240 channel Marine Seismic Data Acquisition by Tamhae II (탐해2호의 240채널 해양탄성파 탐사자료취득)

  • The 3-D seismic research vessel, Tamhae II, was built to raise up the probability of the hydrocarbon discovery in the Korean continental shelf and the first test survey was completed in the East Sea. During the survey, the 240 channel 2-D marine seismic data were acquired by the Korean flag vessel for the first time. Tamhae II has been equipped with source, receiver, recording equipment, and navigation equipment as well as an onboard processing system. The source is composed of four subarrays and each subarray has six airguns. Total airgun volume is 4578 $in^3$. The receiver consists of two sets of 3 km long 240 channel streamer. In the first survey, the successful acquisition of 2-D seismic data was accomplished. From the result of the data processing, we confirmed that the high quality seismic data were acquired. For the high quality data acquisition, technology of survey design and planning, operation of vessel and equipments and systematic quality control should be developed.

A Study on the Installation Angle of the Marine Solar Power Generation System (해상용 태양광 발전 시스템의 설치 각도에 관한 연구)

  • A solar power generation system on single point moored offshore plant has independent power system In order to satisfy the maritime environment and account for the number of sunless days, it is important to supply stable electric power to the systems. For these reasons, solar panels are installed in multiple directions. However, a partial shading effect occurs because the amount of light incident on each panel is different. The generated power by the solar generation system installed on land is affected by the latitude, then it is installed at an angle of 30 to $45^{\circ}$. in the case of Korea. In the case of a solar power generation system installed in a mooring type of marine plant, there is a possibility that the maximum power point is outside of the controllable range due to the partial shading effect. Therefore, a power generation loss occurs. By reducing the light amount difference between both panels, the maximum power point can exist in a range where the MPPT algorithm can track the power. The purpose is so the power generation efficiency can be further increased. In this paper, simulation results show that the highest power generation efficiency is obtained at an installation angle of $20^{\circ}$.

A Study on Normal Project Duration for Water Resource Project (수자원시설 건설공사 표준공기 산정을 위한 기초연구)

  • It is important to have enough design and construction duration for infrastructure projects. However, recent water resource project in Korea shows several problems caused by their fast-tract schedule. National Audit Committee report several water resource projects have quality problems caused by insufficient project duration. Especially, water resource projects such as dam and water pipeline construction should have proper time to secure their structure quality. Normal project duration for these projects should be estimated based on previous similar projects' historical data analysis. However there is no standard model which can estimate normal project duration for water resource projects in Korea. There are several normal project duration estimation models for building project developed by public(LH) and private construction companies. However, there is no proper model for water resource projects. So, this study developed normal project duration model for dam and water pipeline projects using historical data and show application of models.

  • Ministry of National Defense, MND, established a "Master Plan of Military Facility" in 2010 based on the defense reform to prepare for future war. It was a plan for consolidating small military facilities into battalion units, reflecting on and preparing for the needs of various changes in defense environment as well as balanced growth of ROK Army, Navy, and Air Force. However, to move forward with "Military Facility Master Plan," current design criteria for military facilities need to be revised to be enacted due to numerous calculation errors in facility footprints because of the absence of a sound facility criteria. Because the future war environment will be changed from Platform basis to Network Centric Warfare basis, Command & Control capability of C4I systems is getting more important. Therefore, Successful mission accomplishment can be secured by convergence of facility and military Information Technology(IT). So, MND should quickly prepare for the operational guidance, design criteria and policy that are suitable for Network Centric Warfare accomplishment, and implement infrastructure of IT and installation of C2 facility in conjunction with consolidation movement of military facilities. In this paper, we propose the defense I3A framework in order to solve this problem.

  • 영국에서는 농촌문제의 심각성과 범정부적 대책 마련에 대한 부처간 인식 공유가 증가함에 따라 2000년 "농촌백서"에 '농촌서비스 표준화(Rural Services Standard, RSS)'를 제정하였다. RSS는 농촌 주민의 삶의 질 제고와 복지 서비스 향상을 위해 달성할 주요 서비스의 National Minimum을 의미한다. 매년 RSS 운용에 대한 지속적인 모니터링을 통하여 내용을 매년 업데이트 하고 있다. 교육 및 아동서비스, 광대역 통신, 사회적 돌봄, 우체국 서비스, 보건, 인터넷 접속, 긴급 서비스, 교통의 8개분야 13개 서비스 기준을 설정 제시하고 있다. 우리의 경우도 농촌 주민의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 범정부적 투자가 이루어져 왔지만 농촌지역의 사회서비스 기준을 도시와 비교해 보면 아직도 부족한 부분이 많이 있다. 농촌 인구가 감소되고 있는 상황에서 지속적인 하드웨어 중심적 투자에 대한 의문제기와 함께 농촌 주민들이 최소한의 공적 서비스를 활용할 수 있는 기반이 되어야한다는 의견이 대립되고 있는 가운데 그 해결책을 찾기 위하여 '농촌 서비스 기준'을 설정하자는 논의가 추진되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 인구 5만 이상 군지역에 속하는 경상북도 울진군 기성면 척산리를 중심으로 농촌 정주지원 서비스 요구사항을 분석하였다. 척산리에는 총가구 187호 363명이 거주하고 있으며 지난 3년간 인구 이동이 전혀 없었다. 주민들의 연령대는 50~60대가 가장 많으며 척산 3리가 가장 고령화 되어 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교통 환경은 좋은 편이었는데 기성공용버스 정류장에 10곳 이상의 차편이 있고 7번 국도가 있어 타 지역으로 이동도 용이하였다. 마을에 보건/의료를 담당하는 곳은 보건진료소뿐이었으며 잦은 외근과 구급약 부족 등으로 불편을 호소하고 있었다. 응급상황 발생시 수송 가능한 응급체계는 갖춰져 있지 않았고 노인들이 가장 많이 이용하는 물리 치료실은 일주일에 3번 개방하기에 불편하다고 하였다. 3층 건물의 복지회관이 있으나 장날(5일장; 1일, 5일)만 개방되어 이용에 한계가 있었고 마을주민을 위해 운영되는 프로그램은 없었다. 논농사 중심의 경제생활이었고, 부녀회와 청년회 등은 면단위 또는 행정리로 묶어서 운영하고 있었다. 주민들은 울진군 면소재지 중 척산리에만 약국이 없어 불편한 사항이 많기에 약국, 물리치료실의 상시 개방을 필요로 하였으며 장날을 이용한 노인대상 영화상영, 강연회 등 다양한 문화프로그램 운영을 희망하였다.

