A Calibration-Free 14b 70MS/s 0.13um CMOS Pipeline A/D Converter with High-Matching 3-D Symmetric Capacitors (높은 정확도의 3차원 대칭 커패시터를 가진 보정기법을 사용하지 않는 14비트 70MS/s 0.13um CMOS 파이프라인 A/D 변환기)

  • This work proposes a calibration-free 14b 70MS/s 0.13um CMOS ADC for high-performance integrated systems such as WLAN and high-definition video systems simultaneously requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed ADC employs signal insensitive 3-D fully symmetric layout techniques in two MDACs for high matching accuracy without any calibration. A three-stage pipeline architecture minimizes power consumption and chip area at the target resolution and sampling rate. The input SHA with a controlled trans-conductance ratio of two amplifier stages simultaneously achieves high gain and high phase margin with gate-bootstrapped sampling switches for 14b input accuracy at the Nyquist frequency. A back-end sub-ranging flash ADC with open-loop offset cancellation and interpolation achieves 6b accuracy at 70MS/s. Low-noise current and voltage references are employed on chip with optional off-chip reference voltages. The prototype ADC implemented in a 0.13um CMOS is based on a 0.35um minimum channel length for 2.5V applications. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.65LSB and l.80LSB, respectively. The prototype ADC shows maximum SNDR and SFDR of 66dB and 81dB and a power consumption of 235mW at 70MS/s. The active die area is $3.3mm^2$.

  • This paper describes a multiphase delay-locked loop (DLL) that generates a 32-phase output clock over the operating frequency range of 40 MHz to 280 MHz. The matrix-based delay line is used for high resolution of 1-bit delay. A calibration scheme, which improves the linearity of a delay line, is achieved by calibrating the nonlinearity of the input stage of the matrix. The multi-phase DLL is fabricated by using 0.11-${\mu}m$ CMOS process with a 1.2 V supply. At the operating frequency of 125MHz, the measurement results shows that the DNL is less than +0.51/-0.12 LSB, and the measured peak-to-peak jitter of the multi-phase DLL is 30 ps with input peak-to-peak jitter of 12.9 ps. The area and power consumption of the implemented DLL are $480{\times}550{\mu}m^2$ and 9.6 mW at the supply voltage of 1.2 V, respectively.

  • A normal incidence ellipsometer is fabricated to measure the optical anisotropy of a small spot whose diameter is less than $8.0{\mu}m$, by adding a beam splitter and a prism to the conventional rotating analyzer type ellipsometer. The polarizing actions of the added optical components are calibrated to improve the accuracy of the anisotropy measurement. The standard deviation of the optical anisotropy factor decreased to 0.00083, and the variation of the optical anisotropy factor of rutile versus sample azimuth angle variation also decreased to 0.015, after adoption of a non-polarizing beam splitter and a quarter wavelength phase retarder, followed by removal of the optical fiber and a careful choice of measurement wavelength.

  • The waveform coding technique has concerned with simply preserving the waveform shape of speech signal through a redundancy reduction process. In the case of speech synthesis, the waveform coding with high sound quality is mainly used to the synthesis by analysis. However, since the parameters of this coding are not classified into either excitation or vocal tract parameters, it is difficult to applying the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule. In order to apply the waveform coding to the synthesis by rule, the pitch alteration technique is required in prosody control. In this paper, we propose a new pitch alteration method that can change the pitch period in waveform coding by scaling the time-axis and compensating the spectrum. This is relevant to the time-frequency domain method were the phase components of the waveform is preserved with a little spectrum distortion of 2.5 % and less for 50% pitch change.

  • In this paper, we propose a frame synchronization algorithm for robust to the combined effects of large Doppler fluctuations and extended, time-varying multipath in the underwater acoustic communication. From the algorithm, we can recover a high timing error which is occurred from an acoustic propagation delay and uncertainty of oscillator between transmitter and receiver. In order to verify the performance of the synchronization algorithm, the lake trial results are used. The lake experiments are performed in a Gyeongcheonho located in Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. We can see that the start position of frame is adjusted after the frame synchronization while the receiver moving.

