  • The purpose of this study was to examine what induced dental hygienists to take up another employment and whether their job satisfaction had anything to do with it in an attempt to help curtail their turnover rate. The subjects in this study were approximately 200 dental hygienists who worked in dental institutions. A survey was conducted from July 24 through September 24, 2006, by using structured, self-administered questionnaires. For data analysis, SPSS 11.5 program was employed to see if their turnover experience was linked to their general characteristics, why they took up another employment, how long they wanted to do that and how their job satisfaction was related to that. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. In regard to turnover experience by age, marital status and career, those who had ever changed their employment accounted for 36.2 percent of the age group from 24 to 26, 83.0 percent of the unmarried ones and 50.0 percent of those whose career was less than one to three years (p < 0.001). By monthly mean income, 50.0 percent of the dental hygienists whose monthly mean income ranged from 1.0 to 1.29 million won had that experience(p < 0.05). The gap between these groups and the others was statistically significant. 2. As for the reason of turnover, working environments were cited most often(28.1%), followed by possibilities(18.0%), relationship with supervisors and colleagues(12.4%), and compensation(4.5%). 3. Concerning a preferred new workplace, 66.2 percent of the dental hygienists who worked in dentist's offices hoped to be newly hired by public dental clinics(p < 0.001). By education, 64.3 percent of the college-educated dental hygienists wanted to work at public dental clinics as well(p < 0.01). 4. The change of employment was under the greatest influence of the possibilities of workplace, followed by workload, pay and relationship with colleagues. All the factors had a negative impact on their turnover. Those who were less satisfied sought new employment more often, and job satisfaction made a statistically significant difference to that. The job satisfaction factors made a prediction of their turnover intention ($R^2=.254$).

  • This study aims to confirm whether both the emotional labour and job stress contribute to the turnover intention of infant teacher. The correlation analysis and parametric analysis were sequentially performed for our study. Analyzed results showed that the emotional labour was related to the job stress and turnover. Also, a statistical significance between the job stress and turnover intention was observed. Besides, the job stress partially mediated the relation between the emotional labour and turnover intention. Nsidering that the emotional labor of teacher caring or lived with infants occurred inevitably, our study proposed three approaches to reduce the job stress that partially mediated relation between the emotional labour and turnover intention. Generally, the infant teacher with excellent qualification produced the good education. Therefore, we suggested that the it was necessary that a work environment had been improved and working motivation was ameliorated to employ the infant teacher with excellent qualification.

  • This study investigates the factors influencing nurses' turnover intentions after evaluation for certification at geriatric hospitals. Focus is centered on job stress and burnout. The study was approved by the KUIRB. Data were collected from April 1 to August 31, 2015, and analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 software. The participants were 205 nurses recruited from 15 long-term care hospitals in metropolitan city B in province G. The average scores for job stress, burnout, and turnover intention were 3.83, 2.92, and 3.12, respectively (range: 1-5). Nurses' turnover intention had positive relationships with job stress (r=.356, p<.001) and burnout (r=.729, p<.001). The major factor influencing turnover intention was burnout (${\beta}=.729$), which explained 53% of the intention. In conclusion, intervention programs should be developed to reduce burnout, the key influencing factor, for decreasing nurses' turnover intention.

  • This research is conducted to analyze the relationship between occupational stress and turnover intention. The object of research is software developers in Chinese large firms. A number of 309 cases are used for the empirical study. A multiple regression is adapted to test the proposed hypothesis. The results reveal that occupational stress has a meaningful effect on job burnout; exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy lead to turnover intention; job burnout mediates between occupational stress and turnover intention. It is suggested that managers need to design a structural HR mechanism for workers in order not to experience occupational stress.

  • This study examines the labor market performance of graduates who had student loans. Compared to earlier studies, we extended analyses to all jobs that were experienced for more than 18 months after graduation. First, we found that students who had student loans earned 2.81% less at their first job compared to their counterparts without student loans. Second, the wage gap decreased over time, a reduction of 0.66%p due to labor market turnovers. Third, when we compared cumulated labor income, however, the amount for borrowers were continuously higher. This is because the job searching period of a borrower was shorter, despite relatively lower wages at the first job, and borrowers also made more frequent job turnovers, accompanying relatively more wage increases. These results suggest that the negative effects of college loans on earnings, reported in previous studies, may have exaggerated the negative impact to some extent of having loans. However, when we look at the quality of jobs beyond simply wages, the proportion of borrowers working at large companies as regular workers was consistently low. Given that job conditions at the earlier stages of one's career may lead to gaps over time, our findings call for more systematic investigations into the effects that student loans have on long-term labor performance.
