Development and Application of an Artificial Intelligence Convergence Education Program Linked to School Library Reading Activities for Middle School Students (중학생을 위한 학교도서관의 독서활동 연계 인공지능 융합교육 프로그램의 개발과 적용)

  • Recently, there has been a growing demand for school libraries to take on the role of curriculum convergence and content development. This study purposed to develop a program that integrates reading activities and artificial intelligence (AI) education in a middle school library as a platform for convergence education. The program aimed to enhance creative problem-solving skills by integrating an understanding of AI concepts and principles through reading activities related to AI topics. The program, comprising 18 sessions (6 modules), was implemented with 36 first-year students at A Middle School, Gyeonggi-do, in 2022. After implementation, a paired-sample t-test revealed significant improvements in AI learning self-efficacy and creative problem-solving skills. Participants also showed positive attitudes toward class engagement and reading activities. Implications for AI convergence education in connection with school libraries were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of AI convergence education program. To this end, the "Elementary Science AI Convergence Education Program for Machine Learning" developed in previous research were taught to elementary school students in the fourth to sixth grades in eight times. The quantitative changes of each factor were analyzed by R program, and the effectiveness of education was analyzed by Pearson correlation and paired samples t-test. As a result, there is a deep correlation between "Attitude to AI technology, Scientific preference and STEAM Literacy" and technical average has improved in many factors. Therefore, AI convergence education program is meaningful in terms of education, and if AI education and AI convergence education are implemented into the primary formal education curriculum, they will have a positive effect.

  • The purposes of this study were to development and verify the effect of educational program apply on STEAM for the mathematical prodigy. To accomplish these purposes literature review on development of the program and qualitative study were conducted. The mixed-model design was applied for this qualitative experimental study. The conclusions of this study were as follows. First, the program for mathematical prodigy education applied on the conceptual model of STEAM integration approach was developed. Second, a learning satisfaction about constitution of the workbook was lowly. Third, principal of STEAM was the best interest and difficult of the program applied on STEAM. Fourth, the creativity and problem solving ability was founded about angle and velocity of mathematical domain and making the Angrybirds Game on GeoGebra environment. In spite of difficulty about principal of the Angrybirds Game, confidence and satisfaction were founded about a result product.

An Evaluation Study of an ESP Module Program Combining with Keller's Learning Motivation Model for the 1st grade Nursing Students (학습동기모델과 특수목적영어 융합 모듈 프로그램 평가연구: 간호학과 신입생을 대상으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of an ESP module program which combines Keller's ARCS model for the $1^{st}$ grade nursing students. Students' learning motivation and academic achievement were compared between an intervention group and a control group and their perception and subjective effects on the module program were identified. Quantitative data showed that the overall level of learning motivation in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control group (t=2.391, p=.019). No significant difference was found on the level of academic achievement between two groups (t=0.116, p=.098). Contents analysis on the qualitative data showed that ESP module program was interesting, effective, helpful for understanding clinical settings, and giving confidence and satisfaction. According to the result, it is assumed that the ESP module program which combines ARCS model can be effective in motivating the $1^{st}$ grade nursing students to learn nursing contents and English.

The Effect of STEAM Program for Hydroelectric Energy on Elementary Students' Energy Literacy and Creative Problem-solving (수력에너지에 관한 융합인재교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 에너지소양과 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, a convergence talent education program was developed and applied to elementary school students to investigate its effect on their energy literacy and creative problem-solving ability. Accordingly, a study was conducted on 29 sixth-grade elementary school students. The results of pre- and post-tests on energy literacy and creative problem-solving ability were analyzed. The results revealed that the convergence talent education program on hydraulic energy had a positive effect on the elementary school students' energy literacy as well as their creative problem-solving ability. Furthermore, after completing the hydro-energy convergence talent education program, the students' interest in energy and science increased and they wanted to connect such with their daily life. It appears that meaningful results were obtained through the convergence talent education program, specifically in the process of generating and utilizing hydraulic energy a plan was developed to allow students to solve problems in student-centered classes.

