This study conducted a topic modeling and semantic network analysis of 'korean wave' and its meaning in Korean society from 2000 to 2019 by applying an agenda setting theory. For this purpose, a total of 197,992 newspaper articles which reported 'korean wave' issues were analyzed by applying topic modeling and semantic network analysis. As a result, first, the word 'korean wave' mainly appeared in korean-related regions in the korean press. culture and economy. second, a total of 9 topics related to korean wave issues appeared. This was followed by 'broadcast', 'export', 'domestic and foreign affairs', 'education', 'beauty and fashion', 'music and performance', 'tourism', 'media(platform)', and 'region'. Lastly, korean wave was mainly discussed at the cultural and economic ares. In addition, it was clustered into five characteristics: 'cultural hallyu', 'business hallyu', 'education', 'environment', and 'geography'.

본 논문에서는 언론사 프레임 분석을 위해 2020 년 2 월 1 일부터 7 개월간 코로나 19 를 언급한 기사 데이터를 수집하여 단어 임베딩을 수행하고, 언론사별 중복단어 행렬로 K-Means Clustering 을 수행하여 군집별로 모인 언론사들의 분포를 살펴본다. 또한, 언론사별 중복되지 않는 유일단어들의 긍정, 부정, 정치적, 경제적 등의 특성에 따라 프레임을 분석하여 파악한다. 이를 통해, 특정 기간동안 코로나 19 관련 기사에서 나타나는 언론사별 프레임을 비교 및 분석하고자 한다.

This thesis discussed the nature of freedom of speech with emphasis on Locke's theory of social contract. First, I examined the nature of freedom of speech induced from Locke's social contract, and argued that the nature of Locke's freedom of speech exists on the self-ownership of humans. Secondly, I studied how Locke's right of self-ownership was related to the right of freedom of speech and how it is realized in civil society. I could analyze how freedom of speech was actualized with un-equality in the social relations. Thirdly, I investigated how locke's possessive freedom of speech was materialized in the market society. I tried to find out the nature of freedom of speech actualization in the capitalist market society. Finally, 1 studied to what extent the state of Locke could intervene the freedom of speech and reconsidered the meaning of locke's limit of natural risht in modern society. Conclusively, Locke's notion of Natural Right and Law of Nature have greatly influenced contemporary idea of free speech. His idea helps understand the position of liberal democratic speech. It also shows well the relation of freedom of speech and Natural Right and has helped us understand freedom of speech in terms of the position of the right of property.

The aim of this study is to propose an integrated press system design for traffic information service by multi-connecting traffic information services which are now being serviced by each different requirements for the press service and by providing advanced traveler information service which organically user oriented design such as traffic broadcast, news, journal, semantic web and also related traffic ontology as well as road traffic information. For the objective, the status of domestic and foreign traffic information supply system was analyzed and then the requirements by media were reviewed. Then, by analyzing the system implementation method and the implementation system the method of implementing such the system was suggested. The design method suggested in this study enabled the information users to utilize a variety of traffic information through intervening between the necessary and sufficient conditions of information users and information suppliers. Throughout the result of this study, for the users who used the integrated transport, the efficient space movement and the economic using value was improved. Providing the traffic information through the press media will become useful information to road drivels, and it is effected that the traffic volume will be dispersed and the traffic jam will be relieved owing to the supply of traffic information to the press.

Journalism and Mass Communication as an academic field is believed more politicized one than pure literature and natural science. With the growth of the media, there follows additional opportunities for media scholars to take a part in politics as well. Few attention was given to understand the status and mechanism of political intervention either as advisers or decision makers though. This study attempts thus to fill this vacuum. For this, first of all, it examines a various types of laws related to media politics. Total number of 164 scholars who participated in 12 councils and commissions were analyzed on the following step. Research shows that there are patterns which favor Seoul National University, U.S. trained Ph. D and geographic preference to the capital. Neither academic excellence nor commitment to public interest appear to have impact on taking those positions. Taking into account media's expansion into politics, it is inevitable for media scholars to take responsibility not only in policy making but in taking leadership. Accordingly, the question of necessity is not who but how as much as manner. The authors hope this study will be a valuable opportunity to establish a kind of ethical standards in media politics.

