  • This study analyzes diverse research studies on psychomotricity as convergence of psychological and physical exercises and aims to identify challenges and provide solutions for more extensive future research. The study collected 50 papers published in Korea from 2013 to March 2017 through paper search systems and analyzed the distribution of the works by types and research subjects, and types of research design, types of dependent variables and the number of interventions involved. By research design, it was found that most number of papers were based on single-subject research, followed by quantitative research. Motor development appeared the most as a dependent variable, followed by sociality and emotional behavior. Most number of studies involved 21-30 times of interventions. The changes in the research results were analyzed in the order of sociality, motor development, and behavior change. Future psychomotricity studies need to expand study subjects and diversify research methods and variables, with active follow-up studies contributing to social service by providing comprehensive solutions.

  • Objective : The aims of this study are to investigate the correlation between spiritual well-being and the pattern of stress coping strategies, as well as understand how they impact depression and psychological well-being. Methods : We analyzed 320 undergraduate students in a capital area (135 males, 170 females; 15 students who answered irrelevantly were excluded). Spiritual well-being (religious and existential), stress coping strategies (active and passive), psychological well-being and, depression were rated using the Spiritual Well-Being scale, Ways of Coping checklist, Psychological Well-Being measurement, and Depression Scale (CES-D), respectively. For the analysis, we utilized Pearson correlation analysis and simple regression analysis. Results : The analysis revealed a positive correlation between Spiritual well-being and active coping strategies, a negative correlation between existential well-being and depression, and a positive correlation between religious well-being and psychological well-being. By regression analysis, it showed spiritual-well being affected depression negatively. Existential well-being, but not religious well-being, affected depression negatively. Furthermore, the impact of existential well-being on depression remained a strong predictor in males better than females. Existential well-being affected psychological well-being positively through active coping strategies. Conclusion : In this study, we verified a correlation between existential well-Being and active coping strategies which affected depression and psychological well-being in undergraduate students.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the priming effects of disaster-related news. Specifically, this study aimed to examine the priming effects about trauma words and neutral words according to the geographical and psychological distance from the disaster. The participants in this study were 75 college students who had not experienced the Daegu subway fire accident, and whom were not ruled out after completing the screening measure completing the screening measure the completion of questionnaires for screening. All participants conducted a lexical decision task after watching a news video about the Daegu subway fire accident. The design was a 2 (Geographical distance: close vs. distant) × 2 (Psychological distance: close vs. distant) × 2 (Priming type: trauma priming vs. neutral priming) mixed-design. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, the group which was geographically closer to the disaster tended to revealed a largerbigger priming effect than the distant group-a trend toward significance. Second, within the psychologically closer to the disaster, group, for those who were geographically closer too, the priming effect was larger for those who were geographically closer geographically closer than for the geographically distant group. Third, the geographically closer group had a largerbigger neutral priming effect than the distant group. Fourth, the psychologically distant group had a largerbigger neutral priming effect than the close group. To sum up, this study identified that disaster news coverage may have an implicit effect on people, and this influence can change according to the geographical and psychological distance. Finally, this study discussed the limitations of the study and recommendations for further research.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate a moderating effect of social work practitioners' support between psychological crisis and social participation of divorced retired men. For this, psychological crisis, social participation, and social work practitioners' support were completed by 248 divorced retired men registered during the last five years in Hope Job Center for the middle aged group in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Correlation analysis was performed to determine the general trend of the measured variables based on the collected data, simple regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between variables, and hierarchical regression analysis was performed to examine the moderating effect. The results of this study are as follows. First, psychological crisis was found to have a negative correlation with social participation and social work practitioners' support. Second, social worker practitioners' support between psychological crisis and social participation showed a significant moderating effect. Based on these findings, this study is significant in terms of providing needs for interventions of social support through methods such as programs for psychological support and education about social participation for divorced retired men.