The Effects of The concentration Program Based on Acceptance-Commitment Therapy with High School Students (수용전념치료 기반 집중력프로그램이 고등학생들의 집중력 증가에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of the this study was to evaluate the effects of self-Control, avoidance cognitive fusion, concentration and learning attitude with high school students. For this, the group acceptance-commitment therapy programs were administered for 12 sessions on a weekly basis. 10 high school students were assigned to treatment group and 10 were assigned to control group. Both pre- post- follow-up of self-Control, avoidance cognitive fusion, concentration and learning attitude were assessed. The results were as the treatment group reported significantly lower avoid fusion to the control group. In addition, the treatment group reported significantly higher score level of self-Control, concentration and learning attitude compared to control. Results indicate that the treatment group is more capable than the control group, of decreasing avoid fusion, while increasing self-Control, concentration and learning attitude. This results suggest that can be applied effectively. Finally, limitations of the present study and suggestions were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of convergence gifted education program for science-physical education on self-efficacy of the gifted students in elementary school. So, the program was carried out for the gifted students in the 5th grade of elementary school during the 8 hours on two subjects, we investigated the cause and effect through the pre-post test of self-efficacy and interview. The results were as follows. First, it was observed that it would have a meaningful effect to improve the self-efficacy of gifted students who performed gifted education program for science-physical education convergence. Especially, the results of 'confidence', 'difficulty preferences' was statistic meaningful differences. Second, convergence gifted education program for science-physical education enhanced confidence and challenge of consciousness of students. Especially, when products of gifted students are applied to real-world valued the higher confidence. Therefore, we found that in order to increase the gifted students' self-efficacy, gifted education program is configured by applying the products to the actual field.

The Relationship of Engineering Education Accreditation Program, Gender, and Academic Year with Attitude towards Convergence among Engineering Students: Application of Latent Class Analysis (공과대학 학생들의 융합에 대한 태도와 공학교육인증, 성별, 학년과의 관련성 -잠재집단분석의 적용-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate engineering students' attitude toward convergence and relevance with engineering education accreditation, gender, and academic year and attitude toward convergence. To be specific, fist, we examined whether the instrument for measuring attitudes toward convergence were reliable and valid for engineering students. Second, we compared levels of attitudes toward convergence in terms of engineering education accreditation, gender and academic year. Third, latent classes, which were distinguished in terms of attitudes toward convergence, were identified. Participants were 2076 engineering students. By using factor analysis and Rasch analysis, validity and reliability of instrument measuring attitudes toward convergence were confirmed. The differences in attitude toward convergence in terms of engineering education accreditation experience, gender, and academic year were examined by independent t-test and ANOVA. There were significant differences in attitude towards convergence in terms of engineering education accreditation, gender, and academic year. Students who experience engineering education accreditation program and male and high academic year have higher levels of attitude toward convergence than others. Lastly latent class analysis (LCA) was conducted to identify subgroups underlying engineering students in terms of attitude toward convergence and five latent classes were identified. In addition, the chi-square results showed that there were significant relationships between identified latent classes and engineering education accreditation, gender, and academic year. Based on these results, engineering education considering students' characteristics and diversity in attitude toward convergence were discussed.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 국가경쟁력 향상을 위한 세계적인 융합의 흐름을 대비하여 융합 기반인 교육용 로봇을 활용한 창의적 체험활동 프로그램을 설계하는데 있다. 이를 통해 해외의 정보교육 활성화 경향과는 달리 초등학교에서 소외되는 정보교육의 중요성을 부각시키고, 창의성과 인성을 강조하는 창의적 체험활동에서 자연스럽게 활용되기 위함이다. 이에 교육용 로봇을 활용한 융합교육 단계와 프로그램 교수 학습 모형의 설계를 통해 초등학교의 창의적 체험활동에서 활용될 수 있는 프로그램의 토대가 되고자 한다.
