  • The relative extrinsic value orientation (REVO) means the relative importance to extrinsic values (e.g. wealth, fame and social approval) compared with intrinsic values (e.g. affiliation, self-acceptance and personal growth). This study aimed to investigate the causal relation between REVO and life-satisfaction using the auto-regressive cross-lagged modeling. For this purpose, 3rd, 5th, and 7th year data from the Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) middle school 1st grade panel was analyzed (N = 2,259; 1,140 males and 1,119 females). The results are as follows; Firstly, positive auto-regressive effects of REVO and life-satisfaction were significant. Secondly, REVO was found to have negative and cross-lagged effect on life-satisfaction. However, cross-lagged effect from life-satisfaction to REVO was not significant. Finally, no gender difference was found in this relationship. These results suggest that low life satisfaction does not cause the relative extrinsic value orientation, but high relative extrinsic value orientation may cause low life satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of work value of vocational counselors on organizational commitment and the mediating effect of job satisfaction. For this aim, this study conducted a survey concerning vocational counseling, work value, organizational commitment and job satisfaction targeting 207 vocational counselors in the Jeonbuk region. Analysis results found higher work value of vocational counselors resulted in higher organizational commitment. Second, concerning the relationship between work value and organizational commitment of vocational counselors, job satisfaction showed a significant mediating effect. Furthermore, in accordance with the type of work value, the relationship between organization commitment and both inherent and extrinsic work value had significant mediating effects on job satisfaction. Through this, the study confirmed that when vocational counselors recognize not only the inherent value of work is high, but also the extrinsic value such as benefits that could be obtained socially and economically through job, it is more likely to lead to increased organizational commitment. In particular, it was confirmed that extrinsic value is relatively more influential on job satisfaction and organizational commitment compared with inherent value. This indicates the importance of improving extrinsic value, such as material compensation and job stability, as well as inherent value, such as confidence and pride about the job, for increasing job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

The collected data from 108 technology teachers in Gwangju city and Jeolla Nam-do, were analyzed and tested at p<.05 or more by using Multiple Regression through SPSS program. The levels of the teachers' job satisfaction and commitment were respectively M=3.91 and M=3.69 at Likert scale. Among 5 intrinsic and 5 extrinsic factors, other factors except for two factors-work environment and salary were, even if a little, satisfied to the teachers. They were more satisfied with the intrinsic factors than the extrinsic. $R^2$=.515 was found between teachers' job satisfaction and the combination of 10 factors-achievement, work itself, responsibility, opportunity for growth, recognition, job safety, work environment, salary, supervision skill, human relation. $R^2$=.616 was between teachers' commitment with the combination of the factors. The combinations were respectively accountable for 51.5% of the job satisfaction change and for 61.6% of the commitment change. The relative importances of the factors were salary first, achievement second and others not for the job satisfaction, and achievement first, opportunity for growth second and others not for the commitment. The generalization of the above results is limited to improving technology teachers' job satisfaction and commitment at the secondary level in Gwangju city and Jeolla Nam-do.

  • For construction companies to become competitive innovative, cost management as well as process improvement are required. Activity-based costing (ABC), which uses cost information to support long-term decision-making, is a tool that enhances a company's competitiveness. In this study, we compare and analyze tradition-based costing (TBC) and ABC to confirm the adequacy of performance-based costing. In addition, we will empirically examine the relationship between the impact of the reward system using ABC on employee satisfaction and involvement. In research results, the influence of the reward system on employee involvement appeared in the order of intrinsic reward (𝛽 = 0.338) and extrinsic reward (𝛽 = 0.308). In addition, the reward system showed positive (+) effects on employee satisfaction, with influence appearing in the order of intrinsic reward (𝛽 = 0.360) and extrinsic reward (𝛽 = 0.337). And employee satisfaction (𝛽 = 0.225) had a positive effect on involvement. We were able to confirm that it is necessary to build a reward system consisting of intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to increase employee satisfaction and involvement.
