  • The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare brain activation that appears in the self-regulation process of biology major and non-major college students in life science learning. The self-regulation task implemented a life science learning situation with the concept of biological classification. The brain activation of college students was measured and analyzed by fNIRS. In the assimilation process, bilateral FP and left DLPFC show significant activation, and the two groups show a difference in the left OFC activation related to motivation and reward. In the conflict process, the left DLPFC shows significantly lower activation in common, and the two groups show a difference in activation between BA 46, which is related to recent memory, and BA 47, which is related to long-term memory. In the accommodation process, a significantly high activation was found in right DLPFC in common, and the two groups show a difference in activation between right DLPFC and right FP. These areas are in the right frontal lobe area and are related to the understanding of life science knowledge. As a result of this study, it can be seen that the brain activation patterns of biology major and non-major college students are different in the self-regulation process. In addition, we will propose additional neurological studies on self-regulation and present systems and learning strategies that can be constructed in school settings.

  • This study examines the wage level from a viewpoint of major-job match as part of an analysis on the skill mismatch problem in 4-year college graduates. The empirical analysis explicitly incorporate the sample selection bias as an econometric problem not only suggested but merely introduced in the earlier studies. This study also set up a major-job match variable, which was usually handled as a binary variable for analytical convenience, as a polychotomous choice variable in selection equation as provided by the survey. In particular, it considered multi-cohort survey on graduates of the years 1982, 1992, and 2002 for the empirical analysis. As a result of empirical analysis, the wage premium of a major-job match was identified. This result was consistent after the consideration of a sample selection bias and also after modeling the major-job match variable as polychotomously selective. Through an analysis classified by the major, this study identified a relatively high wage premium among Social Science, Engineering, and Science majors. However, there was a difference in the effect of selection among these majors. Also, by assessing cohort effects this study found that the skill mismatch had rapidly progressed in 1992, while difference between 1992 and 2002 cohorts are insignificant. The analysis suggests that wage level is better understood within the context of both sample selection and major-job match, and regardless of model specification the major-job match affects wage strongly.

  • There is an increasing number of competency-based major courses organized and operated to develop various competencies. Here, competencies include key competencies/major competencies in the evaluation of basic competency diagnosis in universities, Program Outcomes of engineering education certification, and NCS competency units. The Ministry of Education's evaluation of basic university competency requires all major courses to be organized and operated to improve the major competency of the department, and major courses in the department that operates engineering education certification should be linked to Program Outcomes. Various types of competency-based major courses should be educated to improve related competencies, and educational performance should be measured by selecting a competency evaluation method that allows students to check the level of achievement in consideration of both the process and results of performance. Therefore, this paper examines the types of competency evaluation used to measure educational performance in major subjects related to competency, proposes an evaluation method that synthesizes and measures various types of competencies at the subject level, and presents examples of applying them to major subjects.

  • This study investigated the influence of major satisfaction on learning flow and self-efficacy of students majoring in culinary arts at local junior colleges. In the 2022-2 semester, 260 freshmen and sophomore college students majoring in culinary from five junior colleges in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions were analyzed. For data processing, SPSS Ver. 25.0 was used. The data is used to measure reliability by Cronbach's α, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows : First, there was a difference in satisfaction between freshmen and sophomores in major satisfaction with cooking related departments at local junior colleges. Second, there was a significant effect of satisfaction with cooking-related majors at local junior colleges on learning immersion. Third, there was a significant effect of satisfaction with cooking-related majors at local junior colleges on self-efficacy. In conclusion, it was found that major satisfaction affects learning immersion and self-efficacy for both students enrolled in cooking-related departments at local junior colleges. In the future, we suggest follow-up research on educational measures to increase learning immersion and self-efficacy for students who are not majoring in cooking in the high school curriculum and students who are insufficient in major classes due to part-time jobs during the semester.

  • This study is to practice a analysis of Q-methodological preference degree about the subjects on school curriculum centering around the views of the policemen in active service who are with Gwang Ju and Jeon Nam region. Concretely, this study mixed the subjects on school curriculum related to the police administration of universities located in Gwang Ju and Jeon Nam region and abstracted the twenty seven items as the final question point. Above this, this study integrated the similar or repeated subjects and drew up the question items through seperation process among the different subjects. After this, this study selected the twenty policemen as a first P-sample in active service presently on fourth month in the year 2011. In this process, this study eliminated the materials of six policemen who replyed unhonestly and selected the materials of ten-four policemen as a final effective sample. Furthermore, this study applicated a principal component analysis. This study practiced the I.II.III types of a preference degree analysis of the subjects related to the police administration. the concrete results are as follows: In a I type, the positive consent was showed in the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedure law, criminal speciality law and so on. In a II type, the positive consent was showed in criminal investigation science, emergency measure, the art of self-defence, criminal law, criminal procedure law and so on. In a III type, the positive consent was showed in criminal science, criminal investigation science, criminal procedure law, introduction to police science, police ethics and so on. On this basis, this study concluded the following common opinions. Firstly the actual and evidencial subjects which the policemen in active service feel as the commons were criminal investigation, criminal science, police ethics, criminal speciality law, criminal law business, police administration science, police law practice, emergency measure, the art of self-defence, general rules of civil law, administrative law and so on.

  • The Internet is changing or even eliminating old organizational schemes, including education. A growing number of universities and graduate schools are creating curriculums to reflect these changes. Business schools have prepared their students for a corporate world to offer some E-commerce courses. While E-commerce courses are proliferating in computer and information science schools, they are also spreading to other university departments including law and advertising. The objective of this paper is to suggest a prototype E-commerce curriculum for E-commerce departments. First, we survey and compare the E-commerce curriculum offered in many universities. Second, we provide the new E-commerce curriculum model for Korean universities. E-courses are classified as three knowledge areas of E-commerce courses such as business, technology, and core. We prioritize E-courses selected and rank their importance through an exploratory study for suggesting the undergraduate or graduate curriculum.
