How Small Business Competitive Strategies Affect Business Performance by CEO leadership types (소기업 경쟁전략과 CEO 리더십 유형이 기업성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper investigated the role of CEO leadership in the relationship between Korean small firm's competitive strategy and performance. This study conducted an empirical analysis by collecting data through a questionnaire survey targeting small firms in Korea. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the competitive strategies of small firms all had a positive effect on the performance, and it was found that a strategic consistency rather than the type of strategy was positive for firm performance. Second, it was found that the type of leadership of the CEO should also be changed according to the type of strategy. Specifically, it was found that transformational leadership was more appropriate for differentiation strategies, and transactional leadership was more appropriate for cost advantage strategies. This study clarified that the pursuit of a strategic consistency is more important than the type of strategy in the competitive strategy, and that the CEO needs to pursue an appropriate leadership style according to the competitive strategy.

  • This paper examines the impact of the strategic leadership of CEOs after M&A on resistance to change and on perceived performance. Most M&A research has focused on the strategic, financial and economic aspects, while studies on leadership and employee behavior have been limited. CEO leadership is critical to a successful M&A. Recently, strategic leadership has been attracting more attention. Strategic leadership can be defined as a person's ability to anticipate, envision, maintain flexibility, think strategically and to work with others to initiate changes that will create a viable future for an organization. It can also reduce resistance and improve perceived performance. So this paper used empirical studies from the IT industry after M&A.

  • This study aims to examine the impact of Self-leadership(behavior- focused strategies, natural reward and constructive thought pattern to Technology Innovation. Hypotheses were tested by surveying 306 employees at Gumi Industrial Complex. The findings are as follows : First, two factors of Self-leadership had a significant positive effect on the product innovation except constructive thought pattern strategies. Second, two factors of Self-leadership had a significant positive effect on the process innovation except constructive thought pattern strategies.

  • The purpose of this study examines how the self-leadership in organization affects citizenship behavior and which types(transformational leadership, transactional leadership) of leadership can moderate between self-leadership and organizational citizenship behavior. Hypotheses were tested by surveying 255 employees in small and medium enterprises. we conducted exploratory factor analysis for two constructs(behavioral strategy, cognitive strategy) using oblique rotation method that did not assume independence among the factors and main factors of self-leadership were grouped together by two factors. The results of this study are as followings; First, all factors of self-leadership had a significant positive effect on the organizational citizenship behavior. Second, only transformational leadership moderated between cognitive strategy of self-leadership and organizational citizenship behavior.

  • This study investigate the youth perceived importance of entrepreneurship education program on the self leadership strategy. The findings are as follows: First, the creativity category of entrepreneurship education were positively related with behavior focused self leadership, natural reward self leadership strategy and constructive thought self leadership. Second, the management category of entrepreneurship education were positively related with natural reward self leadership strategy. Third, the patent category of entrepreneurship education were positively related with behavior focused self leadership and constructive thought self leadership. Consequently, when the youth recognized the importance of management, creativity and patent category, the level of self control, self reward and self efficacy were increased.

