Linear Algebra Teaching in the Digital Age (디지털 시대의 대학수학교육: 선형대수학을 중심으로)

  • The educational environment in the digital age of the 21st century definitely affects teaching and learning methods to be changed. In addition, the perceptions and methods of mathematics education in the digital age have also been changing. This study proposes a university mathematics education model suitable for the digital age, which makes full use of the internet/digital environment and leads the students to participate in the learning processes. We apply the proposed model to Linear Algebra course, and present a concrete method of teaching and learning model including evaluation. This will be the first study on how to organize and operate digital courses in Korea in accordance with the mathematics education in the digital era which is rapidly spreading around the world.

The Study of the Extension of the Scale of Notation by Analogy and the Notation in History (역사 속의 진법과 유추를 통한 진법의 확장에 대한 연구)

  • On this study, the historical flow of the notation was briefly examined and the direction of mathematical investigation activity of the content of notation by analogy was explored and teaching learning materials were developed. Diverse mathematical facts were investigated on the basis of decimal system and binary system which are learned in middle school. First, the way of progressing analytic activity with algebraic material was examined. Second, on the basis of the notation which are learned in the first grade of middle school, the definition of the scale of a -notation, -a -notation, $\frac{1}{a}$notation, $\sqrt{a}$-notation was extended by analogy. The result of this study will be expected to establish the curriculum of mathematics and provide teaching and learning with the meaningful current events.

Developing Mathematical Learning Project Using Pyramid (피라미드를 소재로 한 수학 학습 프로젝트 개발)

  • Mathematical learning via projects, which enables the reconstruction of curriculum through integration and emphasizes the process of solving problems by posing questions, has attracted the attention of the department of mathematics. This research is aimed at exploring the link between mathematics and project learning by analyzing an example of student-oriented project 'the secrets of pyramid' focused on understanding 'triangle' specifically designed for forth graders. From 115-hour process of subject-oriented project, this study reinterpreted the mathematical meaning of only 24 hours directly related to mathematics, especially to figure exploration. Consequently, this problem solving involved a variety of geometric activities as a process, such as measuring an angle, constructing a triangle, etc. Thus students attempt to actively participate in the process, thereby allowing them to learn how to measure things more accurately. Moreover, project learning improved students' understanding on not only plane figures but solid figures. This indicates that by project learning, learning from given problems or contents can be extended to other mathematical areas.

A Study on Diagnostics of Single Performance Deterioration of Aircraft Gas-Turbine Engine Using Genetic Algorithms (유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 항공기용 가스터빈 엔진의 단일 결함 진단에 대한 연구)

  • Genetic Algorithms(GA) which searches optimum solution using natural selection and the law of heredity has been applied to learning algorithms in order to estimate performance deterioration of the aircraft gas turbine engine. The compressor, gas generator turbine and power turbine are considered for engine performance deterioration and estimation for performance deterioration of a single component at design point was conducted. As a result of that, defect diagnostics has been conducted. The input criteria for the genetic algorithm to guarantee the high stability and reliability was discussed as increasing learning data sets. As a result, the accuracy of defect estimation and diagnostics were verified with its RMS error within 3%.

Development and Application of High School Students' Physics Self-Efficacy (물리 자기효능감 측정 도구의 개발 및 적용: 자연계열 고등학생을 대상으로)

  • Based on social cognitive theory, self-efficacy in the context of learning has been steadily emphasized as an indicator of students' motivation and performance. The premise for developing such an instrument was that a specific measure of Physics self-efficacy was deemed to be an important predictor of the change processes necessary to improve students' physics understanding. In this study we described the process of developing and validating an instrument to measure students' beliefs in their abilities to perform essential tasks in physics and then investigated high school students' self-efficacy about physics learning and performance. Validity and reliability of PSEI were tested using various statistical techniques including the Cronbach alpha coefficient, exploratory factor analysis. The result of factor analysis supported the contention that the Physics Self-Efficacy Inventory (PSEI) was a multidimensional construct consisting of at least four dimensions: understanding and application of Physics concepts, achievement motivation, confidence for physics laboratory, confidence for Mathematics. The result showed that Kroean high schools students have low Physics self-efficacy for the all four dimensions. Therefore, researchers should focus on development of students' Physics self-efficacy. In addition, the instrument may lead to further understanding of student behavior, which in turn can facilitate the development of strategies that may increase students' aspiration to understand and study Physics. More specifically, by using the PSEI as a pre- and post-test indicator, instructors can gain insight into whether students' confidence levels increase as they engage in learning Physics, and, in addition, what type of teaching strategies are most effective in building deeper understanding of Physics concepts.where they freely exchanged opinions and feedback for constructing better collective ideas.

