A Spectral Correlation Method for Cognitive Radio based Satellite system. (무선인지기반 위성시스템을 위한 주파수 검출방법)

  • Cognitive radio, which is designed to dynamically adapt its transmission to its environments is believed to be one of the fundamental techniques for the future spectrum utilization. As the first step of cognitive radio, spectrum sensing is treated as the most important technique. In this paper, we propose a spectral correlation based detection method for spectrum sensing. Based on the cyclostationarity of communication signals, spectral correlation function is used to minimize the effect of random noise and interference. The ROC performance of conventional energy detection is shown. Simulation result show that the proposed detection method outperforms the energy detection and more suitable for spectrum sensing in cognitive radios.

  • 이제 국내에서도 낙농업에 종사하는 모든 분들이 자조금조성의 필요성을 충분히 인지하고 있으며, 이 제도의 효율적이고 적극적인 운영을 위해 자조금조성을 법제화하여 새천년에도 지속사업으로 추진해 낙농산업의 발전을 마련하고자 하니 이제는 '무임승차'라는 불명예를 떨쳐버리고 다시는 우리 앞에 악순환이 지속되는 일이 없도록 하는 자세를 갖추어야 할 것이다.

An Adaptive Resource Allocation Scheme in Cognitive Radio Network Assisted Satellite (무선 인지 네트워크에서 위성을 이용한 적응적인 자원 할당 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose our design of adaptive resource allocation in the cognitive radio network assisted by satellite to improve the performance of Cognitive Radio user. Most of today’s telecommunication network operates in a fixed, licensed frequency band using a specific spectrum access network. However, the spectrum is not always used all the time, all the band. It causes the inefficiency in the spectrum usage. Thus, cognitive radio network is proposed to solve these spectrum inefficiency problems. The cognitive radio users (secondary users) are coexistent with primary users (PUs) who are licensed. That cognitive radio network is considered as lower priority comparing with primary user. So, the operation of the cognitive radio network is limited to interference constraints. Especially, when the number of secondary users increases, CCI among SUs will increase as well as interference to PU. That motivates our objective to improve the performance even if cognitive radio users increase. To solve this problem, we suggest an adaptive resource allocation scheme to improve the performance of cognitive radio network assisted by satellite. Through this algorithm, we can improve the cognitive radio network performance. And the simulation results confirm the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.

항로표지 배치 효율화를 위한 가시거리에 기반한 인지 지수 모델링

  • 본 연구에서는 항로표지(aids to navigation) 배치를 효율화하기 위한 정량적인 성능 지수(performance index)를 제시한다. 제안된 성능 지수는 항로표지에 대한 항해자(navigator)의 시각적 인식에 기반하였다. 인지 성능 지수는 시각적 인식의 구성요소로서 관찰자, 환경, 그리고 광원에 해당하는 선박 특성, 해상환경, 그리고 항로표지 특성을 반영하여 모델링되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 효과적으로 항로표지를 배치할 수 있는 수치적 지표를 획득할 수 있을 것으로 판단한다. 향후 항로배치에 대한 현실적 데이터를 바탕으로 제안된 모델링의 유효성을 검증할 계획이다.

A Review of the Neurocognitive Mechanisms for Mathematical Thinking Ability (수학적 사고력에 관한 인지신경학적 연구 개관)

  • Mathematical ability is important for academic achievement and technological renovations in the STEM disciplines. This study concentrated on the relationship between neural basis of mathematical cognition and its mechanisms. These cognitive functions include domain specific abilities such as numerical skills and visuospatial abilities, as well as domain general abilities which include language, long term memory, and working memory capacity. Individuals can perform higher cognitive functions such as abstract thinking and reasoning based on these basic cognitive functions. The next topic covered in this study is about individual differences in mathematical abilities. Neural efficiency theory was incorporated in this study to view mathematical talent. According to the theory, a person with mathematical talent uses his or her brain more efficiently than the effortful endeavour of the average human being. Mathematically gifted students show different brain activities when compared to average students. Interhemispheric and intrahemispheric connectivities are enhanced in those students, particularly in the right brain along fronto-parietal longitudinal fasciculus. The third topic deals with growth and development in mathematical capacity. As individuals mature, practice mathematical skills, and gain knowledge, such changes are reflected in cortical activation, which include changes in the activation level, redistribution, and reorganization in the supporting cortex. Among these, reorganization can be related to neural plasticity. Neural plasticity was observed in professional mathematicians and children with mathematical learning disabilities. Last topic is about mathematical creativity viewed from Neural Darwinism. When the brain is faced with a novel problem, it needs to collect all of the necessary concepts(knowledge) from long term memory, make multitudes of connections, and test which ones have the highest probability in helping solve the unusual problem. Having followed the above brain modifying steps, once the brain finally finds the correct response to the novel problem, the final response comes as a form of inspiration. For a novice, the first step of acquisition of knowledge structure is the most important. However, as expertise increases, the latter two stages of making connections and selection become more important.

