A Study on the Characteristics of Repeat Foreign Tourists to Korea (한국을 재방문하는 외래 관광객의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study is focused on analyzing the characteristics of repeat foreign tourists to Korea and suggest how to increase the repeat ratio. As the result of analysis, there were significant differences in the variables of sex, age, country in the case of demographic characteristics and in the variables of travel types, the number of company, the purpose of visit, accommodations, major visiting places and visiting areas in the case of travel characteristic. And also there were significant differences in the variables of accommodation fees per person and expenses per person in their own country in the case of travel expenses and in the variables of immigration formalities, public transportations, accommodations, foods, shopping, tourist attractions and security in the case of satisfaction. Lastly there were significant differences in the variables of revisit intention within 3 years, recommendation intention, the image of Korea(before trip) and the image of Korea(after trip) in the case of behavior intention after trip and image evaluation. Therefore it should be considered the characteristics of repeat foreign tourists when we make the tourism products to increase the repeat ratio.

Determinants of Korean Firms' R&D Outsourcing (한국 기업의 연구개발 외주활동 결정요인 분석)

  • This paper aims to analyze the relationship between R&D outsourcing ratio (external R&D expenditures out of total R&D expenditures) and firm characteristics. Four hypotheses are tested using firm-level data with Tobit regression method. The major findings of this paper are as follows. First, firms with high technological capabilities, which are measured by R&D expenditures per sale and the number of patents per employee, rely more on R&D outsourcing. Nonetheless, firms that own R&D centers tend to rely less on external outsourcing of R&D. Second, firms with high managerial innovation capabilities, which is measured by the introduction of IT solutions, show higher R&D outsourcing ratio. Third, bigger firms are likely to spend more in external R&D than in internal R&D. This paper also discusses implications on R&D policy of Korea.

Spatial Autocorrelation Analysis of Carex humilis on Mt. Giri by RAPD (RAPD에 의한 지리산 내 산거울 집단의 공간적 상관관계 분석)

  • The spatial distribution of alleles and geographical distances of a Carex humilis population on Mt. Giri in Korea were studied. A total of 102 DNA fragments (bands) were found among 107 plants. Among these 102 bands, 48 (47.1%) bands were polymorphic. In a simple variability of subpopulations by the percentage of polymorphic bands, distances I and V exhibited the lowest variation (16.7%). Distance VIII showed the highest variation (22.6%). The total genetic diversity (H) was 0.076 across species. Class VIII had the highest H (0.093), while class I had the lowest (0.063). Genetic similarity of individuals was found among subpopulations at up to a scale of 60 m distance, and this was partly due to a combination of alleles. Within the Mt. Giri population, a strong spatial structure was observed for RAPD markers, indicating a very low amount of migration among subpopulations and that the distribution of individual genotypes of a given population was clumped. The present study demonstrated that analysis of RAPD markers could be successfully used to study the spatial and genetic structures of C. humilis.

Genetic Variability and Population Structure of Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus from Stocked Areas Using Microsatellite DNA Markers (종묘방류에 따른 넙치, Paralichthys olivaceus 지역집단의 유전학적 구조)

  • Five microsatellite DNA markers were used to investigate genetic diversity and population structure of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus collected from four locations (YD, SC, GJ, WD) where hatchery-based seeds of the flounder have been released. The average of observed (Ho) and expected heterozygosity (He) ranged from 0.833 to 0.871, and from 0.842 to 0.876, respectively. The average number of alleles per locus ranged from 12.4 to 17.8. The proportion of stocked flounder ranged from 20.0% to 95.8% for wild-caught populations with a decreasing tendency of alleles per locus following a higher proportion of stocked flounder. There is need to implement a more careful stock-enhancement program of hatchery-based seeds and to monitor its genetic effects on wild populations to ensure conservation of natural flounder resources.

  • The critical temperature and the rate of increase in excess death caused by heat waves in the age group of 65 years and older are derived. The value of statistical life method was used to quantify economic damages, and the willingness to pay after 71 years of age for 10 years was measured based on the dichotomous choice contingent valuation method survey. The result shows about KRW 481,110,000 is required annually to reduce the possibility of death by climate change to 1/1000.

  • $TiO_2$ powders were prepared via hydrolysis of titanium n-butoxide in n-butanol and hydrolysis mechanism of titanium n-butoxide was studied using UV-Vis spectrometer. Hydrolysis reactions were controlled to proceed to pseudo-first order reaction in the presence of excess water. The phases of $TiO_2$ powders, prepared under the these conditions, were identified by XRD and reaction rates were calculated by Gugggenheim method. Prepared powders were noncrystalline states in their initial stage of formation but transformed to crystalline rutile structure by heating. Reaction mechanism of titanium n-butoxide was proposed as Interchange-Associative(Ia) mechanism, based on the data of n-value and termodynamic parameters which were determined from the rate constants.

