아버지의 양육참여도, 어머니의 양육스트레스 및 어머니의 스마트폰 중독, 유아의 스마트폰 중독 간의 구조적 관계 (On the Structural Relationship Between Fathers' Involvement in Parenting, Mother's Parenting Stress and Smartphone Addiction, and Children's Smartphone Addiction)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the structural relationship between fathers' involvement in parenting, mother's parenting stress and smartphone addiction, and children's smartphone addiction. Methods: The subjects of this study were 327 children aged between 3 and 5 who were attending nurseries and kindergartens in Gyeonggido, Gangwondo, and Busan, South Korea, and their mothers, fathers, and teachers. The data collected from the subjects were analyzed based on correlation analysis and structural equation modeling. Results: First, the fathers' involvement in parenting had a direct effect on their children's smartphone addiction, and no direct effect on the mother's parenting stress and smartphone addiction. Second, the mother's parenting stress had a direct effect on the mother's smartphone addiction and direct and indirect effects on their children's smartphone addiction. Third, the mother's smartphone addiction had a direct effect on their children's smartphone addiction. Conclusion/Implications: The findings in this study suggest the fathers' involvement in parenting and the mother's parenting stress and smartphone addiction have effects on their children's smartphone addiction. Based on these results, the study proposed ways to prevent children's addiction to smartphones and provided suggestions for further research.

유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 Big5성격유형에 따른 양육참여 및 양육스트레스 (Parental Participation and Parenting Stress According to the Big Five Personality Types of Fathers With Young Children)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in parental involvement and parenting stress according to the father's personality type. Methods: The subjects of this study were 302 fathers with children aged three to five living in Seoul, and a survey was conducted on their Big Five personality types, parental involvement, and parenting stress.The collected data were analyzed using K-means cluster analysis and covariance analysis. Results: In this study, fathers' personality types were classified into four types: 'sincerity, friendship, openness'(21.5%), 'neuroticism'(27.8%), 'sincerity'(29.4%), and 'low sincerity'(21.1%). These are the exact same Fathers in the 'sincere, friendly, open' group showed higher parental involvement and lower parental stress, while fathers in the 'neurotic' group showed lower parenting involvement and higher parenting stress. Conclusion/Implications: There was a difference in parental involvement and parenting stress according to the father's personality type.Based on these results, it is expected that the understanding of the father's personality will be come clearer and the foundation for constructing a program related to parenting which considers personality types will be established.

한국과 일본 아버지의 성역할태도와 양육참여행동과의 비교연구 (A Cross-Cultural Study of Father's gender role attitudes and Father's Involvement Behaviors in Korea an Japan)

  • This study in investigated differences between father's involvement Behavior perceived by their children which consisted of both qualitative and quantitative behavior and Father's gender role attitude in korea and Japan. The research sample consists of 240, 4-5th grade Korean children and their fathers and 215, 5-6th grade Japanese children and their fathers in Seoul and Tokyo respectively,. Results showed that (1) Korean fathers exhibited more affectionate child rearing behavior than Japanese fathers. On the other han Japanese father exhibited more father's involvement behavior than Korean fathers (2) Korean fathers tended to show more traditional gender role attitude than Japanese fathers do. (3) In the both countries father's affectionate child rearing behavior are greatly affected by non-traditional gender role attitude whereas father's involvement are affected by length of time the that fathers devot to child care.

  • The present study examined how demographic, paternal, and children's variables were associated with role satisfaction of Korean fathers with young children. Subjects were 236 fathers of 3-5 year old children living in Jeju island in Korea. Data were collected using questionnaires. Among demographic variables, father's income is an only variable that effects on role satisfaction. Role satisfaction is positively associated with child care, marital, job satisfaction, and child-rearing participation in terms of psychological variables. According to multiple regression, role satisfaction was positively predicted by income, gender, and adaptability of children. Moreover, day care, marital, job satisfaction and child-rearing participation were significant predictors of role satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of father's participation on child-rearing in relation to parents' sex-role streotypes and conjugal power structure and backg-round factors(children's sex paternal aged and educational level. maternal employment status and family's socio-economic status) The subjects of the study 368 couples who have preschoolers. The main study was conducted from sep. 17 to Oct. 2. 1992 using a set of questionaires which has been revised after a pilot study of 38 couples Statistical method for data analysis were frequencies percentiles means ANOVA Duncan's multiple range test F-Test and Cronbach's a. The results indicated 1) That There were significant differences in the degree of father's participation on child-rearing in term of children's sex parternal age the parents' sex-role streotypes the type of conjugal power structure. 2) that the variables which have significant effects on the degree of father's participation of child-rearing were conjugal power structure mother's sex-role types and father's age.

아버지의 양육 참여도와 유아의 사회·정서적 능력 (The Relationship between the Child Rearing Involvement of Fathers and Children's Social-Emotional Competence)

  • This study investigated the relationships between the child-rearing involvement of fathers and their children's social-emotional competence. The subjects were 257 kindergarten children and their fathers. Data on the children's social and emotional competence were provided by their mothers, kindergarten teachers and five trained observers. The observers tested the social-emotional problem solving ability of the children. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe post test, and Pearson's correlations. Results showed child rearing involvement differences between fathers based on (1) age and educational level of fathers, and (2) sex of child. Father's child-rearing involvement and child's social-emotional competence were correlated, especially in children whose fathers participated positively in child-rearing and had effective cognitive strategies for solving social and emotional problems.