Analysis of Psychological and Structural Determinants that Affect Binge-Watching of Drama Series (드라마 시리즈물 몰아보기 행위에 영향을 미치는 심리 및 구조적 요인에 관한 고찰)

  • This study identified several factors that may affect binge watching of drama series, which becomes more common, in the changing media environment and tested their influences empirically. For this objective, this research looked at how demographic variables, time availability, perceived effectiveness of interface, perceived content variability, neuroticism and motivations for drama binge watching affect binge watching of drama series. It also examined moderating effect of drama involvement. The findings showed that neuroticism, two motivations(playfulness/stress relief and program reputation motivation) have positive influences on binge watching of drama series. The moderating effect of drama involvement was also found. The meaning of results are also discussed.

Overview of VR Media Technology and Methods to Reduce Cybersickness (가상현실 미디어 기술동향과 VR 멀미저감 방안)

  • In this study, we reviewed recent trends for enhancing human cognitive accessibility to social VR platform. We also proposed a practical method to predict VR sickness and improve the cognitive accessibility. In doing so, we investigated subtle changes in human body sway unconsciously made before, during, and after being exposed to extreme VR experience. The scientific assumption that VR sickness would be correlated with the subtle changes in body sway was validated. We found that participants who showed sensitive changes in the body sway before VR experience, felt more severe VR sickness than others. The findings can be practically applied in predicting susceptibility to VR sickness prior to VR experiences.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동성 IP 기반 네트워크에서 효과적인 헤더압축 기법 및 압축상태 복구기법을 이용한 효율적인 비디오 트래픽 관리기법을 제안한다. 이동성 무선 링크의 대역폭은 물리매체와 무선 구간내 데이터 전송에 따른 주파수의 사용에 제약을 받는다. 또한 셀룰러 액세스 링크의 고비용과 링크손실 특성 등이 IP 기반 네트워크의 성능에 중요한 요소가 된다. 그러므로 자원을 효율적으로 사용하는 것이 필요하며, 셀 위치에 따른 메시지 교환 절차에 대하여 기술한다. 이를 위해 효율적인 헤더압축기법이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 지금까지 제안된 기법을 분석하여, 헤더압축 및 이동호스트의 핸드오프 발생시 신속하게 압축상태를 복구하는 기법에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 제안된 기법은 패킷손실을 줄이는 압축 컨텍스트 값을 인지하도록 하여 신속하여 압축상태로 복원되도록 하였다. 제안된 기법의 성능을 분석하기 위해서 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 수행하고, 그 결과에 의해서 제안된 기법의 성능이 개선됨을 입증하였다.

On the Perceptually Important Phase Information in Acoustic Signal (인지에 중요한 음향신호의 위상에 대해)

  • For efficient quantization of speech representation, it is common to incorporate Perceptual characteristics of human hearing. However, the focus has been confined only to the magnitude information of speech, and little attention has been paid to phase information. This paper presents a novel approach, termed perceptually irrelevant phase elimination (PIPE), to find out irrelevant phase information of acoustic signals in terms of perception. The proposed method, which is based on the observation that the relative phase relationship within a critical band is perceptually important, is derived not only for stationary Fourier signal but also for harmonic signal. The proposed method is incorporated into the analysis/synthesis system based on harmonic representation of speech, and subjective test results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.

  • Metonymy can be said to be the only language's meaning shifting technique that exists in the domain of a single human thought in order to obtain a transparent cognitive effect. The purpose of this study was to analyze the 'descriptive metonymy' of the advertising content language constructed by the cognitive principle and to find a way to use it in media language education for social and cultural interests and reflection of college students. The metonymy used in advertising media contrasts with the difficulty of the metaphorical interpretation of "opaque and distant" reasoning. Storyboards, mostly focused on human emotions and behaviors, used metonymy's 'transparent and easy meaning shifting technique'. I have found that I can expect the efficiency of media language education that contains the interest and sociocultural interest, self-reflection, and future imagination of college students. Now, there is less need to perform cognitive reasoning for advertisements with ambiguous metaphor techniques. Lastly, in order to produce successful advertising content, we expect to use the language technique of 'narrative metonymy' with warm feelings of humans, and acknowledge the lack of quantitative research and leave it as a task for the next research.
