  • With the announcement of Basel II Accord in 2004, worldwidebanks have been strengthening their risk management system. Under the circumstances, S became the first bank among other financial institutions in Korea to establish bank-wide BCP process that goes beyond the past Disaster Recovery Planning or DRP. Considering that the purpose of the process is to guarantee stability of work under the real disastrous situation, other banks are anticipated to introduce the process sooner or later to cope with any possible disaster and adhere Basel II Accord. The purpose of this thesis is to see how much impact does the work process or its improvement would have on employees' satisfaction level by considering Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) via Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and influence of BCP process implementation on parties involved.

  • 지난 2004년 6월 24일에 공표된 신BIS 자기자본규제제도에 의거 회원국 은행들에 대한 체계적인 위험관리가 강화되는 상황에서 우리나라도 2009년부터 모든 은행이 신BIS기준을 도입및 적용할 예정이다. 신BIS협약은 운영리스크(부적절한 내부절차, 직원, 시스템)에 대해서도 리스크를 측정하여 은행의 소요 자기자본에 반영토록 하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구자는 은행의 조직환경 변수들이 조직유효성에 영향을 미치고 이들이 또한 내부통제절차의 상시 유효성에 영향을 미치는 지 알아보기 위하여 국내 소재 은행원들을 대상으로 실증분석함으로써 은행들이 효율적인 내부통제를 통해 금융사고를 미연에 방지하고 은행자산의 건전성에 기여하기 위한 지침을 제시하는 관점에서 연구를 진행하였다. 연구결과, 연구모형에서 예상한 바와 같이 조직환경이 내부통제유효성에 직접적으로 영향을 미치지만 조직몰입도나 집단응집력과 같은 조직유효성을 매개로 하여 내부통제유효성에 더욱더 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이러한 점에 비추어 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 은행내 중간관리자의 성향에 따라 개별조직 구성원들의 행동양식이나 가치관에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 현실을 감안하여 장기적인 안목에서 양질의 리더십, 조직문화 그리고 분위기 등 조직환경을 리드해 나갈 수 있도록 관리자들에 대한 교육훈련 및 소양교육을 지속적으로 펼쳐나가는 것이 중요하다고 본다.

  • Many Korean financial firms have built knowledge management systems, however, most of the systems have fragmentary ideas or suggestions. This study proposes the model of ontology-based knowledge repository through which one could integrate knowledge for business use in the BPM environments. The knowledge includes implicit and explicit knowledge. library materials, documents, and information for experts as well. In order to get basic ideas for this model, case studies utilized interviews and surveys were conducted targeting at four Korean banks' knowledge managers, librarians and thirty staffs.

Industrial Fatigue due to Banking Operations with VDT (은행원의 VDT작업에 따른 피로자각증상)

