Electromagnetic Actuators for Drug Delivery Mini-Pump (약물 공급 미니펌프용 전자기 액츄에이터)

  • In this paper we propose a new model of a mini-pump with peristaltic motion and present the results of the finite element analysis of an electromagnetic micro actuator. The mini-pump consists of three diaphrams made of PDMS, three permanent magnets in cylinders, printed copper coils on glass substrates, and input and output port. The size of the mini-pump is $14\;{\times}\;40\;{\times}\;5.4$ mm3 and the permanent magnet diameter 6.2 mm $\times$ thickness 2 mm. The electromagnetic force applied on the magnet was about 0.84 N when the current of coils was 1 A, then the maximum displacement of the PDMS diaphram was about 2mm.

A Fast Locking Phase-Locked Loop using a New Dual-Slope Phase Frequency Detector and Charge Pump Architecture (위상고정 시간이 빠른 새로운 듀얼 슬로프 위상고정루프)

  • This paper presents a new fast locking dual-slope phase-locked loop. The conventional dual-slope phase-locked loop consists of two charge pumps and two phase-frequency detectors. In this paper, the dual-slope phase-locked loop was achieved with a charge pump and a phase-frequency detector as adjusting a current of the charge pump according to the phase difference. The proposed circuit was verified by HSPICE simulation with a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS standard process parameter. The phase locking time of the proposed dual-slope phase-locked loop was $2.2{\mu}s$ and that of the single-slope phase-locke loop was $7{\mu}s$.

  • PMIC chips based on a BCD process used in automotive semiconductors require multi-time programmable (MTP) intellectual property (IP) that does not require additional masks to trim analog circuits. In this paper, MTP cell size was reduced by about 18.4% by using MTP cells using PMOS capacitors (PCAPs) instead of NMOS capacitors (NCAPs) in MTP cells, which are single poly EEPROM cells with two transistors and one MOS capacitor for small-area MTP IP design. In addition, from the perspective of MTP IP circuit design, the two-stage voltage shifter circuit is applied to the CG drive circuit and TG drive circuit of MTP IP design, and in order to reduce the area of the DC-DC converter circuit, the VPP (=7.75V), VNN (=-7.75V) and VNNL (=-2.5V) charge pump circuits using the charge pumping method are placed separately for each charge pump.

A Study on the Performance Characteristics of Water Heat Source Heat Pump System using CO2 Refrigerant (이산화탄소를 사용한 수열원 히트펌프 시스템의 성능 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, performance characteristics of a water source heat pump system using $CO_2$ as a refrigerant are investigated experimentally. Cooling and heating capacities and COP of the system are analyzed for various system performance variables such as refrigerant charge, expansion valve opening, compressor frequency and internal heat exchanger. Results show that optimum amount of refrigerant charge and expansion valve opening exists at maximum point of COP curve, and cooling capacity increases but COP decreases with the increase of compressor frequency. When the internal heat exchanger is installed, cooling capacity increases about 4.0% whereas heating capacity decreases about 0.89% compared to the case without internal heat exchanger.

  • A DC-DC converter for CMOS image sensors in bio-sensor chips is proposed. The DC-DC converter generates a PCP voltage, that is an on voltage of a pixel, and an NCP voltage, that is an off voltage of a pixel. The PCP voltage with a ripple voltage of within 1.33V is obtained from a positive charge pump of VPP (=5V) with a ripple voltage of 45.35 by using a regulator. Also, the NCP voltage with a ripple voltage of 0.05mV is obtained from a negative charge pump of VNN (=-2V) with a ripple voltage of 62.8 by using a regulator.

  • This paper presents the design of dual mode boost converter for energy harvesting. The designed converter boosts low voltage from energy harvester through a startup circuit. When the voltage goes above predefined value, supplied voltage to startup circuit is blocked by voltage detector. Boost controller makes the boosted voltage into $V_{OUT}$. The proposed circuit consists of oscillator for charge pump, charge pump, pulse generator, voltage detector, and boost controller. The proposed converter is designed and fabricated using a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The designed circuit shows that minimum input voltage is 600mV, output is 3V and startup time is 20ms. The boost converter achieves 47% efficiency at a load current of 3mA.

