Mother's Verbal Control and Children's Self-Regulation (어머니의 언어통제와 유아의 자기조절능력)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine difference of Young Children's Self-Regulation by Mother's Verbal Control. To do so, The subject was composed of 146 3-, 4-, 5-year-old recruited from 5 child care centers in I city area And it utilized questionnaires to ask 146 mothers concerning Mother's Verbal Control and Young Children's Self-Regulation. The findings of this study were : First, the age and the gender of young children didn't affect the mother's verbal control. Second, the age of young children positively affected self decision and total self regulation total that is the subordinate area of self regulation. Third, use degree of mother's order and humanity verbal control divided high and low group up to the standard average value. As a result a low rank distribution of mother's verbal control positively affected. Forth, a result a low rank distribution of mother's verbal control positively affected self decision and behavior restrain and emotion and total self regulation total that is the subordinate area of self regulation.

Effect of Home Environmental Stimuli and Mothers' Personal variables in multicultural Family on their Children's Linguistic Abilities (다문화가정 어머니 개인변인과 가정환경자극이 유아 언어능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the effect of home environmental stimuli and mothers' personal variables in multicultural family on children's linguistic abilities. The object of this study is 132 infants and their mothers of 82 infant education institutes located in P city. The main results of the study are as follows: First, the means of communication (generally Korean) is found to have the greatest effect 0n children's linguistic abilities of the personal variables of mothers from multicultural families. Second, the formation of stable and predictable environments affects children's linguistic abilities (receptive and expressive language) most of all the home environmental stimuli. Third, children's receptive language was most affected by the formation of stable and predictable environments, and their expressive language was most affected by the aspects of physical environments.

  • 본 연구는 유아를 대상으로 멀티미디어동화방식과 구연동화방식이 유아의 언어표현력과 그리기 표상능력에 미치는 영향이 다른가를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 구체적으로 설정한 연구문제는 다음과같다. 1. 멀티미디어동화방식과 구연동화방식에 따른 유아의 언어표현력에는 어떤 차이가 있는가? 2. 멀티미디어동화방식과 구연동화방식에 따른 유아의 그리기 표상능력에는 어떤 차이가 있는가? 연구대상은 D광역시에 소재하고 있는 K유치원과 S유치원으로 만5세 유아 50명이었으며, 집단별로 사전과 사후에 각각 그리기 표상능력과 언어표현력 검사를 실시하였다. 실험처치는 5주에 걸쳐 이루어졌으며, 자료 분석은 공변량분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 주요 결과는 첫째, 멀티미디어동화 방식 집단이 구연동화 방식 집단에 비해 언어표현력 점수가 높았고, 둘째, 멀티미디어동화방식 집단이 구연동화방식 집단에 비해 그리기 표상능력 점수가 높았다.

  • 본 연구는 언어경험접근법을 활용한 유아 현장체험활동 프로그램을 개발하고, 개발한 프로그램이 유아의 문해능력 및 창의성에 미치는 영향을 검증하고자 유아의 현장체험활동 프로그램 개발한 후, 현장체험활동 프로그램이 유아의 문해능력과 창의성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 연구하였다. 연구 결과 언어경험접근법을 활용한 유아 현장체험활동 프로그램은 유아 수용어휘능력 및 표현어휘능력 증진에 효과적인 것으로 나타났으며, 창의성의 하위요인에 있어서도 독창성, 유창성, 융통성, 상상력 증진에 긍정적인 효과를 미친 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 언어경험접근법을 활용한 유아 현장체험활동 프로그램은 유아의 문해능력과 창의성 증진에 효과적인 교수 전략인 것으로 해석된다.

The Effects of Young Children's Verbal Expression Ability on Their Prosocial Behaviors (유아의 언어표현능력이 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of young children's verbal expression on their prosocial behaviors. The subjects were 44 four-year-olds and 42 five-year- olds in nine kindergartens and daycare centers located in Gyeonggi-do. The instruments used were Verbal Expressiveness Inventory(Jang, 1981) and PBSYC for teachers(Kim, 2003). The major findings of the study were as follows: Concerning the correlations between their verbal expression and prosocial behavior, those who had better verbal expression showed more prosocial behavior. The relationships between the subfactors of verbal expression and those of prosocial behavior were inconsistent to some extent, but there was a positive correlation between the two overall. So it could be said that a better verbal expresson leads to better prosocial behavior. From the findings of the study on the effect of the verbal expression on prosocial behavior, it can be concluded that young children who have better verbal expression are more excellent at building a good peer relationship, helping their peers, being considerate, making themselves accessible, sharing their own belongings with peers and regulating their own emotions. This study is expected to assist early childhood education institutions to provide young children with a variety of educational activities geared toward improving verbal expression to improve their prosocial behaviors. Also, this study is expected to help teachers to improve the prosocial behavior of young children in diverse ways.

