A Study on the Bandwidth Efficiency of MC-CDMA System (MC-CDMA 시스템에서 주파수 대역 효율에 관한 연구)

  • We propose 2-channel filter bank method instead of FFT method to decrease sub-channel interference for using of efficient frequency resource in MC-CDMA method. Since a prototype filter of filter bank having wavelet characteristic is designed having more less side-lobe, the nearest co-channel interference and inter symbol interference are decreased efficiently. Since the spreading signal of suggesting MC-CDMA system is being demanded for less chip rate and is not being considering for autocorrelation characteristic, the Walsh code can be used as a optimal orthogonal signal set. We consider bit error rate and signal to noise ratio to estimate the performance of suggested system on condition that white noise channel and arbitrary sinusoidal jammer are existing. As a result of comparing to traditional FFT-based MC-CDMA simulation result, our suggested system has shown better performance than traditional MC-CDMA method on the side of minimizing interference effect.

A Study on the MRPID parameter tuning method (MRPID 제어기의 튜닝 방법연구)

  • Using multi-resolution, the mutiresolution proportional-integral-derivative(MRPID) controller functions as a filter to eliminate noise and disturbance which are included in error signals. If the sampling frequency is high, the response time will be delayed because of the remaining high frequency component although the overshoot is removed. However, if the sampling frequency is low, the response time will be enhanced by getting rid of signal components while the overshoot is increased. In this paper, the sampling frequency tuning method is used the response of the proportional integral derivative(PID) controller and the MRPID controller, and the parameter tuning method is considered the characteristic of the MRPID controller. The proposal method is verified by computer simulations.

Adaptive Video Coding by Wavelet Transform (웨이브렛 변환에 의한 적응적 동영상 부호화)

  • In this paper, picture set filter is proposed for preserving compression ratio and video qualify. This filter controls the compression ratio of each frame depending on the correlation to the reference frame by selectively eliminating less important high-resolution areas. Consequently, video quality can be preserved and bit rate can be controlled adaptively. In the simulation, to test the performance of the proposed coding method, comparisons with the full search block matching algorithm and the differential image coding algorithm are made. In the former case, video quality, compression ratio and encoding time is improved. In the latter case, video quality is degraded, but compression ratio and encoding time is improved. Consequently. the proposed method shows a reasonably good performance over existing ones.

  • The rotation-invariant pattern recognition filter using circular harmonic function of the wavelet transforme dsreference image by morlet, mexican-hat, and haar wavelt function is proposed. The rotated reference images, the images sililar to the reference image, and the images which are added by random noise are used for the inpt images, and in case of the input images with random noise, they are applied to the recognition after removing the random noise by the transformed moving average method with proper thresholding value and window size. The proposed optical wavelet circular harmonic matched filter (WCHMF) is a type of the matche dfilter, so that it can be applied to the 4f vander lugt optical correlation system. SNR and discrimination capability of the proposed filter are compared with those of the conventional HF, the POCHF, and the BPOCHF. The proper wavelet function for the reference image used in this paper is achieved by applying morlet, mexican-hat, and harr wavelet function ot the proposed filter, and the proposed filter has good SNR and discrimination capability with rotation-invariance in case of the morlet wavelet function.

  • The general wavelet transform has profitable property in non-stationary signal analysis specially. The tunable Q-factor wavelet transform is a fully-discrete wavelet transform for which the Q-factor Q and the asymptotic redundancy r, of the transform are easily and independently specified. In particular, the specified parameters Q and r can be real-valued. Therefore, by tuning Q, the oscillatory behavior of the wavelet can be chosen to match the oscillatory behavior of the signal of interest, so as to enhance the sparsity of a sparse signal representation. The TQWT is well suited to fast algorithms for sparsity-based inverse problems because it is a Parseval frame, easily invertible, and can be efficiently implemented. The transform is based on a real valued scaling factor and is implemented using a perfect reconstruction over-sampled filter bank with real-valued sampling factors. The transform is parameterized by its Q-factor and its over-sampling rate, with modest over-sampling rates being sufficient for the analysis/synthesis functions to be well localized. This paper describes filter design of 2D discrete-time wavelet transform for which the Q-factor is easily specified. With the advantage of this transform, perfect reconstruction filter design and implementation for performance improvement are focused in this paper. Hence, the 2D transform can be tuned according to the oscillatory behavior of the image signal to which it is applied. Therefore, application for performance improvement in multimedia communication field was evaluated.