  • 조직에는 조직의 목적을 효율적으로 달성할 수 있도록 조직구성원들을 움직이게 하는 리더가 존재하게 된다. 조직 내에 달성해야 할 비전과 목표가 있고 그것을 수행해야 할 과업에 있어서 가장 필요한 것은 구성원들의 비전과 목표를 달성하기 위한 리더십이 중요한 요인이다. 리더십은 비전과 목표달성을 위해 다른 사람들의 행동에 영향을 미치는 과정이기 때문이다. 따라서 모든 유형의 집단이나 조직, 그리고 지역사회나 국가에는 효과적인 리더십이 필요하고 그 같은 효과적인 리더십을 발휘할 유능한 리더가 요구된다. 따라서 리더십은 모든 집단이나 조직의 중요한 자산이며 성공요인이 아닐 수 없다. 특히 중소기업의 경우 기업경영전반에 걸쳐 경영자의 기호나 의도에 따라 수시로 변하는 경우가 많고, 최고 경영자의 개인적 속성이 조직구조나 전략에 적지 않은 영향을 미치기 때문에 최고경영자의 리더십이 중소기업의 조직문화 형성에 대기업보다 훨씬 많은 영향을 미치고 있다. 변혁적 리더십은 사장이 카리스마, 지적자극, 개별적 배려 등을 통해 종업원들에게 기대를 능가하는 최고의 노력을 발휘하도록 동기부여 시키는 것이다. 변혁적 리더십을 발휘하는 사장은 종업원들의 욕구수준을 높여 주고 자신감을 심어줌으로써 성공에 대한 확신을 높여준다면 종업원들로 하여금 조직에 대한 몰입을 이끌어 낼 수 있고, 보통이상의 추가노력과 낮은 이직의도를 거둘 수 있다는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 연구와 관련된 선행연구자들을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 연구모형을 설계하여 중소제조업체의 CEO들에게 요구하는 리더십모형을 제시하였다. 중소기업의 리더십 유형을 카리스마적, 전략적, 거래적, 변혁적 이론 등을 기본으로 하여 기업에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 이론을 통해 제시하였다. 이러한 리더십 유형들이 기업의 목표에 영향을 주는지를 분석한 후 여기에서 중소기업의 CEO에게 필요로 하는 리더십 유형을 제시하였다.

  • M&A is an important strategic decision made to ensure the competitiveness of companies and cases of M&A have been increasing in recent years. But the success of an M&A is not assured. In order to succeed, there should first be a well managed strategic leadership by the CEO and an integration strategy. Companies need also to overcome the resistance to change among members. A successful example of an M&A is that of LG Chem and Hyundai Petrochemical. By using this M&A as a case study, the influence of the CEO's Strategic Leadership, and the Integration Strategy on Resistance, Acceptance and Performance were assessed. For this study, research was conducted on CEO Strategic Leadership and Integration Strategy before members of LG Chem (DAESAN PLANT) were interviewed on the M&A's implementation by LG Chem's HR staff, management and members. The results show that CEO strategic leadership and the integration strategy are major change drivers and that they are important to the early stabilization of M&A companies. Finally, suggestions are made as to how such success may be replicated for other companies undergoing M&A in the future.

The effects of Mother's Discipline Style and Preschooler's Emotional Regulation Strategies on Preschooler's Leadership (어머니의 훈육방식 및 유아의 정서조절전략이 유아의 리더십에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the relationships mother's discipline style, preschooler's emotional regulation strategies, and preschooler's leadership. The subjects were 180 preschoolers who were 5 years old and their mothers live in Gwang-ju and Jeon-Nam province. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise regression analysis using the program of SPSS. The findings of the study were as follows. (1) there was a difference between the average score of subcategory and the total score of leadership according to the gender of preschooler and mother's employment and her educational background. However, there was no difference from the birth order of preschooler. (2) A correlation was not found between mother's discipline style and preschooler's leadership, but the significant negative correlation showed up between preschooler's emotional regulation strategies and preschooler's leadership. (3) The leadership of preschoolers who use positive coping strategies of a sub-area of emotional regulation strategies appeared strong. And the leadership appeared low with a boy who uses avoidant & supportive strategies, supportive strategies, aggressive strategies and venting strategies more often. Furthermore, the model of explanatory adequacy (R2) of some independent variables from the average scores of subcategory and the total score of leadership was confirmed to be the statistically significant explanatory model.

  • This study aims to mediating effects of Emotional Intelligence on the relationships between Self-Leadership. Additionally, this study is to examine the impact of Self-leadership(behavior-focused strategies, natural reward strategies and constructive thought pattern strategies) to Technology Innovation. Hypotheses were tested by surveying 420 employees at Gumi Industrial Complex. The findings are as follows: First, all factors of Self-leadership had a significant positive effect on Technology Innovation. Second, four factors of Emotional Intelligence had a significant positive mediating effect on Technology Innovation except behavior- focused strategies of Self-Leadership. It is indicated a need for action in organization's self-leadership and it is also shown reliable criterion to effective organizational management of success in Technology Innovation.