The Study on Developing an Integrated Early Childhood Music Education Program Using Storytelling Songs and Exploring Its Effects (노래동화를 활용한 통합적 유아음악교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an integrated early childhood music education program using storytelling songs and to examine its possible effects by analyzing musical expression ability, language expression ability and creativity. In order to verify the effect of the program developed in the study, 68 4-year old preschoolers were selected from 2 preschools to be divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was given the integrated music education program 16 times in total (two times a week for 8 weeks). The data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this study were : First, it was found that the integrated early childhood music education program using storytelling songs had a positive effect on children's musical expression ability and linguistic expression ability. Second, it was found that the integrated early childhood music education program using storytelling songs had a positive influence among the sub-areas of creativity.

Social Competence, Language and Literacy Ability of Kindergartners: The Affects of Parent-Child Interaction, Peer Interaction and Teacher-Child Interaction (부모-유아 상호작용, 또래상호작용, 교사-유아 상호작용이 유아의 사회적 유능감과 언어 및 문해 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the affects of Parent-child interaction, peer interaction and teacher-child interaction on kindergartners' social competence, language and literacy Ability. Participants were 1203 children attending panel study on Korean children. It used the 'Social Competence Inventory', 'SECCYD', 'HEQ', 'PIPPS' and the 'Teacher-Child Relation Scale' in collection of data. Collected data were analyzed through the SPSS 18.0 program and pearson's correlation and step-wise multi regression analysis. Findings are as follows. First, there were positive correlations between children's social competence and parent-child interaction, peer interaction and teacher-child interaction. Second, there were positive correlations between children's language and literacy ability and peer interaction and teacher-child interaction. Third, Parent-child interaction, peer interaction were predictable variable affecting the young children's social competence. Fourth, peer interaction and teacher-child interaction were found to be predictable variables affecting the young children's language and literacy ability.

Social Behaviors, Psychosocial Adjustments, and Language Ability of Aggressive Victims, Passive Victims, and Bullies in Preschool Children (또래 괴롭힘 공격적 피해, 수동적 피해 및 가해 유아의 사회적 행동, 심리사회적 적응과 언어능력)

  • This study investigated prevalence rates and differences in social behaviors, psychosocial adjustments, and language ability of preschool children who engaged in bully/victim subgroups: aggressive victims, passive victims, bullies, and non-involved. The participants were 297 preschool children and their teachers in Jeju City. The teachers measured children's peer victimization, social behaviors, and teacher-child relationships. Children's language ability and self-concept were also assessed by individual interview. There were significant differences in social behaviors, psychosocial adjustments, and language ability among the bully/victim subgroups. Aggressive victims included in a high risk group characterized by a high level of aggression, ADHD, peer rejection as well as conflicted relationships with teachers. Moreover, they had limited language ability. The findings highlight behavioral heterogeneity among the bully/victim subgroups in early childhood.

The Effects of Storybooks-making Activities Based on Masterpiece Appreciation on the Language Expression and Picture Appreciation Ability of Young Children (명화감상에 기초한 이야기책 만들기 활동이 유아의 언어표현력과 그림감상능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study is to understand the effects of storybook making activity based on masterpiece appreciation on the language expression and picture appreciation ability of young children. Targeting 47 five year-old children of S & A kindergartens in Gwangju Metropolitan City, they were randomly assigned like 23 children for experimental group and 24 for comparative group. The experimental group performed the storybook making activity based on masterpiece appreciation for four sessions within 12 weeks while the comparative group expressed their feelings and thought into painting after appreciating masterpieces during the same period of time. Using SPSS 18.0 Program for the collected data, t-test was conducted for differences in the results of language expression and picture appreciation ability. The results of this study are as follows. First, the storybook making activity based on masterpiece appreciation had significant effects on the whole language expression except for sentence length, and it improved the language expression of young children. Second, the storybook making activity based on masterpiece appreciation had significant effects on the overall picture appreciation ability, and it improved the picture appreciation ability of young children. Such results imply that the whole process of appreciating masterpieces and making/appreciating storybook by expressing pre/post stories of painting into writing and drawing would be an effective teaching/learning method for the improvement of language expression and picture appreciation ability of young children.
