Study on Reutilization with Aerobic Microbes of Organic Food Waste Leachates (호기성 미생물을 이용한 음폐수의 처리 및 자원화에 관한 연구)

  • This test established the bioavailability and sample input by mixing the maintaining the microbial machine parts and food waste leachates in weight of 2:1 as advanced experiment, maintaining the constant temperature, agitating and observing its weight and property change for 60 hours. And, I injected daily the established microbial machine parts and food waste leachates rate, maintained the temperature in the reactor with $55{\sim}65^{\circ}C$, and agitated with constant speed. I studied the recycling possibility of food waste leachates by extracting the sample after 24 hours, verifying its characteristics, and repeating the food waste leachates input and sample extraction for about 40 days. Considering all about the results of this study, I saw that 87.32% of food waste leachates was reduced, and the solid of bluebug or food included in the food waste leachates was decomposed within 24 hrs. pH for 43 days after 9 days of stabilization period was maintained from 3.7~3.9 and the ignition loss from 88.67~87.3%, and the quantity of organic matter from 77.6~80.88%. With the similar result daily maintained, it is considered to progress more the minimization by inputting the future food waste leachates. C/N rate satisfies the less than 25 that is the composting basis within 8 days, maintaining between 13~15, with 2% of salt not exceeded, it is able to recycle as the compost of food waste leachates as based on the composting with no extracted heavy metal content.

  • Effective extraction of platinum group elements by dissolving waste platinum scrap from the display industry and solvent extraction, was studied. The extracted platinum solution was prepared as a precursor solution for diesel automotive exhaust gas purification catalyst and its catalytic activity was tested. The behavior of aqueous species of platinum was investigated through solution chemistry and based on the existence and behavior of these chemical species, the possibility of extraction and separation was established. By dissolving waste scrap by electrochemical method, the dissolution time of scrap was shortened and the extraction efficiency was increased. Through separation and removal of rhodium component, solvent extraction by TBP, and stripping by hydrochloric acid, Pt-Chloride-$H_2O$ solution was prepared. And then, an platinum amine complex solution through amination reaction with this solution as a raw material was prepared. The possibility of producing high-value platinum compounds from platinum group waste scrap was investigated by preparing platinum amine complex solution and then examining the catalytic activity with this amine precursor on the combustion reaction of carbon black.

A Study on Absorber in Absorption Heat Pump with Methanol-Glycerine System as a Working Fluid (메탄올-글리세린계를 작동유체로 하는 흡수열펌프에서 흡수기 연구)

  • The improvement of energy conservation mandates decrease consumption of fossil fuels and minimize negative impacts on the environment, which originates from large cooling and heating demand. The absorption heat pump technology has a large potential for energy saving in this respect. Adsorption heat pump is a means to upgrade waste heat without addition of extra thermal energy. The increase of absorbed amount is of great importance for absorption heat pump cycle. In this study, in order to improve the performance of absorber, the absorbers of two different types have been investigated using methanol-glycerine as a working fluid. The former was tangential feed of liquid phase without spiral tube in the absorber and the latter was with spiral tube in the absorber. The latter was found to be more effective in enhancing the mass and heat transfer to increase the absorption performance.

In this study, in order to improve the performance of absorber, the absorber of tangential feed of a liquid phase with spiral tube has been investigated using methanol-glycerine as a working fluid. The spiral tube and tangential feeding generate the turbulence into the liquid flow while increasing the mass and heat transfer coefficients. The simultaneous heat and mass transfer were found to take place in a liquid turbulent film in the absorber with the spiral tube during the process of gas absorption. By calculating mass and heat transfer coefficients by measurement of the concentration and the temperature of each position in the absorber, the entrance was found to be more effective in enhancing mass and heat transfer.

  • As the frequency of earthquakes in some regions including Pohang City has increased in recent years, the need for countermeasures against earthquakes in Korea is demanded from various aspects. Liquefaction occurred after the earthquake, and local residents' anxiety increased due to the lack of preparation for and coping with the earthquake. In order to cope with these phenomena and relieve the anxiety of local residents, we analyze the limitations of the existing earthquake response system and come up with a method to solve them. Therefore, we propose, implement, and prove the possibility of a one-stop mobile support diffusion system capable of expressing and spreading evaluation-based earthquake information that can actively cope with disaster situations.