  • For a high resolution real-time kinematic GPS surveying using carrier phase, positioning accuracy according to the OTF initialization was better than 1 cm with more than 5-minute initialization within 20 km baseline. Also, it is recommended that measurements be carried out when PDOP and RDOP can be kept less than 4.0 since the geometrical layout of satellites has a great influence on the positioning accuracy. After considering the initial conditions and measuring time zone for real-time kinematic GPS. post-processed continuous kinematic GPS and real-time kinematic GPS measurements have been carried out. A new system has been proposed to store measured data by using a program developed to store GPS data in real time and to monitor the satellite condition through controller at the time of measurement. As a result, it has been revealed that possible noise in surveying could be corrected and the accuracy could be improved.

  • Several experimental techniques for identifying the noise sources distributed over a moving vehicle have been developed recently and are used to design a low noise vehicle. The beamforming method, which uses phase information between several microphones to localize the source position, is proved to be one of the promising techniques applicable even under complicated test environments. In this study a beamforming algorithm is developed and applied to measure the dominant noise sources on a passenger car passing by. Unlike the acoustic signals from a stationary noise source, the sound generated from a moving source is distorted due to the Doppler effects. The information about the speed and relative position of the vehicle are used to eliminate the Doppler effects from the measured acoustic signal by using a de-Dopplerization algorithm. The noise generated from a moving vehicle can be grouped in many ways, however, tire noise and the noise generated from the engine are distinguishable at the speeds being tested.

  • This article investigates the problem of data preprocessing for the precision orbit determination (POD) of low earth orbit satellite using GPS .aw data. Several data preprocessing algorithms have been developed to edit the GPS data automatically such that outlier deletion, cycle slip identification and correction, and time tag error correction. The GPS data are precisely edited for the accuracy of POD. Some methods of data preprocessing are restricted to the rate of the collections of the pseudorange and carrier phase measurements. This study considers the preprocessing efficiency varied with the rate, the quality of receiver and the altitude of the satellite's orbit. We also propose the proper methods in accordance with the rate for single frequency and dual frequency receivers.

  • The objective of current study is to develop an optimization technique for the seismic actively controlled building structures using active tendon devices by an efficient solution of LQR control gain. In order to solve the active control system, the Ricatti closed-loop algorithm has been applied, and the state vector has been formulated by the transfer matrix and solved by a numerical technique of the trapezoidal rule. The time-delay problem has been also considered by phase compensation. To optimize the performance index, the ratio of the weighted matrix is the design variable, allowable story drift limits of IBC 2000 and tendon forces have been applied as restraint conditions, and the optimum control program has been developed with the algorithm of the SUMT technique. In examples of the optimization problem of eight stories shear buildings, it is evaluated that the optimum controlled building is more suitable in the control of earthquake response than the uncontrolled system and can reduce the performance index to compare with the controlled system with a constant ratio of the weighted matrix.

The diffraction property of the bessel beam for defocus (Defous에 따른 bessel beam의 회절 특성)

  • To investigate the diffraction property of the Bessel beam for defocus which acts CFAP (Combined Filter of Amplitude and Phase), we calculated numerically the intensity, the radius of central spot, and the optical transfer function for the number of node of the Bessel beam when an optical system has an aberration-free or a spherical aberration. The Bessel beam has larger the maximum intensity and the OTF value for an optical system with a spherical aberration than that with an aberrationfree. Particularly, the OTF value at the point of maximum intensity for $W_{40}=3\lambda$is higher for the Bessel beam than for the Clear aperture. From these results, we know that the Bessel beam has the compensating effect. The Bessel beam also has the radius of central spot having a superresolution. We will useful for the fabrication of semiconductor device and the optical recording system using these effects.ffects.