A Research for Developing Pattern Design Applied Korean Traditional Patterns and Jacquard Fabrics of Gold Foil Image(1) (전통금박 및 금실자수문양을 이용한 패턴디자인 및 금박 이미지의 자카드 직물 개발에 관한 연구 (1))

  • In order to preserve the Korean traditional gold foil, to develop as Korean traditional textile art by utilizing in modem fashion for textile industry, and to examine utility of the material which can be used in the modem wearing, interior goods and fashion terms, Textiles Applied Korean Traditional Gold Foil were developed. The results are as follows: First, important factors of the gold foil image should be extracted as materials quality, color and pattern, and modem and practical qualities should be proceeded when developing the image of the gold foil into modem quality material. Second, since gloss of fabric developed by a traditional method is somewhat strong, uniformity being a little bit low for hand-made manufacturing, and practical quality is low for high cost, deletion of the gold foil, etc. So it hasn't been appropriate for studying modem fashion material. Third, Jacquard weave has been examined as the most appropriate method in order to present the gold foil image among a number of textile manufacturing techniques Fourth, considering factors deciding the image of the gold foil and a sense of beauty of modem society, gloss of the foil has been lessened by expressing pattern to lower traditional quality and primary color. Fifth, pattern motives of developed materials have been extracted tram traditional gold foil patterns, and materials have been chosen considering of concepts and motives, and dragon pattern, crane pattern and bat pattern, Sixth, wearing, pin-up works, bed linen, fabrics for chairs, ties, bags, shoes, umbrellas, etc. are produced with the developed materials, and practical use and modern quality have been examined. The result is very satisfactory.

Shear Stress Effect on Isothermal Crystallization Behavior of Semicrystalline Polymer (고분자수지의 등온 결정화거동에 미치는 전단응력의 영향)

  • 결정성 고분자수지는 가공조건에 의해 결정되는 미세구조의 변화에 따라 최종물성 이 현저히 달라지므로 최종 성형품의 물성을 극대화하기 위해서는 성형가공 중에 필연적으 로 부가되는 열이력 뿐만 아니라 전단이력이 결정화 거동에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 가공조 건의 최적화를 통하여 미세구조를 적절히 제어하는 것이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서 in-situ 상태로 전단유도 결정화거동을 조사할수 있는 rheo-kinetic 실험 방법을 개발하고 결정화 거동에 미치는 열이력과 전단이력의 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 비교적 결정화 속도가 빠른 폴리 부틸렌 테레프탈레이트 수지를 대상으로 냉각조건, 전단부가시간, 전단속도등을 다양하게 변화시키면서 plate-plate 레오미터로 시간에 따른 전단응력의 변화 를 조사하는 rheo-kinetic 연구를 수행하였다. 아울러 실험 중에 액체 질소로 급냉하여 얻은 시료를 대상으로 등온 및 비등온의 열분석 실험을 수행하고 JMA식과 Hoffman-Lauritzentlr 을 사용하여 분석한 다음, 그 결과를 rheo-kinetic 해석결과와 비교함으로써 결정화 거동에 미치는 전단응력의 영향을 규명하였다. 일정전단속동하에서 수행한 rheo-kinetic 실험결과, 시간에 따른 저난응력의 증가와 용융열이 증가하는 경향이 매우 유사한 거동을 보이므로 전 단응력의 증가는 결정화가 일어남에 기인한 결과임을 확인할수 있었으며 고분자수지가 전단 이력을 받게 되면 분자배향의 결과로 결정화 유도시간이 짧아지고 결정화속도가 증가할 뿐 만 아니라 보다 더 높은 온도에서 결정화가 일어나게 됨을 알수 있었다. 또 결정화 반가기 시간과 Hoffman-Lauritzen 식의 매개변수들이 전단속도, 전단부가시간, 결정화 온도 등의 이력에 무관하게 전단응력에 따라 선형적으로 변하고 있으므로 전단유도 결정화거동은 수지 에 부가되는 전단응력에 직접적인 영향을 받음을 알수 있었다. 이상과같은 전단유도 결정화 거동에 관한 결과를 가공공정상의 열전달 현상과 결합하여 해서하면 성형품 내부의모폴로지 의 예측이 가능하므로 성형품 물성의 극대화 방안의 수립에 이용될수 있을것으로 사료된다.

A study using HGLM on regional difference of the dead due to injuries (손상으로 인한 사망자의 지역별 차이에 대한 HGLM을 이용한 연구)

  • In this paper, we systematically investigate regional differences of the dead due to injuries in cities, towns and counties about transportation accidents, suicides and fall accidents, which have recently been an important issue of health problems in Korea, The data are from the Annual Report on the Cause of Death Statistics in Korea in 2008. They include the deaths over the age 19 from transportation accidents, suicides and fall accidents with the criterion of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases. Poisson HGLM is applied to estimate the mortality rate under the assumption that the number of deaths follow a Poisson distribution, by considering regions as random effects and by adjusting age, sex and standardized residence tax as fixed effects. Using the results of random effects prediction, the regional differences in cities, counties and towns are marked in disease mapping. The results showed that there were significant regional differences of mortality rates for transportation accidents and suicides, but no significant differences for fall accidents.

An Empirical Study on the Marketing Performance of e-Trade using Search Engine Optimization (검색엔진 최적화(SEO) 기법을 활용한 전자무역 마케팅 성과에 관한 실증연구)

  • Recently marketing methods of small and medium exporting firms have changed from internet marketing using homepage, or e-catalogs, to search engine marketing. However, there is no specific proof of search engine marketing effectiveness. Therefore the purpose of this research is to explore marketing performance of search engine marketing(SEM) based on search engine optimization. In order to build an optimal SEM strategy, quantitative data are collected from the Google-analytics such as homepage visits, page views, and traffic source for three years. At the same time, this study has carried out a survey to measure the qualitative effectiveness. The result of this quantitative study suggests that the existing carryover effects and lag effects would be maintained through search engine optimization. Meanwhile, the qualitative survey shows that satisfaction and awareness of homepage have been improved after search engine optimization. This can support logically increase of homepage visiting ratio of quantitative analysis. Also exporting companies know very well, that traffic and page views have increased after search engine optimization.