  • In order to investigate industrial fatigue due to visual display terminal (VDT) work of banking operations the questionnaire survey for subjective symptoms of fatigue was carried out on 470 bank clerks who had been engaged in VDT work for various length of work hours. The questionnaires comprised three groups of 10 items each, representing dullness and sleepiness (level of cerebral activation), difficulty in concentration (level of motivation) and bodily projection of fatigue. The results were as follows : 1. Of the 30 items of questionnaires, the highest percentage was accounted for by 'eye strain' (51.5% ), followed by 'feel stiffness in the neck or the shoulders'(33.4%), 'feel a pain in the low back'(26.8%), 'whole body feels tired'(19.6%) and 'feel headache'(17.9%) in the order of sequence. 2. The average weighted score for the first group of questionnaire items (dullness and sleepiness) was the largest among three groups and was followed by 'the third cup (bodily projection of fatigue) and the second item group (difficulty in concentration) in the order of sequence, suggesting the heavier mental stress of VDT work in banking operations rather than physical burden. 3. In terms of the age and sex of workers, work duration and VDT work percentage, the difference in average weighted score was noted only between sex, the score of female being larger than that of male. 4. The complaint rates of subjective symptoms showed close associations with the subjective optimums of room temperature, ventilation, illumination and noise level. 5. The significant correlation was showed between age, work duration and item of 'whole body feels tired', between VDT work percentage and items of 'eye strain' and 'feel stiffness in the neck or shoulders' and between all items of subjective symptoms.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact on job satisfaction of the chinese bank staff by judging their motivators and hygiene factors. To explore the regulation of demographic characteristics between motivators, hygiene factors and job satisfaction. In the banking organization through the use of various elements of motivation duties assigned to meet organizational objectives put forward in order to achieve an effective incentive scheme given. In summary the results of analysis, the impact on motivator and job satisfaction in the work itself the result of regression analysis, promotion and recognition of the growth and job satisfaction in order to affect a positive sense of accomplishment and responsibility on the other hand, the task appeared was found not to affect satisfaction. The motivators of the bankers its positive influence on job satisfaction than hygiene factors were relatively high. And moderating effect of demographic characteristics and to validate the results, demographic characteristics and health factors are motivation and job satisfaction in the relationship between the presence of the control effect was analyzed. The relationship between motivation and job satisfaction is the demographic characteristics were analyzed to control that acts as a tour director, Hygiene factors influence job satisfaction is based on demographic characteristics was analyzed the age and education have been shown to exist, while Sex, tours, position the relationship between job satisfaction and hygiene factors do not exist in the control effect was analyzed.

  • Attitude on smoking and drinking among group of salary earners comprised of 400 primary, middle, and high school teachers, bankers and public servants who serviced in Kwang ju city area, was studied during the period of a month from may to June 1969. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. 144 persons (36.0%) out of 400 salary eaners were smoking cigarettes, and, in sex, 0.7%(1 out of 137) was shown in female and 54.3%(143 out of 263) was in male. 2. More than half of the smokers(59.0%) smoked 11-20 pieces of cigarettes a day, and 36.8% did less than 10 pieces, 1.4% did 21-30 pieces a day. 3. 175 persons (43.7%) out of 400 total interviewers liked to drink. and in sex 63.8% for male and 2.7% for female. 4. On the quantity of drinking Makkuli (special Korean alcoholic beverage, containing 2-4% alcohol) 114 persons (65.1%) showed less than 5 Hop and 37 persons(21.1%) showed 6-10 Hop, and 10.3% showed 11-20 Hop, and 2.9% liked to drink more than 20 Hop.

  • Work and family are two major fields of one's life. In the past, the role of each gender has been separated, and there was no conflict between two fields. However, the increasing rate of working woman and the mode of social change that the male has also responsible of caring family and individuals has more interested in their personal life make consider these two fields as a whole. A number of studies have shown that OCB contribute in important ways to organizational functioning and performance. Whereas citizenship behavior may affect organizations in several positive ways, it is also possible that engaging in such behaviors could have negative consequences for the employees who do so. There may be other personal costs such as work-family conflict that accrue to individuals who engage in high levels of citizenship behavior. The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effect of the SOC strategy and Family Friendly Atmosphere on the negative effects of OCB on Work-Family Conflict. Questionnaire data were collected from 590 in different jobs. According to the result of empirical analysis, it proved that the more OCB effect on the more Work-Family Conflict. it also was found that the SOC strategy and Family Friendly Atmosphere moderate the relation between OCB and Work-Family Conflict. At the end of the paper, theoretical and managerial implications of this study, future research directions are discussed.

