  • Development of Internet has been successfully inspired with extensive deployment of the network technology and application. However, increases in Internet usage had caused a lot of traffic overload in these days. Thus, we need a continuous research and development on the network virtualization for effective resource allocation. In this paper, we propose a minimal cost virtual network mapping algorithm using Piecewise Linear Cost Function. We exploited an algorithm with Linear Programming and D-VINE for node mapping, and Shortest Path Algorithm based on linear programming solution is used for link mapping. In this way, we compared and analyzed the average cost for arrival rate of VN request with linear and tree structure. Simulation results show that the average cost of our algorithm shows better efficiency than ViNEyard.

  • A crucial issue in deploying wireless sensor networks is to perform a sensing task in an area of interest in an energy-efficient manner since sensor nodes have limited energy Power. The most practical solution to solve this problem is to use a node wake-up scheduling protocol that some sensor nodes stay active to provide sensing service, while the others are inactive for conserving their energy In this paper, we present a simple wake-up scheduling protocol, which can maintain sensing coverage required by applications and yet increase network lifetime by turning off some redundant nodes. In order to do this, we use the concept of a weighted average distance. A node decides whether it is active or inactive based on the weighted average distance. The proposed protocol allows sensor nodes to sleep dynamically while satisfying the required sensing coverage.

  • Sensor Networks are composed of many sensor nodes, which are capable of sensing, computing, and communicating with each other, and one or more sink node(s). Sensor networks collect information of various objects' identification and surrounding environment. Due to the limited resources of sensor nodes, use of wireless channel, and the lack of infrastructure, sensor networks are vulnerable to security threats. Most research of sensor networks have focused on how to detect and counter one type of attack. However, in real sensor networks, it is impractical to predict the attack to occur. Additionally, it is possible for multiple attacks to occur in sensor networks. In this paper, we propose the Secure Routing Mechanism to Defend Multiple Attacks in Sensor Networks. The proposed mechanism improves and combines existing security mechanisms, and achieves higher detection rates for single and multiple attacks.

  • This paper proposes a character segmentation algorithm of steel plate images composed of adaptive binarization by the SCW (Sliding Concentric Windows) technique, the object labelling by CCA (Connected Component Analysis), and 2D projection method. The SCW technique carries out the grayscale-to-binary image conversion in consideration of local characteristics of images. The character decision algorithm followed by the labelling technique by CCA (Connected Component Analysis) determines the character area effectively reducing the noise effect. The 2D projection with horizontal and vertical directions produces a tight bounding box for a character based on the cross points. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm segments the characters in steel plate images effectively. The proposed algorithm can be applied to the devices with limited resources due to its excellent performance and low complexity.

  • In this paper, we develop a speaker gender classification technique using collaborative sensor fusion for use in a wireless sensor network. The distributed sensor nodes remove the unwanted input data using the BER(Band Energy Ration) based voice activity detection, process only the relevant data, and transmit the hard labeled decisions to the fusion center where a global decision fusion is carried out. This takes advantages of power consumption and network resource management. The Bayesian sensor fusion and the global weighting decision fusion methods are proposed to achieve the gender classification. As the number of the sensor nodes varies, the Bayesian sensor fusion yields the best classification accuracy using the optimal operating points of the ROC(Receiver Operating Characteristic) curves_ For the weights used in the global decision fusion, the BER and MCL(Mutual Confidence Level) are employed to effectively combined at the fusion center. The simulation results show that as the number of the sensor nodes increases, the classification accuracy was even more improved in the low SNR(Signal to Noise Ration) condition.

  • In this study, we expected the perceived difference of job calling and decent jobs between recent generation and baby-boomer and eco baby-boomer generation. Understanding perceptions of jobs by current generation that are perceived as lifetime jobs rather than lifetime workplace will make some valuable contributions to future job research and policy. The aim of the study was to examine the subjective perception of decent jobs among university students who are ready to go to labor market. By using Q methodology, we extracted 291 Q statements and 47 Q samples. In addition, 31 subjects classified Q samples into Q distributed tables. We used Ken-Q Analysis program. In the results, we found five types of perceived subjectiveness on the decent jobs, which were interests-seeking, balance-seeking, toward organization, power-seeking, and career development. These results confirm the diversity of perceptions of decent jobs. Then, we suggested policy implications to help the labor market entry based on the results.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a standard calculation program of forest road drainage facilities that may help forest road designers to design forest road drainage facilities more conveniently and precisely. Especially, the characteristics of this program is that the forest road designers may calculate the amount of outflow in the basin using rainfall intensity data conveniently, without the data designers should acquire through site measurements when they carry out indoor preliminary measurements before they go out for outdoor measurements. In this manner, excessive design may be restrained by offering minimum standard calculation for drainage structures. And also this study was designed to facilitate proper layout of drainage structures by calculating outflow discharge of each basin where forest roads will be installed. Especially, this study will contribute to leveling-up of forest design techniques as the researcher has prepared the reports on whole process of drain pipe installation and provided them in the form of computer file or printout, which show a rational design process, and make it possible to modify in case of an error.

  • This study was to identify generational difference of values of life and factors influencing turnover of Korean nurses. Total 294 nurses of generation-X, Y, and Z participated. Analysis of variance(ANOVA) and Multiple Regression Analyse was conducted. The result of the study was that Gen-X and Y nurses considered family life as the most important thing in life and Importance of work was the next by Gen-X and leisure time by Gen-Y. However, Gen-Z nurses regarded leisure time as the most important. These findings indicate that influencing factors on turnover of Korean nurses were different by nurses generations. These results indicates that it is necessary to develop different strategies by generations in order to manage turnover issues for Korean nurses.

  • As the technologies of the 4th industrial revolution develops, spatial information is becoming digitized. Now, even with a smartphone, we can easily identify the location of national & military critical facilities located in the mega cities. As a result, mega cities' national & military critical facilities were exposed to not only traditional threats, but also non-traditional threats such as terrorism, cyber hacking, and criminal activities. This study suggests a way to protect national & military critical facilities of mega cities from such threats. Considering limitation of time & resources, protecting perfectly all national & military critical facilities is impossible, so we should focus on their critical nodes. Specifically, We suggest ways to protect the critical nodes by converging some measures such as design & arrangement in harmony with the surrounding environment, underground construction & covering, and visual deception. Transparency of digital spatial information will further increase with the advent of urban air mobility and autonomous vehicles in the future. Therefore, in order to prepare for future threats, we should take measures to minimize the exposure of critical nodes.

  • Currently, the Republic of Korea is facing the problem of a decrease in military service resources due to the demographic cliff, and is pursuing military restructuring and changes in the military force structure in order to respond to this. In this situation, the Army is pushing forward the deployment of a drone-bot combat system that will lead the future battlefield. The battlefield of the future will be changed into an integrated battlefield concept that combines command and control, surveillance and reconnaissance, and precision strike. According to these changes, unmanned combat system, including dronebots, will be widely applied to combat situations that are high risk and difficult for humans to perform in actual combat. In this paper, as one of the countermeasures to these changes, autonomous behavior software with a BDI architecture-based decision-making system was developed. The autonomous behavior software applied a framework structure to improve applicability to multiple models. Its function was verified in a PC-based environment by assuming that the target UAV is a battalion-level surveillance and reconnaissance UAV.