  • This paper tried to determine whether emotional dysregulation would function as a mediating variable when social exclusion affects SNS addiction tendencies. For this purpose, a survey was conducted targeting students enrolled in a university located in the central region. Responses from 298 people were analyzed. The analysis results show that social exclusion completely mediates emotional dysregulation and influences SNS addiction tendencies. Meanwhile, we set the two sub-dimensions of social exclusion as independent variables to determine whether it influences SNS addiction tendency through emotion regulation. It was found that the experience of being ignored influenced the tendency to addict to SNS by partially mediating the experience of emotion regulation, while the experience of rejection was found to affect the tendency to addict to SNS by fully mediating the experience of emotion regulation. These analysis results show that when establishing social exclusion as an influential factor in SNS addiction tendency, it is meaningful not only to set it as an overall factor but also to approach it by dividing it into individual factors.

  • Objectives: This study investigated the psychological characteristics of patients with functional dyspepsia. Methods: The subjects included ninety patients with functional dyspepsia and sixty four psychiatric out-patients. We administered Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory(MMPI) and Illness Behavior Questionnaire(IBQ). Results: There were no significant differences between the patients with functional dyspepsia and the psychiatric out-patients by MMPI. Two groups both showed a higher distribution in hypochondriasis, depression, hysteria subscales than in any other subscales. The patients with functional dyspepsia showed lower scores in disease conviction and affective disturbance subscales in IBQ than the psychiatric out-patients. The distribution of scores of the other IBQ subscales were similar between the patients with functional dyspepsia and the psychiatric out-patients. The patients with functional dyspepsia were divided into three groups for the Multivariate cluster analysis: normal, similar to psychiatric out-patient, and severe neurotic. The severe neurotic group showed higher scores in hypochondriasis, depression, hysteria, psychathenia, and schizophrenia subscales in MMPI and showed significant different scores in affective disturbance, disease conviction, psychological and somatic concerns, affective disturbance, denial, and irritability subscales in IBQ. Conclusion: If patients with functional dyspepsia show severe neurotic behavior, such as those in, they would need appropriate psychiatric intervention.

  • The present study explored how 1) individuals' perception about attributes of exercise/fitness apps and 2) their motivation for exercise/fitness behaviors influence perceived usefulness and usage of the apps. A survey of 323 males and females in their 20's and 30's revealed that attributes of apps that satisfy their basic psychological needs are crucial in promoting perceived usefulness and usage of the apps. Participants were more likely to perceive exercise/fitness apps useful as they perceive them having more attributes related to autonomy and competence. The perception regarding relatedness attributes did not have the main effect on perceived usefulness but showed an interaction effect with relative autonomous motivation. This convergence study which examined health apps from the perspectives of psychology and public health provides practical implications to development and evaluation of health apps.

  • Recently, industrial values of big data as an important force of future society have been vastly paid attention. At the same time, more concerns about their private informations' disclosure online still echo around us, especially for them who have experiences of their personal information open online. This study aims to examine the questions; how people think about their personal information revealed online?; how much they have 'psychological reactance'?; what attitudes they have toward a certain governmental regulations on this? The findings of this study indicate that we should have more attentions to protect 'privacy' in the age of big-data and still need to make a lot of efforts to prepare a feasible regulation guide on this issue.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify relative effects of emotion and empathy on altruistic behavior. A survey including psychological well-being, depression, empathic concern, and perspective taking was conducted on 329 undergraduates. Results revealed that altruism was positively correlated with psychological well-being, empathy concern, and perspective taking but negatively correlated with depression. Test for relative effects of positive and negative emotional states on altruism revealed that psychological well-being, but not depression, significantly predicted altruism. Test for relative effects of emotional and cognitive empathy factors on altruism showed that empathic concern, but not perspective taking, significantly predicted altruism. Test for relative effects of all four factors on altruism revealed that the empathic concern was the strongest factor affecting altruism, followed by psychological well-being, while the remaining two factors did not have an effect on altruism. Implications and limitations of this study are also discussed in this study.