Fatigue Subjective Symptoms and Risk Factors in Bank Workers with VDT (VDT작업 은행원들의 피로자각증상 조사)

  • Objectives : To investigate the fatigue subjective symptoms and VDT related risk factors in bank workers. Methods : A total of 2178 workers (62.8% male, 37.2% female) were surveyed with a self-administered and structured questionnaire consisting of 30 fatigue symptoms and other VDT related factors regarding work characteristics, work postures, work environments, personal medical histories, etc. Fatigue subjective symptoms were divided into 3 groups of 10 questions each: a dull, drowsy and exhausted feeling (Group I), a mental decline of working motivation (Group II), or a feeling of incongruity in the body and dysfunction of autonomic nervous system (Group III). Each question was weighted as 0 for 'none', 1 for 'sometimes', and 2 for 'always'. Results : Mean age was $35.8{\pm}7.2$ years ($38.9{\pm}6.0$ in males, $30.6{\pm}5.8$ in females), Mean work duration was $7.7{\pm}7.1$ years ($8.4{\pm}7.4$ in males, $6.5{\pm}6.4$ in females). Mean symptom score in males was $11.0{\pm}8.1$ ($4.9{\pm}3.1$ in Group I, $3.0{\pm}3.1$ in Group II, $3.1{\pm}2.8$ in Group III) and in females was $17.5{\pm}9.5$ ($7.0{\pm}3.8$ in Group I, $4.6{\pm}3.5$ in Group II, $5.9{\pm}3.4$ in Group III). Mean scores were higher in the order of Group I>III>II. Females had significantly higher scores than males in all three groups (p<0.001). Most common symptoms complained of as 'always' or 'sometimes' were feel strained in the eyes' (85.4%) among Group I, 'find difficulty in thinking'(54.2%) among Group II, and 'feel stiff in the shoulders (72.3%) among Group III. In multiple regression analysis, female, non-straight spine at workstation, more VDT work hours, history of physical therapy, glare of screen, overtime work, young age, and non-horizontal elbow position were significantly related with high score of symptoms. Conclusions : More supportive VDT work environment and education for correct work postures for VDT workers are recommended.

Effect of Acceptance of Digital Innovation on Business Performance of Financial Institution Workers (금융기관 종사자들의 디지털 혁신에 대한 수용이 업무성과에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • Recently, the financial industry has seen a dramatic change due to the development of innovative technologies such as FinTech, but there is a lack of research on the digital level of financial institution workers. This study analyzes factors that affect the willingness of financial institution workers to accept digital innovation and to examine the relationship between acceptance intention and business performance. Based on the theoretical basis of UTAUT, independent variables were divided into internal expectations, external influences, facilitation conditions, and employment risks. Survey data of 100 bankers at N bank were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS 18. Studies have shown that internal expectations and external influences have positive effects on the acceptance intention of financial institution workers, and that facilitation conditions, employment risks do not. This study found a significant relationship between acceptance intention and business performance and confirming that acceptance intention has a direct and indirect impact on business performance. Study findings could be a reference to enhancing the willingness to accept digital innovation technologies and developing ways to improve business performance by validating factors that affect the willingness of financial institution workers to accept digital innovation.

Establishment of Bank Channel Strategy using Correspondence Analysis : Based on the Customer's Choice Factors of Bank Channel (대응분석을 이용한 은행 채널전략 수립연구 : 고객의 은행채널 선택요인을 바탕으로)

  • For the efficient establishment of a channel strategy for banks, this study aims to propose a channel model by classifying channels into types, and carrying out a correspondence analysis per type. A survey of bankers was conducted to visualize categorical data and create a positioning map. As a result, first, 12 banking channels were classified into 4 types based on business processing subjects and places, which were then, further grouped into the categories of full-banking and self-banking. Second, a correspondence analysis according to the classified types was carried out, and it was found that the branch-type is suitable for product description and customer management, while the banking-type is suitable for efficient business processing without time and space constraints. Furthermore, the analysis also showed that the machine-type and banking-type are inappropriate for customer management, and the mobility-type demonstrates low operational effectiveness due to a lack of awareness. The aforementioned findings suggest the need for a hybrid convergence channel that reflects the characteristics of banking tasks and fills in the gaps between the different channels. Third, a channel model was derived by adding a common area to the 2×2 model consisting of the business processing subjects and places. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that it examines the diversification of channels and factors in the division of roles by channel type based on customers' banking channel selection factors, and presents basic research findings for future channel strategy establishment and efficient channel operation.
