  • This study examines the literature regarding teacher-child interaction in the classroom, aiming to find ways to support child-care teachers in improving the quality of teacher-child interaction. The study selected studies exploring teacher-education programs that aim to support child-care teachers in interacting with their children in the classroom in a quality manner. The selected studies were analyzed, by focusing on how the study proposes ways to support child-care teachers in interacting with their children in a quality manner. The results of previous studies are as follows: 1) the literature tends to focus on teachers' language interaction with their children in the classroom; 2) the literature tends to apply a variety of observation tools (or coding schemes) to measure teacher-child interaction in child-care settings; 3) the literature prefers individualized approaches such as mentoring or consulting as ways of supporting child-care teachers in interacting with their children in a quality manner; and 4) the literature aims in general to improve teachers' self-reflection skills.

  • This study is intended to look into early childhood teachers' perceptions and needs for forest experience activities. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 170 early childhood teachers in kindergartens and child care centers in Daejeon city. The SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) v. 18.0 was used for data analysis through the process of data coding and data cleaning. The frequency analysis was conducted for the general state of those surveyed. The frequency analysis, ANOVA and factor analysis were conducted for the perceptions and needs for forest experience activities. The findings showed that early childhood teachers had positive perceptions for the educational effects of forest experience activities. Especially, they perceived that the educational programs of forest experience activities need to be highly recommended to early children as forest experience education is important for forest experience activities. Consequently, forest experience education is just as important and useful for early children to learn the importance of coexistence with human and nature, and develop a sense of community by interacting with nature.

  • The meaning of the mentee's experiences who participated in the mentoring program for freshmen of department of early childhood education The purpose of this study was to find the mentee's experiences and the meaning of mentee's experiences who participated in a mentoring program. The participants were 13 freshmen of early childhood education department in a three-year junior college. The data was collected through journal, open questionnaire, interview from March 21st to September 9th in 2010. The data was analyzed by segmenting, primary coding and depths coding. At the first session the mentees experienced complicated feelings, expectation of relationships with their mentors and acquired a lot of information from the mentoring program. Through the whole program mentees learned and executed many things: a time management, a good presentation skill, a reference searching way, preparation for exam, and career management. However, they felt sorry for that there was not informal meeting with their mentors. They thought the experience lucky, which is very difficult to have. So they want to give the experience back to their mentors and future mentees. They suggested advanced mentoring program based on their experiences as well.

  • This research is to understand young children ontologically by examining features of young children in the picture books for the early childhood. For the purpose, under the consultation with a picture book specialist and three level process of selection, 4 picture books were chosen as analytic objects. The study questions is as follows. What is ontological understandings on young children throughout picture books for the early childhood? Under this purpose the books chosen were John Burningham's , David Wiesner's , Hina Back's , Peter Sis's . The books went through dramaturgical coding and were thematised based on the theories of ontological phenomenology. Study results show that young child-being appearing in the picture-books are thematised as 'multi layered being with Ntwurf and Geworfenheit(Aldo)', 'responsible being risen above greed(Plotsam)', 'reflective being on face of others(Fairy of Jangsutang)', 'being who encourages educational response of adults.(Madlenka's Dog)' These results revealed that young child-being have features not different from (multi layered aspect of being), unique from(encouraging educational response), and beyond adult-being(responsibility and response towards others). Despite several limitations, this study helped understand the young children ontologically by revealing that they, not only as developmental beings with imperfection, dependence, and immaturity but as multi layered and requesting, responsible being, having the same features as adults and, at times, rise above adult-being.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore five-year-old popular child's behavior patterns through participant observation and to analyze the collected data with qualitative method. One popular child was selected from D child care center of P city in Kyeonggi province. Peer-nomination method was used to select the popular child. Participant observation was conducted from April to November in 2017 through 36 observations in free choice activities. As well as observation records, formal and informal interview records with parents and teachers, parent counseling journals, observation journals, and child's personal records were used to understand the popular child. Three steps, including recording, coding, and making themes, were conducted to analyze the data. The main results of the research were as follows: The behavior patterns of popular child in this study presented both positive and negative sides. The positive behavior patterns included consideration, responsibility, high concentration, and a sense of humor. The negative behavior patterns showed control and exclusion. This study has implications for development of educational program and environment to enhance positive peer relationship.

  • Automatic generation of captions for an image is a very difficult task, due to the necessity of computer vision and natural language processing technologies. However, this task has many important applications, such as early childhood education, image retrieval, and navigation for blind. In this paper, we describe a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) model for generating image captions, which takes image features extracted from a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). We demonstrate that our models produce state of the art results in image caption generation experiments on the Flickr 8K, Flickr 30K, and MS COCO datasets.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors and reasons for hiring kindergarten teachers and to provide information for successful employment to the college. 12 private kindergarten chiefs over 10 years of experience were conducted in - depth interviews. In-depth interview data were analyzed using open coding analysis. 11 sub - factors of each core concept were derived, and they were nominated as 4 outline (character, sociality, personality & professionalism factors). All of the researchers perceived the sincerity, interpersonal stability, honesty, and ability to perform the curriculum as the most important factors to consider, and the teacher with good personality was perceived as the precondition of successful teacher's job performance. In the college, through the production of portfolios by subject, we raised the necessity of institutionalization of educational volunteer activities such as vacation - based education in addition to on - the - spot education at school and development of liberal arts curriculum to develop capacity for community life. And to develop and operate a field-oriented comparative education program to strengthen the competence of the majors.

The data were collected through the interviews which were conducted during 10 months from March, 2013 to December, 2013. The Data were analyzed according to a grounded theory methodology. The process of meaning construction on children's happiness by mothers included 4 stages, which are as follows. 'Following inseparated social desire and demands', 'Looking around my desire and children's happiness', 'Rearranging interlacing desire' and 'Going to find my children's happiness and my happiness'. And the stages were interacting mothers'time perspectives and diverse ecosystems. Based on the results, the study discussed the characters of interaction on time perspectives and parenting, and discussed influences of meaning construction on happiness.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition and qualities of early childhood coding education in childcare center teachers. Methods: 158 childcare center teachers responded to 56 questions on a questionnaire extracted and revised from previous research. Frequency analysis and one-way ANOVA were applied for the data analysis. Results: Many teachers agreed that the software education policy was timely appropriate. Most of them needed the education in order to improve children's creativity and problem solving ability, and answered that it is appropriate to start the education at age 5. Most of them recognized that small group and free choice activities, play activities linked with daily life topics and coding programs by the childcare center teachers were desirable as educational methods. Provision of educational HW/SW environment was a relatively important element for effective implementation of the education. The coding educational qualities perceived by the teachers were not high, and were related to the age of the children they were in charge of and their computer literacy. Conclusion/Implications: The recognition of childcare center teachers was relatively positive, but it is necessary to educate the teachers to improve their recognition and qualities of the education in consideration of teachers' variables.
