  • This study investigated the correlation between eating behavior patterns, including eating-habits, food preferences, snack intake levels, and eating-out frequency and stress levels in high school students (males 174 and females 122) in Seoul. Analysis of eating-habits showed that eating-irregularity and eating-speed increased with elevated stress levels in both males and females under stress. The size of meals decreased in males, whereas it increased in females under getting stress (P<0.01). Preferences for sugar, hamburgers, and pizza also increased in both males and females under stress. Eating-out frequency decreased in males with a high stress level (P<0.01), whereas it increased in females. As for eating-out partners, males did not show any changes, whereas females preferred friends to family when under stress. Eating-out expenses also increased in both males and females, particularly in females with a high stress level (P<0.05). Males under increased stress showed effective stress reduction by increasing food intake, whereas females under increased stress showed less effective results. Consequently, high school students under high stress, particularly females, showed negative changes in eating behavior patterns, including irregular eating-habits, increased instant food and snack intakes, and increased frequency of eating-out. Therefore, development of appropriate programs for reducing stress and persistent nutrition education to promote good dietary behaviors are required.

The epistemological orientation of eh narrative analysis is Interpretivism, which blends the two polar philosophical perspectives, Empiricism and Rationalism, and includes Narrotology, Hermeneneutics, Semiotics, and Structural Criticism. Narrative analysis takes as its object of investigation the story itself. This study collects eleven narrative plots from four housewives, into which Labov's structural approach is applied. • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze pre-service teachers' eye-movement in science textbooks in the learning process, whether they perceived "arrow" presented in textbooks, and changes in eye-movement by arrows. For the study, an eye-tracker, a eye-movement tracking device, was used, and 10 pre-service teachers attending a teacher training college were selected and conducted. The science textbook unit used in the research was the "Weather and Our Life" unit, one of the areas of earth science. As a result of the study, first, it was investigated that pre-service teachers devote more time to texts rather than illustrations in the learning process of science textbooks. Second, it was analyzed that pre-service teachers did not pay attention to the "arrow" presented in science textbooks. Third, it was confirmed that in order for "affordance of the eye-movement by arrow" to occur, sufficient concentration on "arrow" should be made. These findings suggest the importance of the learner's visual attention to learning elements in science textbooks such as "arrow". In addition, it suggests the importance of developing a textbook editing design that can induce visual attention to learning elements in textbooks through eye-movement research data for effective learning.

  • This study analyzed the self-identified cold tolerance and wearing behavior of teenagers inside and outside the classroom during winter, considering recent climate changes. A questionnaire was divided into four parts-general information, thermal and comfort sensation inside and outside classroom, self-identified cold tolerance, and wearing behavior to collect data from 322 students. Over several years, changes were noted in respondents' wearing behavior during winter outings, with the biggest being the purchase of a "long padded jacket" for warmth while outside. Most respondents showed similar wearing behavior, such as no difference between the number of clothes worn in a classroom maintained at 20℃ (girls: 8.0±3.1 layer, boys: 6.5±2.1 layer) and outside (girls: 8.8±3.4 layer, boys: 7.1±3.0 layer), despite feeling differently about the thermal sensation inside and outside the classroom. This difference may due to a teenager's lack of knowledge about temperature and their tendency to follow clothing trends. Female students were more sensitive to the cold and wore more garments inside and outside the classroom. Gender-related differences should be considered when educating teenagers about safe and healthy clothing.

The subjects of this study were 287 students, research tool was the structured, anonymous, self-administrated questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSSWIN 18.0, Pearson correlation and Hierarchial multiple regression et al. Significant positive correlation was found between self-efficacy and self-resilience and between self-efficacy and oral health promotion lifestyle and positive correlation was also found between self-resilience and oral health promotion lifestyle. Mother's education, past oral health behavior, self-efficacy, and self-resilience affected oral health promotion lifestyle, with the explanatory power of 32.3%. Since self-efficacy and self-resilience are correlated with oral health promotion lifestyle, it is necessary to develop a plan for activating oral health education with the objective of improving the combination of these factors.

To achieve this purpose, the study suggested a body image formation model of adolescents that can be applied to home economics education, and based on this formation model, analyzed contents on body image of current 12 textbooks of home economics education. The main results of this study are summarized as follows: First, to analyze textbook through body image formation model of adolescents, educational contents about body image were categorized into 4 constructs with 8 sub-categories. Second, we found the current textbooks about the child and family life field, food and dietary life field, and clothing life, are handling topics regarding body image formation model of adolescents, such as concepts and components of body image and antecedents and outcomes of body image. We conclude that although the current textbooks handles contents on body image of adolescents, those contents are sporadically presented across the three fields without an integrated perspective. Home Economics, as an entity of educating adolescents' self-esteem through daily life activities, needs to have a topic-oriented approach in developing a curriculum.

Addiction and normal groups consisted of 29 (10.1%) and 259 students (89.9%). Average usage time of the smartphone addiction group was higher than that of the normal group (P<0.001). Percentages of using a smartphone when eating meals as well as skipping meals due to using a smartphone were also higher in the addiction group than the normal group (P<0.01). Degree of reduction of physical activity and sleep disorders due to using a smartphone were higher in the addiction group than the normal group (P<0.001). However, nutritional knowledge related to protein and dietary life scored lower in the addiction group than the normal group (P<0.05). Correlation between smartphone usage time and eating behaviors was as follows: smartphone usage time on weekdays increased with elevated usage time on weekends in the addiction group (+0.742) (P<0.001) and the normal group (+0.762) (P<0.001). Frequency of snack intake in the addiction group increased with elevated usage time on weekdays (+0.460) (P<0.05). Sleeping time of the normal group decreased with elevated usage time on weekdays (-0.150) (P<0.05), and good eating behaviors decreased with elevated usage time the on weekend (-0.143) (P<0.05). Consequently, smartphone addiction in elementary school students showed negative eating behaviors. Therefore, effective nutritional education programs and national support policy are required to solve problems of unhealthy eating behaviors from smartphone usage in elementary school students.
