The findings of this study showed that the subjects were having different self-images that could be largely classified into five categories, 'father who can't do for family as much as he wants', 'father who has not yet been successful', 'father who feels lonely under his own duty and responsibility, 'father who sacrifices himself for family' and 'father who is different from fathers of the past'. • This study aimed to develop a model to explain the factors influencing father's parenting stress, and to verify the appropriateness of the model. The participants included 1609 fathers with a 5-year old. The study used 2012 Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE), and analyzed with SPSS and AMOS programs. The analysis showed that first, father's income and parental efficacy were negatively related with parenting stress and father's depression and marital conflict were positively related with parenting stress. Second, father's parenting stress was directly and indirectly impacted by parental efficacy and their child's temperament. These results suggest that father education are needed for promoting positive paternal mental health and parental efficacy, to reduce parenting stress of fathers.

The subjects were 383 parents with young children aged 3-5 in Metropolitan area, South Korea. We measured the study variables using the questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation analyses, and the analyses of multiple regression using SPSS 21.0. The results showed that both fathers' sex-role attitude and fathers' parenting involvement had the statistically significant negative correlations with mothers' parenting stress. Second, fathers' sex-role attitude and parenting involvement showed the statistically significant negative effects on mothers' parenting stress. We suggest that it is necessary to promote the fathers modern and desirable sex-role attitude and to support fathers' participation in parenting in order to alleviate the parenting stress of mothers with young children.

  • This study is aimed to determine the relation among fathers' rejective parenting style, fathers' community spirit, and their children's humanity. We also examined whether fathers' community spirit mediates the association between fathers' rejective parenting style and children's humanity. The study used data from 207 4-to 5-year-old children and their fathers from a kindergarten located in Seoul, South Korea. We estimated Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ and Pearson's correlation coefficient, and employed a two-way ANOVA and a multiple regression analysis. In addition, a Sobel test was conducted to examine the mediation effect. The results are as follows. First, There were no significant differences in fathers' rejective parenting style, fathers' community spirit, and their children's humanity by children's sex and age. Second, children's humanity was negatively related to fathers' rejective parenting style and positively related to fathers' community spirit. That is, children's humanity can be improved further by lowering fathers' rejective parenting style and increasing fathers' community spirit. Third, our results showed that fathers' community spirit mediated the association between fathers' rejective parenting style and their children's humanity.

The fourth year data of The Korean Children Panel of the KICCE(2011) was used, and the collected data was fathers and mothers with 1,754 children who are more than 35 months but not more than 42 months. For data analysis, analysis of frequency and correlation analysis were carried out using SPSS 18.0, and they were analysed with Structural Model to observe the relationship of each variable and influence, and it was found that the goodness of fit of the model was outstanding. As a result, the psychological traits of fathers impact directly on mothers' parenting stress. Mothers' psychological features increased mothers' parenting stress by a medium of fathers' parenting stress.