  • This paper is a study on integrated air-conditioning system for 1-ton class commercial vehicle based on electric vehicle. In the case of an electric commercial vehicle, since the opening and closing of the door is frequently performed in order to get in and out of the cargo, the heat loss largely occurs. Therefore, the heating and cooling load is required to be larger than the electric vehicle. As a result, the energy consumed by the heating and cooling system is larger than the passenger electric car in order to satisfy the heat comfort required by passengers. In order to overcome these disadvantages, we performed research using an efficient integrated air conditioning system. Finally, the design and analysis of a heat pump system for heating and a electrical compressor for cooling need to be proceed to develop a high-efficiency air conditioning system for improving the commerciality of 1 ton-class electric trucks and expanding the industrial ecosystem in the electric truck sector.

  • 저압 개폐기는 에어컨, 냉동기, 쇼케이스, 산업용 청소기, 전기 온수기, 건조기, 공조기, 펌프, 콤프레셔 등의 모터제어 및 히터와 조명기기의 개폐 등에 광범위하게 이용되는 개폐장치이다. 저압 전자개폐기는 수 천회에서 수백만회까지 빈번한 개폐사용조건으로 인해 시험규격에서는 개폐시험을 통해 수명을 검증하도록 되어 있다. 이 개폐시험 회로는 규정된 전압, 전류, 역률 조건을 맞추기 위해 저항과 리액터를 직렬 연결하여 구성한다. 또한 모터와 같은 리액터 부하를 개폐하는 개폐기의 경우는 전류차단 순간 과도회복전압의 피크비와 주파수를 규정하여 적용하고 있다. IEC60947-1에서는 과도회복전압의 피크비와 주파수에 대한 규정값을 제시하고 있으며 제시된 값을 제어하기 위한 회로를 제시하고 있다. 과도회복전압의 피크비와 주파수는 개폐기 접점의 절연성능과 밀접한 관계가 있으며 수명에 치명적인 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 LS산전(주) 부하개폐시험 회로의 과도회복전압 조건과 영향을 설명하고 제어하기 위한 저항과 커패시터를 적용하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다.

  • This paper describes design and implementation of a spread spectrum clock generator(SSCG). The proposed architecture generates the spread spectrum clock controlling a input voltage signal for VCDL(Voltage Controlled Delay Line). Spread charge pump is controlled by the SSC modulation logic block provides a control signal to VCDL through LPF in DLL. By using this architecture, chip area and power consumption can be reduced because it is not necessary additional circuit to control modulation rate. This circuit has been designed and fabricated using the UMC 0.25um CMOS technology. The chip occupies an area of 290${\times}$120um^2.

A Study on Performance Characteristics of Heat Pump System on Cooling Mode for Light-duty Commercial Electric Vehicles (EV 상용차용 히트펌프 시스템 냉방 운전 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The cooling performance of heat pump system for light-duty commercial electric vehicle was evaluated experimentally. The cooling performance characteristics of the heat pump for light-duty commercial electric vehicles were evaluated by varying the temperature, flow rate of chiller coolant, and electric compressor speed, under the exterior air temperature of 35 ℃ and interior air temperature of 25 ℃. Increasing the compressor speeds decreased the cooling system efficiency by 16.4 % on average with the cooling capacity increasing by 8.0 % on average and the compressor work increasing by 27% on average. To use waste heat from the coolant to chill power electronic components, such as the motor and inverter, a chiller was installed to transfer heat between the coolant and refrigerant. Increasing the temperature of the chiller coolant from 35 ℃ to 55 ℃ decreased the efficiency by 18.2 % on average due to higher condensing heat source. Increasing the coolant flow rate from 10 liter/min to 20 liter/min did not affect the cooling capacity of the system due to a similar total condensing heat transfer rate at the chiller and the exterior heat exchanger. In future works, heating performance will be investigated by varying the operating conditions to use the chiller's waste heat with an improvement of heating capacity.
