  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the Spaced Retrieval Training (SRT) with Errorless learning on the elderly with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)'s memory, Instrumental Activities Daily Living, Depression symptom. Methods: A single subject experimental research with ABA design was conducted in this study on the 78-years-old person who was enrolled in day-care center. The total experimental sessions were 16 which composed of 3 sessions for baseline, 10 sessions for intervention and 3 sessions for second baseline. K-Auditory Verbal Learning Test (K-AVLT) was measured for the memory each session. For the measurement of cognitive function, IADL, depression Symptom, Korean version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-K), Philadelphia Geriatric Center Instrumental Activities Daily Living (PGC IADL), Geriatric Depression Scale Korean Version (GDS-K) was measured at pre-post test. Results: Memory at the phase B was improved than Phase A. At the phase B, the scores trend was ascending, but after the intervention at the phase A', the scores trend was descending. The scores of MoCA-K were improved, PGC IADL were maintained, GDS-K were decreased. Conclusion: This results support the evidence of the SRT with EL on the elderly with MCI in the clinical setting. In the future, the correlation researches about MCI's memory and other functional factors will be needed for effective occupational therapy service.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how Korean college students perceive and produce American English vowels /i, ɪ, eɪ, ${\varepsilon}$, ${\ae}$, ${\alpha}$, ɔ, oʊ, ʊ, u, ʌ/ embedded in CVC words, and further to examine the relationship between perception and production of the target vowels. Forty-two participants who are English major/double major were divided into 2 groups under different conditions: the control group took only theoretical lessons about English phonetics and the experimental group took 4-week phonetic training lessons in addition to the theoretical ones. The result of the pretest revealed that the two groups showed strong correlations between perception and production. However in the post-test, both of the two groups had no correlation between the two elements. The two groups showed changes in the correct percentage in the post-test and this had the influence on the correlations between perception and production. The control group showed the fluctuation in perception, whereas the experimental group showed improvement in production, and these changes in the post-test had an influence on the correlations between perception and production. Based on this analysis, pedagogical implications were discussed and limitations of the study were also described.

  • Realistic media, the next-generation media technology in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, is becoming an issue as a technology to experience through an environment that optimizes user experience, especially! It is rapidly developing into the health and healthcare convergence and complex fields. Realistic media technologies and services are being adopted to solve the problems of the increase in chronic diseases due to the increase in the elderly population and the lack of infrastructure and professional manpower in the fields of cognitive training and rehabilitation. Therefore, in this study, a cognitive training system was designed and implemented for the purpose of improving cognitive ability and daily life activity in subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) who require cognitive rehabilitation. In the future, an integrated service platform with interactive communication and immediate feedback as an intelligent cognitive rehabilitation integrated platform based on AI and BigData is left as a research project.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the intention to use of virtual reality-based cognitive training system for the elderly residing in community based on extended technology acceptance model. The data were collected 100 elderly residing in community from January 2 to January 31, 2020. As a result, the influence the intent to use a virtual reality-based cognitive training system for the elderly is social influence, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, age. The explaining 54.4% of the variance, it is considered that technology development these factors will be necessary for elderly in the community to promote the intent to use of virtual reality-based cognitive training systems. This study is meaningful in that it has identified the degree of intent to use and influencing factors of virtual reality devices for the elderly in the community. This study could be used as basic data for the development of technologies for virtual reality-based cognitive training systems in the future.

  • One of the most negative social changes of the last decade is population aging which leads to 19 times more patients with Mild Cognitive Disorder(MCI). It is well established that MCI is the most important state that can prevent dementia with early diagnosis and intervention. However, the social security system for patients with dementia is not working properly due to the coronavirus pandemic and the limited human power. This article proposes design principles for dementia training programs of extended reality devices. and The findings in this study provide a guide for considering the cognitive and physical and social functions of patients.

  • Nowadays, many interface devices or training systems have been developed with recent developments in IT technology but only a few training systems for developmentally disabled people have been introduced. In this paper, we present a real-time, interactional and situational training system based on augmented reality in order to improve cognitive capability and adaptive ability in the daily life of developmentally disabled people. Our system is specifically based on serving food in restaurants. This augmented reality based system provides them to experience various different situations safely and take the training session as much as they want under any circumstances. When they use our system, they are able to look around with Head Mounted Display(HMD) and take training sessions easily based on various situational scenarios. After experimenting on our system for 3 months, we found they had no aversion about wearing HMD and learned quicker as they practiced over and over and improved their cognitive capability and adaptive ability. We also got a positive feedback that it had an excellent educational value from teachers in special-education-school.

  • Diffuse axonal injury(DAI) is a common form of traumatic brain injury and thought to be a major contributor to cognitive dysfunction. Physical activity has been shown to beneficial effects on physical health and influences in hippocampus which is an important location for memory and learning. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of motor training on motor performance and axonal regeneration in hippocampus through the immunoreactivity of GAP-43 after diffuse axonal injury in the rats. The experimental groups were applied motor training(beam-walking, rotarod, and Morris water maze) but control groups were not. The time performing the motor tasks and GAP-43 immunohistochemistry were used for the result of axonal recovery. There were meaningful differences between experimental groups and control groups on motor performance and GAP-43 immunohistochemistry. The control groups showed increasing tendency with the lapse of time, but experimental groups showed higher. Therefore, Motor training after DAI improve motor outcomes which are associated with dynamically altered immunoreactivity of GAP-43 in axonal injury regions, particularly hippocampus, and that is related with axonal regeneration.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of audiovisual biofeedback training using RAPAEL Smart Pegboard on the cognitive function of stroke patients. Methods : A total of 20 participants were divided into an intervention group and a control group, with 10 patients per group K-MoCA and NCSE were used for pre and post intervention evaluation. The intervention method of the intervention group provided traditional occupational therapy and audiovisual biofeedback training, and the control group provided traditional occupational therapy and participated in self-activity programs. Results : K-MoCA revealed a significant difference in visuo-spatial and executive functions, attention, memory, and overall score in the internvention group compared to the control group (p<.05). In addition, the results of NCSE showed that there was a significant difference in attention, memory, and overall score in the intervention group compared to the control group (p<.05). Conclusion : We confirmed that the audiovisual biofeedback training had a positive effect on the cognitive function of stroke patients. Therefore, it could be useful tool for the rehabilitation of stroke patients in future occupational therapy clinical environments.
