3 and Outerbridge grade 4) and anterior instability of the knee due to rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in relative young ages underwent staged anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction followed by medial unicondylar arthroplasty in 2 cases and simultaneous anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and unicondylar arthroplasty. We evaluated clinical results some kinds of preoperative and postoperative International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC), Lysholm score and last follow-up hospital for special surgery (HSS), knee society score (KSS). We consider that medial unicondylar arthroplasty with staged or simultaneous anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is very good option of the treatment for the anterior instability and pain from advanced arthritis.

  • In 1977, Robinson & Martinez described a distinct varient of ameloblastomas in which the response to curettage was found to be favorable, with a recurrence rate of 25%. They referred to this varient as unicystic ameloblastoma. Unicystic ameloblastoma occur most commonly in the second and third decades of life, which is considerablly younger than the average age of discovery for the classical ameloblastoma. For the accurate histopathological diagnosis of the unicystic ameloblastoma, the specimen obtained the excisional biopsy, complete enucleation or incisional biopsy from the multiple site of the lesion. The purpose of this report is to review of the literature and to present three cases in which an unicystic ameloblastoma appear to be arising in the wall of a dentigerous cyst.

  • Tuberculosis, a chronic infectious granulomatous disease, is presumed to be quite a rare entity. Because of the development of chemotherapy and the improvement of nutritional conditions, incidence of tuberculosis have reduced. For these reasons, tuberculosis may be overlooked in the differential diagnosis whenever dealing with a submandibular swelling. Diagnosis of tuberculous lymphadenitis consists of historical data, physical findings, laboratory tests and histologic examination. The treatment of choice seems to be surgical excision and long term antituberculosis chemotherapy. Surgery provides a rapid tissue diagnosis, because the histological examination of the excisional biopsy is the most reliable diagnostic test. This is the report of a case of tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis on left submandibular area with no evidence of the involvement of lung.

  • Focusing on the factors related to the amount of contact between young married women and their noncoresident parents and their noncoresident parents-in-law, the study hypothesized two scenarios. (1) filial piety scenario which predicts that the contact with one set of parents is not affected by accessibility of other set of parents, and (2) competition scenario which predicts that ease of contact with one set of parents inhibits contact with other set of parents. These scenarios were tested against the data from National Fertility and Family Health Survey in 1994. The regression analysis of intergenerational visits appeared to support the competition scenario : The parents-in-law and the parents seem to bs in competition for visits by young married women - distance from the parents from one side has a parallel relationship to more frequent visits with the other set of parents. This is a much more equal footing for both sides of the family than attention to filial piety would predict. although the level of support from the young generation may keep declining.

  • This study discusses spatial distribution of the silver towns in the Seoul metropolitan area and investigates how the residents recognize their silver towns through in-depth interviews. Nowadays there are many elders who prefer to live in urban downtown or suburb areas which can be connected with the places of their pre-retirement lives. Therefore, the silver towns in the Seoul metropolitan area have been increasing. The facilities are mainly located in northern part of Seoul and southern part of Gyeonggi province near the network of major express roads. Location and accessibility are more important than any other factors when the elderly contemplate moving into silver town. Silver town residents are likely to have meaningful times and positive identities by communicating with friends there. The elders aged 80 years or older living in silver towns think the silver towns as their home while 'young old' people complain their limited rights of decision making and they consider additional move.

  • Bronchopulmonary infections caused by trichomonads have been reported principally in patients with pre-existing pulmonary diseases, such as bronchial carcinoma, lung abscess, or bronchiectasis. Pulmonary trichomoniasis is most often caused by Trichomonas tenax, which is usually regarded as a harmless commensal organism of the human mouth. However, pulmonary infection may rarely be caused by other trichomonas species, including Trichomonas vaginalis from the genitourinary tract and Trichomonas hominis from the intestines. Because of the rarity of trichomonas pulmonary infection, and because of its close association with underlying lung and systemic disease, pulmonary trichomoniasis is considered an opportunistic infection. We recently treated a case of pulmonary trichomoniasis occurring in a young, healthy male without obvious underlying pulmonary or systemic illness. To our knowledge, there has been only one reported case of pulmonary trichomoniasis in Korea, and there have been only two reported cases of pulmonary trichomoniasis occurring in normal lung worldwide.

  • Pulmonary eosinophilic granuloma, a rare form of Langerhans cell histiocytosis confined to lung, has no known etiology and variable natural history. It is characterized by discrete proliferation of Langerhans cells. It is known that over 90% of the patients are cigarette smokers, and it is rarely reported in non- or passive-smoking patients, especially female. Here we describe a case of pulmonary eosinophilic granuloma in a passive-smoking, reproductive female patient presented with spontaneous pneumothorax. We identified S-100 and CDla positive histiocytes on immunohistochemical stain of the lung tissue obtained by open lung biopsy.