A Study on the Reestablishment of the Drone's Concept (드론 개념의 재정립에 관한 연구)

  • Drone was originally developed for air force aircraft or missile exercise shooting targets, and is being considered as the entire unmanned aircraft to the public. The core concept of a drone can be divided into 'unmanned' and 'aircraft'. However, there are many questions about whether the Fourth Industrial Revolution, expressed as a convergence scientific innovation, is appropriate at a time when smart cities are proposed as a concept of new urban spatial formation, and the role of self-driving vehicles, including drones, is being emphasized within the new urban integrated transport system. In this study, the concept of the existing drones was analyzed for the development process, definitions in each country's laws, and the results of the preceding research to present a concept suitable for future society and a unified term. It is not desirable to define a drone for the purpose of a country, an institution, or an operating entity, depending on the circumstances of the era. It is more reasonable to find the concept of a drone based on human life than in the traditional way, and more reasonable considering the development of the drones in the future. Subsequent studies should be more detailed, more data and research results analyzed, and discussed areas that were not covered in this study. Based on this, research should also be conducted on a variety of topics, including legislation, preparation of operational regulations, and related industrial processes and regulations.

A Study on the Coolant leaks Prevention Design of Heaters for Combat Vehicles (전투차량용 온수히터 냉각수 누수방지 설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a design for preventing coolant leaks in the core part of a heater mounted in a combat vehicle. The heater is a device that makes heated coolant flow through the heater core in the crew room. A problem with coolant leaks in the heater core area during the operation of a combat vehicle was identified. This problem is caused mainly by high pressure at the junction of the tank and tube due to the vulnerability of this area. To solve this problem, an improved core was made by improving the welding method and changing the end region of the heater core to a structure that can withstand high pressure. When pressure was applied sequentially to the existing core and improved core, a leak occurred at 7.0 kgf/㎠ in the existing core while the improved core maintained its structure up to 17.0 kgf/㎠, highlighting the improvement. Finally, performance tests and environment tests were conducted to demonstrate the suitability of the improved structure. The improved heater will be applied to combat vehicles. This paper is expected to serve as a reference for improving defense capabilities by securing reliability as well as the design and analysis of failures of similar equipment.nse capabilities through securing reliability as well as the design and analysis of failures of similar equipment.

  • In the shipbuilding industry, due to the global trends where the number of IT (Information Technology) devices of a smart ship have been increased rapidly, the need to develop a new shipboard backbone network has recently emerged for integrating and managing the IT devices of a smart ship efficiently. A shipboard backbone network requires high survivability because it is constructed in automatic and unmanned smart ships where a failure of the backbone network can cause critical problems. The purpose of this paper thus is to study SAN (Ship Area Network) as a efficient shipboard backbone network, considering particularity of shipboard environment and requirement of high survivability. In order to do so, we designed a dual network topology that all network nodes, including the IT devices installed in a smart ship, are connected each other through dual paths, and reuding tht IT devices pnstalles supporices network survivability as well as t Iffic efficiency for the dual network topology. And then, we verified the performance of the suggested SAN by theoretical and practical analysis including the graph theory, the probability theory, implemental specifications, and computer simulations.

  • The main cause of DMSMS is the rapid replacement cycle and short life cycle of parts, according to the development of science, compared to the long life cycle of weapons systems. In particular, the problem of the supply and demand of such parts becomes even more acute during the operation maintenance phase after the mass production and power generation stage. To eliminate DMSMS problems that arise continuously from development to the operation of weapon systems and select the most cost-effective countermeasures to obsolescence, this paper suggests a standard to determine the appropriate time for quantitative performance improvement by conducting total life cycle cost analysis. For such purpose, this study examined the domestic and overseas cost analysis methods and applied it to single domestic weapon system to verify the research. This study responds to the issue of discontinuing components and helps reduce the total life cycle cost of military products.

Durability Evaluation on the Air-Braking Release Failure Proof Valve of Cargo Train (화물열차 공기제동 완해불량 방지 밸브의 내구성 평가)

  • Cargo train braking uses the pressure changes in the air braking pipe to operate the braking tightening and releasing service repeatedly. Air-braking release failure means partial braking caused by a failure of the variable load valve after the driver handling the brake release. This phenomenon causes wheel flaws while driving a wagon, resulting in wheel breakage or train derailment. This study developed the air-braking release failure proof valve considering the technical requirements of the railway operation corporations. In addition, a durability test of the valve was carried out using a braking performance simulator, and its operating performance was evaluated from the pneumatic history under cyclic braking conditions. The warranty life of this valve was assessed by performing 160,000 cycles of testing of 12 prototypes in accordance with the zero-failure test method, considering the number of braking cycles while driving the wagon. During the durability test, the pneumatic input time, output time, and release velocity were almost constant. The warranty life of this valve was 59,860 times the 95% confidence level, which means that it can be operated without trouble for four years when the valve is installed in the bogie of the wagon.