A Study on the Fuelization of Livestock Sludge Using Thermal Hydrolysis (열가수분해 반응을 이용한 가축분뇨 슬러지의 연료화에 관한 연구)

  • Livestock sludge contains high concentration of organic matter and some heavy metals. In case of discharging into the sea, it might have negative effects in the environment. In this study thermal hydrolysis reaction was applied for livestock sludge to determine the fuelization possibility and obtain the best operation conditions. Livestock sludges were thermally hydrolyzed at temperature range $170{\sim}210^{\circ}C$ in sealed high-temperature reactors. Liquid products and dewatered cakes were analyzed. The operation at $190^{\circ}C$ was found to be best effective condition. High heating value and low heating value were 5,050 kcal/kg and 4,740 kcal/kg, respectively. Therefore, fuelization of livestock sludge using thermal hydrolysis reactor is found to be highly effective.

Effects of Additives and Sintering Method on the Properties of Light Aggregate Prepared from EAF Dust/Clay (첨가제와 소결방법이 EFA Dust/점토 소결체의 경량화에 미치는 영향)

  • EAF(Electric Arc Furnace) Dust classified as special wastes containing heavy metal contaminants may cause to damage an environment such as underground water contamination if they were not treated properly. The possibility of producing the porous sintered body made from EAF Dust/clay composition system was studied. Mixing of EAF Dust and clay was carried out using wet-mixing process and two different sintering methods such as rapid and normal heat treatment were tried. By observing density, porosity and microstructure of sintered bodies, it was found that the bloating phenomenon depend on the contents of C, where the liquid phase occur or not during the sintering process. To obtain a light-aggregate of porous body due to bloating, the rapid heating was better than the normal heating at sintering process.

  • This experiment was conducted to determine the agronomic characteristics for selection of the excellent barnyard millet and the herbicidal response for their weediness prevention in paddy rice. IT170609, IT195422 and EV2012 have produced more dry matter compared to other barnyard millets tested. In varietal characteristics by heading date, IT170609 showed medium maturing type and IT195422 and EV201 had late maturing type. The germination rate of IT170609, IT195422 and EV2012 on temperature was higher than Echnochloa oryzicola of native species, and it was definitely distinctive at 20 and $25^{\circ}C$. In the herbicidal response for their weediness prevention in paddy rice, imazosulfuron+benzobicyclone+penoxsulam SC showed control effect the extend of over 90% to IT170609, IT195422 and EV2012. Cyhalofop-butyl EC, penoxsulam SC and metamifop EC were very effective by 6~7 leaf stage of barnyard millets tested.

  • Calcium phosphates recognized as important bio-materials have been successfully synthesized by simple precipitation using waste abalone shells, which are rich mineral sources of calcium. Calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) originated from abalone shells was used as calcium source (precursor) for the preparation. Synthesis of calcium phosphates was performed by reacting calcium hydroxide with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) in aqueous solution. The initial precursor Ca/P ratios were adjusted to 1.50, 1.59 and 1.67, and the effect of the composition and the heat treatment on the synthesized powders and sintered bodies was investigated. The phases of the sintered ceramics prepared at 1150℃ were hydroxyapatite (HAp), β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP), and biphasic phosphate (HAp with β-TCP)), which were determined by the initial precursor Ca/P ratios. The results demonstrate the possibility for the synthesis of high value-added calcium phosphates from economical starting materials with low cost and high availability.

Estrus Synchronization and Artificial Insemination in Dairy Goats (유산양에서 발정동기화 유도와 인공수정 효율)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the response of CIDR-S on estrus synchronization of dairy goats and the effect of artificial insemination on conception rate. Estrus synchronization of sexually matured Saanen goats was induced with insertion of CIDR-S into vagina for 15 days and injection of 500 IU PMSG before removal of CIDR-S. Artificial insemination was conducted using liquid or frozen semen by intra-cervical insemination with synchronized does. Estrus synchronization was 90% using CIDR-S insertion for 15 days. Conception rate of inseminated does was 20% - 25%, while that of natural mated does was 100%. These results suggested that synchronization of dairy goats can be successfully induced and artificial insemination method has to be improved for the practical use in dairy goats.
