  • This paper conducts a comparative analysis of the KORUS FTA and the TPP Agreement to assess the current state of affairs in international trade rules for the pharmaceutical industry. Intellectual property rights as well as public health related regulations have evolved to strengthen the position of innovator drug companies. In particular, the TPP Agreement which adopted data exclusivity for biologics for the first time, will set the standard for the future. Apart from this however, the TPP Agreement has not gone further than the KORUS FTA and in some respects, even contains greater policy flexibilities and provisions for market access than the KORUS FTA. Korea should take advantage of such differences when and if she must engage in negotiations to join the TPP Agreement or a renegotiation of the KORUS FTA.

  • Gyeongin Port has low awareness, insufficient hinterland infrastructures, and lower competitiveness. So, in this study, we conducted Fuzzy-IPA analysis reflecting the recognition of the consignor companies that are using Gyeongin port to suggest present practical improvement measures for the activation of the operation of Gyeongin port hereafter. As a result of the analysis, three factors, that is, cargo loading/unloading/storage costs, port facility fees, and incentive and support were derived as priority investment areas. Three factors, that is, cargo safety, infrastructure equipment, and inland transportation costs were derived as the areas for maintenance strengthening and factors related to cargo handling and service factors were derived as areas for maintenance of the status quo and areas for gradual improvement, respectively. This study is significant in that it analyzed the recognition of the consignor companies that are using Gyeongin port using a quantifying method and suggested realizable measures for activation based on the results of the analysis. In future studies, the frequency of ships' calling at the port and measures to diversify the sea routes should be additionally reflected on the analysis.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide directions to help enter and expand long-distance routes by analyzing the characteristics of AirAsia X's network construction with Malaysia Airlines. To this end, long-distance route data was extracted from the OAG Schedule Analyzer and the network was analyzed on a two-period basis using SNA. Since AirAsia X's entry into long-range routes, Malaysia Airlines has steadily reduced its routes across the entire region. On the other hand, it is analyzed that AirAsia X is building an expanded network by increasing its network in Northeast Asia instead of ultra-long range routes. Studies have shown that LCCs also have potential growth in the long-distance route market of less than 7,000 km. The results of this study may help LCC establish a long-distance market entry and network deployment strategy.

First of all, the questionnaire was conducted for Korean ship owners after selecting the evaluation factors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of the perception and response strategy of Korean ship owners by corporation size and main vessel type using frequency and cross analysis. It is confirmed that various researches on SOx emission reduction have been carried out from various points of view at home and abroad. In this study, existing studies related to technical factors for regulatory response and economics analysis were examined and evaluation factors were selected. As a result of analysis, it is found that large-sized shipping companies are more prepared for regulatory response than small and medium-sized bulk carrier owners. There were similar perception and the direction of response strategy about the impacts by corporation size and main vessel type. In about two years to be implemented in 2020, It is necessary to find an appropriate response strategy based on the support policy of the government and related organizations and the systematic analysis of the ship owners. Through this study, although the difference between the perception and response strategy of the ship owners by corporation size and main vessel type was understood, it was found that there were limitations on specific response strategy and corporate data collection. In future research, we should overcome the limitations of this study and conduct an in-depth study.

  • ASEAN is emerging as the next-generation market following BRICs. Korea is also an important economic cooperation partner as a second trading partner and third target for overseas investment. ASEAN is attracting attention as an attractive business place for many companies as a future investment area in the future. Therefore, the Korean government is strongly promoting a "New Southern Policy(NSP)" to develop cooperative relations with ASEAN. As ASEAN has recently emerged as a central area for shipping and logistics development, development cooperation and support for the shipping and logistics sector in the ASEAN region of neighboring countries are also active in entering the new southern region and the government is supporting it. In order to enter these countries, it is necessary to accurately understand the investment attraction system, strategy, and market for entering the business in other countries. Among the various methods of entering the overseas market, it is essential to understand the business selection and establishment method suitable for localization strategies such as foreign direct investment and establishment of foreign corporations. In order to understand the Overseas Investment Act and the Corporate Establishment Act of shipping and logistics-related companies who want to enter marine ASEAN countries, we will study the overseas investment method and the establishment method according to the type of company.