This study examined the themes and methodologies of 89 game studies published in the fields of media studies, youth studies, and psychology. Youth studies and psychology have mainly covered the theme of game addiction and negative effects. Game research in media studies have covered game use and experience, effects, addiction, regulation, game production, game space, discourse, governmental mechanism, game play as labour, etc. Game research in the fields of youth studies and psychology have mainly relied on surveys and experimental design. Game research in media studies included survey, experimental design, in-depth interviews, participatory observation, data crawling, etc.

It has been 10 years since KBS first broadcasted TV program for the purpose of expanding mutual criticism among Korean mass media. This study conducted a content analysis of KBS episodes for the last 10 years. Through the content analysis, this study explored what the program had showed us in the aspects of 'the subject of criticism', 'the ground of criticism', 'the attribution of criticism'. The content analysis could show meaningful results to the study of media criticism, because it not only provides a meta-analysis of the problems Korean mass media have had for the last 10 years but also examines the program has been consistent in the regard of criticism fairness. The result of this study showed that has pointed out the practices of unfairness, political bias and superficial and shallow reporting as the most critical problems the Korean mass media have. Also, the result showed that had not been consistent in the regards of 'the subject of criticism', 'the ground of criticism', 'the attribution of criticism'. While the program mostly focused on the problems of political bias and unfairness in the early stage, the focus of criticism moved to the problems of sensationalism and superficial reporting laster. This study discussed that the change of criticism might have a relation with the change of KBS governance.

Most studies of Korean Newspaper in historical view have focused on the news writing form and editorial practice. Those studies have much rely on the memories of ex-journalist or the impression of scholars. So this study aims to give the concrete figures of news writing forms and editing practices in 1920-30's by investigating Kim Dong-Seong's activities as a journalist. He was a first journalist who studies journalism. He studied journalism during his stay in the Ohio State University as an english department student. After he came back to Seoul, he worked at the Dong-A Il Bo as an one of the first publish members. His activities as a journalist have much important meanings because of his varied works and careers. He also wrote a practical affair book for reporters which was the first book in Korea. As a result of research about Kim Dong-Seong's activities in 1920-30's, the feature of edit practice in 1920's had much emphasis not only on the headline but on the relation between type and print, and at the same time the combination of news or the change of typography was one of methods which make the editing more variety. News materials were collected varied news sources and legworks by reporter. These results show us that such a news reporting practice in 1920-30's is similar co the contemporary.

This research analyzed the news coverage of controversy over Korean resumption of Wartime Operational Control from the United States in 2006, trying to find various narrative frames and their relevance to the characters of journalistic interpretive communities. Three competitive frames emerged: Self-national defense and peace making, Balance of self-national defense and the Korea-US alliance, and Priority of the Korea-U.S. alliance and national security. Journalistic discourses were also analyzed through the in-depth interviews of 14 journalists from three interpretive communities. The results revealed that competitions of narrative frames reflected the tensed relationship among political power blocs, each representing the liberal, moderate, or conservative camp of Korean society, and preference of journalistic practices such as objective journalism to advocacy journalism. Finally, inferences were made that the clashes among interpretive authorities, existing behind the competition of news frames, restrained public deliberations on a critical incident regarding national security by blocking up the reasoned news coverage of political controversy.

This paper deals with how Korean press constructs the study on human gene in the process to collect information add distribute them to readers by their ideological characteristics. By using frame analysis method, this paper analysis the reality construction of human gene's studies in critical insights and explores some alternatives for solving the social conflict around human gene's study. Based on the study results, this paper suggests that Korean press needs more positive role in establishing a public sphere in order to make a social consensus about ethical issues of human gene's studies.