A Hybrid of Rule based Method and Memory based Loaming for Korean Text Chunking (한국어 구 단위화를 위한 규칙 기반 방법과 기억 기반 학습의 결합)

  • In partially free word order languages like Korean and Japanese, the rule-based method is effective for text chunking, and shows the performance as high as machine learning methods even with a few rules due to the well-developed overt Postpositions and endings. However, it has no ability to handle the exceptions of the rules. Exception handling is an important work in natural language processing, and the exceptions can be efficiently processed in memory-based teaming. In this paper, we propose a hybrid of rule-based method and memory-based learning for Korean text chunking. The proposed method is primarily based on the rules, and then the chunks estimated by the rules are verified by memory-based classifier. An evaluation of the proposed method on Korean STEP 2000 corpus yields the improvement in F-score over the rules or various machine teaming methods alone. The final F-score is 94.19, while those of the rules and SVMs, the best machine learning method for this task, are just 91.87 and 92.54 respectively.

  • As the Internet has been a daily instrument of our lives, the numbers of Internet users are increasing rapidly. Especially, we have to pay special attention to about rapid increasing of juvenile users. In the 1990's, Kids are growing up literally surrounded by new technologies and mu1timedia experiences. For these kids, most of the techno1ologies that we adults find surprising or even incredible are a part of their everyday landscape, a fact of life. Currently, only few of research and discussion has gone into understanding this field. And most of these web sites, set importance on furnishing information only. So educational characters of web are not manifested fully as well as children soon get board with learning with Internet so that feel difficulties in searching and accepting information. At this point, we must try to develop educational sites Not only to show information but also to offer a rich and entertaining time for kids while providing playful teaming and increased technological fluency. Fer this purpose, Web site should be all about combining play with learning. Site navigation should be easy and the pages load quickly. The page download time is also being considerable, which could send kids withy mouse-fingers looking for entertainment elsewhere. Everything about the site must have a familiar feel, uses adequate colors to be satisfied with the juveniles. Multimedia can help the communications in the websites. To maximize the educational effect, technological research and continues invest are need, in addition to usability test.

A Case Study on the 'Consumer Studies' Class Using Problem-Based Learning for Prospective Home Economics Teachers (예비교사를 위한 문제중심학습에 기반한 '소비자학' 수업 사례)

  • This study aims to apply the problem-based learning method to a college course on 'Consumer Studies' in a teacher education program. The participants of this study were 27 undergraduate students who were enrolled in the course. The PBL class was implemented for seven weeks using two problems: proposing special lectures on economic concepts and financial consulting. The effectiveness of PBL was analyzed through self-reflective journals, self-assessment, and a learning satisfaction survey of students. The result of this study was as follows. Students achieved the learning objectives and strengthened their collaboration and communication skills with team members during the PBL process. Moreover, students improved their self-directed learning and problem-solving ability through the PBL class. The results of self-assessment, in terms of learning task performance, active interaction, and self-directed learning were generally high at 4.63 points. In addition, the overall learning satisfaction level was very high, with a score of 4.75. The results will provide effective information on PBL classes to instructors and prospective teachers and will be used as data for learner-centered PBL classes.

  • 동물무늬는 서식지에 따라 야생에서 천적으로부터 살아남을 수 있는 중요한 역할을 한다. 동물무늬의 역할 중 하나인 자연과 야생 환경에서 천적의 눈을 피해 위장하는 기능이 있기 때문인데 본 논문에서는 기존 위장무늬의 개선을 위한 GAN 알고리즘 기반 위장 패턴 생성모델을 제안한다. 이 모델은 단순히 색상만을 사용하여 위장무늬의 윤곽선을 Blur 처리를 해서 사람의 관측을 흐리게 만드는 기존의 모델의 단순함을 보완하여 GAN 알고리즘의 활용기술인 Deep Dream을 활용하여 경사 상승법을 통해 특정 층의 필터 값을 조절하여 원하는 부분에 대한 구분되는 패턴을 생성할 수 있어 색뿐만 아니라 위장의 기능이 있는 동물무늬와 섞어 자연과 야생 환경에서 더욱 동화율이 높아진 위장 패턴을 생성하고자 한다.

  • 최근 챗봇 시스템은 급격한 발전과 함께 사용자와 자연스러운 대화를 할 수 있는 인공지능 기술의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 기존의 챗봇 시스템은 대화 상황을 충분히 이해하지 못하거나, 학습된 데이터를 벗어나는 문장에 대한 일관성 있는 응답을 제공하지 못하는 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 GPT-3와 KoBERT를 활용하여 사용자의 감정 상태를 파악하고 해당 감정을 고려한 일관성 있는 대화를 제공하는 감정 분석 기반 챗봇 시스템을 제안한다. 이를 바탕으로 긍정적인 대화를 이어 나가는데 초점을 두어 자연스러운 대화가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