Topographic Analysis of Bathymetry Data Acquired from the KR1 Area of Northeastern Pacific : Application of Wavelet-based Filter (북동태평양 KR1 광구 수심자료의 지형분석 : 웨이브렛 필터의 적용)

  • 2-D wavelet analysis is applied to bathymetric data from the KR1 area of Korea Deepsea Mining Area. The wavelet analysis is one of the quantitative methods to analyze the topography. The wavelet allows us to create filters to select for topography in a continuous variety of shapes, sizes, and orientation. The 2-D Linear B-spline filter, 100 BS and 100 NF, is convolved with bathymetric data to identify the location of abyssal hills and abyssal troughs in bathymetry. In addition, the 2-D derivative of Cubic B-spline filter, 60 BS and 60 NF, is applied to bathymetric data to find the slope of abyssal hill in bathymetry. These filters were rotated $5^{\circ}$ counterclockwise from NS to match the dominant orientation of seafloor lineament. Both filters result in good match with abyssal hills, troughs, and slopes. This method can apply to fault, fold, and other lineament structures description with variable size. The result of application shows that wavelet analysis of bathymetric data could be used with fundamental data of geophysical analysis.

An Algorithm for the Optimum Separation of Superimposed EMG Signal Using Wavelet Filter (웨이브렛 필터를 이용한 복합 중첩 근신호의 최적화 분리 알고리즘)

  • Clinical myography(EMG) is a technique for diagnosing neuromuscular disorders by analyzing the electrical signal that can be records by needle electrode during a muscular contraction. The EMG signal arises from electrical discharges that accompany the generation of force by groups of muscular fiber, and the analysis of EMG signal provides symptoms that can distinguish disorder of mLecle from disor- ders of nerve. One of the methods for analysis of EMG signal is to separate the individual discharge-the motor unit action potentials(MVAPS) - from EMG signal. But we can only observe the EMG signal that is a superimposed version of time delayed MUAPS. To obtain the information about MUAP(, i.e., position, firing number, magnitude etc), first of all, a method that can separate each MUAP from the EMG signal must be developed Although the methods for MUAP separation have been proposed by many researcherl they have required heavy computational burden. In this paper, we proposed a new method that has less computational burden and performs more reliable separation of superimposed EMG signal using wavelet filter which has multiresolution analysis as major property. As a result, we develope the separation algorithm of superimposed EMG signal which has less computational burden than any other researchers and exacutes exact separation process. The performance of this method has been discussed in the automatic resolving procedure which is neccessary to identify every firing of every motor unit from the EMG pattern.

Performance Comparison of Blocking Artifact Reduction Using a Block Boundary Region Classification (블록 경계 영역 분류를 이용한 블록화 현상 제거 기법의 성능 비교)

  • In this paper, we analyze the blocking artifact in block transform-coded images and propose a classification algorithm which classifies each horizontal and vertical block boundary into four regions of EQ, BA, EE, and AE according to the characteristics of the blocking artifact. We also compare the performance of several blocking artifact reduction methods which can reduce blocking artifact in block transform-coded images well. As the blocking artifact reduction methods, the LOT, Kim's wavelet transform-based method, Yang's POCS, Paek's POCS, and Jang's CM have been selected. Experimental results show that each horizontal and vertical block boundary classified by using the proposed classification algorithm yields different characteristics of discontinuities due to the blocking artifact according to the classified region. It is also shown that the blocking artifact reduction methods using wavelet transform yield better performance over the other methods.

  • This paper proposes efficient VLSI architectures for computation of the 2- D discrete wavelet transform (DWT).   • The use of digital imaging technique and digital contents based on internet has grown rapidly for last several years, and the needs of digital image protection become more important. For the purpose of copyright protection on digital image, the verification of authentication techniques like content authentication, ownership authentication, illegal copy and etc are needs. Digital watermarking, the invisible encryption technique to insert digital watermarking into image, the sophisticated perceptual information should be used for providing transparency and robustness of images on watermarking process. In this paper, we implement the algorithm for preventing forged attack. ownership protection and authentication by transforming the wavelet algorithms in frequency domain in terms of human visual system.