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate (1) the father's child-rearing behavior perceived by children in relation to children's sex, family type and mother's job, (2) children's prosocial moral judgement as related to children's sex, family type, and mother's job, and (3) the effect of father's child-rearing behavior on children's prosocial moral judgement. The subjects were 432 5th-6th grade elementary school children in Pusan, For the measurement of father's child-rearing behavior, this researcher developed a father's child-rearing behavior questionnaire based on Choi's (1991) questionnaire, For the children's prosocial moral judgement. the 4 prosocial moral dilemma by Eisenberg-Berg was used, The major findings were as follows, No significant results were found in relation to father's child-rearing behavior and child's sex, family type, and mother's work status, Children's prosocial behavior was not related to any of the above variables, Significant relationships were found between father's child-rearing behavior and children's prosocial moral judgement.

아동의 스트레스에 대한 어머니, 아버지의 양육행동 및 양육참여도 영향분석 (The Effect of Child Rearing Behavior and Child Rearing Involvement on Children's Stress)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of child rearing behavior and child rearing involvement on elementary school children's stress. The subjects were 201 children selected from 2 elementary schools and their parents. Data was collected using the children's stress index, the child rearing behavior questionnaire, and the child rearing involvement questionnaire, and was statistically analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA (Duncan test), correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The study showed that there were some significant differences in children's stress according to the child's gender, grade, and scholastic achievement. Correlation analysis indicated that the child's stress and the mother's child rearing behavior had significant correlation, especially the warmth acceptance behavior of the mother indicated negative high correlation. Also, the child's stress and father's child rearing behavior had significant correlation, especially the rejection restriction behavior of the father indicated positive high correlation. Correlation analysis indicated that the child's stress and the mother's child rearing involvement had significant correlation, especially the family activities involvement of the mother indicated negative high correlation. As well, the child's stress and the father's child rearing involvement had significant correlation, especially the day to day guidance involvement of the father indicated negative high correlation. It was also found that rejection restriction behavior of the father, permissiveness non-intervention behavior of the father, day to day guidance involvement of the father, family activities involvement of the father, and warmth acceptance behavior of the mother were all significant predictors of the elementary school child's stress.

초등학교 아동이 지각한 아버지의 양육행동 및 양육참여도가 자아존중감과 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Father's Child Rearing Behavior and Child Rearing Involvement Perceived by Children on Children's Self-Esteem and School Adjustment)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of father's child rearing behavior and child rearing involvement perceived by their children to children's self-esteem and school adjustment. The subjects were 300 elementary school children selected from two elementary schools in Incheon area. The instruments included the father's child rearing behavior index, father's child rearing involvement index, children's self-esteem inventory, and children's school adjustment inventory. The statistics used from this data were correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. This study showed that father's child rearing behaviors of autonomy, achievement, concern and affection behavior were positively correlated to children's general, social, family and school self-esteem. Correlation analysis also indicated that a father's child rearing involvement, that is family activities, day to day guidance, household affairs and home education involvement were positively correlated to children's general, social and family self-esteem, and school self-esteem was positively correlated to family activities and day to day guidance involvement. Father's child rearing behaviors also indicated positive correlations with children's teachers, friends, studies and rule adjustments. A father's child rearing involvement also indicated positive correlations with all of the schools adjustment variables. The relationships between children's self-esteem and school adjustment indicated positive high correlations in all sub-variables. It was also found that autonomy behavior, family activities involvement, affection behavior and concern behavior were significant predictors of children's self-esteem. Also, day to day guidance involvement and family activities involvement were significant predictors of children's school adjustment, but in addition to children's self-esteem variables, children's social, school, general, and family self-esteem were significant predictors of children's school adjustment.

어머니의 취업유무에 따른 양육스트레스와 결혼만족도의 관계: 부부간 호감과 존중과 아버지 양육참여의 조절효과 (Moderating Effects of Marital Fondness & Admiration and Father's Child Rearing Involvement on the Association between Parenting Stress and Marital Satisfaction: Comparison of Unemployed and Employed Mothers)

  • This study investigated the moderating effects of marital fondness and admiration as well as the father's involvement in child rearing on the association between parenting stress and marital satisfaction for a comparison of unemployed and employed mothers. The subjects were 159 unemployed mothers and 103 employed mothers with children under 3 years of age. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, unemployed mothers who had a lower level of marital fondness and admiration were dissatisfied with their marriage when they had higher parenting stress. Marital fondness and admiration are necessary for unemployed mothers in their transition period to parents. Especially, it is important for fathers to understand challenging conditions and encourage and support the spouse. However, there was no moderating effect of the father's involvement in child rearing in the association between parenting stress and marital satisfaction. Second, employed mothers who had a lower level of father's involvement in child rearing were dissatisfied with their marriage when they had higher parenting stress. The father's involvement in child rearing is necessary for employed mothers in their transition period to parents. Furthermore, it is important to implement policies at the national level to support childcare hours for balanced work and life. However, there was no moderating effect of marital fondness and admiration for the association between parenting stress and marital satisfaction.
