Participants consisted of 199 nursing students who were in the third and fourth years who had experienced clinical practice at two nursing universities located in Gyeongnam, and agreed to the survey. Data were collected using questionnaires from June 15 to August 29, 2020. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 statistics program with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and multiple regression. The mean score for subjective happiness was 4.87 (out of 7), the mean for self-esteem was 3.84 (out of 5), and clinical practice stress was 2.77 (out of 5). The significant predictors of the clinical practice stress were gender, major satisfaction and self-esteem, and the explanatory power of variance was 14.1%. Therefore, we need differentiated clinical practice stress reduction programs according to gender and various strategies that can enhance major satisfaction in order to reduce the clinical practice stress of nursing students.

Results revealed that higher levels of maladaptive perfectionism were associated with increased clinical practice stress. Decreased self-leadership, satisfaction with nursing major, number of clinical practice in other regions, and social support was also associated with increased clinical practice stress. Findings indicate that specific characteristics such as maladaptive perfectionism and decrease of social support can lead to increase clinical practice stress. In this paper, we propose that active considerations for these psychological characteristics are important when reducing clinical practice stress for nursing students.

The control groups (n=70, from July to October, 2012) participated in traditional practice method and the experimental groups (n=70, from December, 2012, to February, 2013) participated by a preceptor who attended a systematic preceptor education program. The data analyzed included the numbers, percentages, mean, standard deviation, and t-test using SPSS 19.0/WIN. In the experimental group, the clinical competency and practice satisfaction showed significantly higher scores, and the stress of clinical practice showed significantly lower scores than control group. Consequently, the preceptorship was effective in clinical maternity nursing education for student nurses and it is necessary to adapt this many areas in the clinical nursing education field for nursing students.

Differences in nursing professionalism were analyzed by t-test and one-way ANOVA. The correlation between clinical practice stress, clinical practice satisfaction, and nursing professionalism was analyzed using Pearson Correlation Coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression was used to analyze factors affecting the nursing profession. As a result of the study, major satisfaction (β=.256, p=.001) was the strongest influencing variable, and clinical practice satisfaction (β=.237, p=.004) and clinical practice stress (β=.-.143, p= .068) were identified as factors affecting nursing professionalism. The explanatory power of these total variables was 21.8% (F=.14..44, p=.000). The above research results suggest that it is necessary to develop and apply educational strategies and specific programs to improve nursing professionalism.

  • This study was done to identify the relationships between nursing practice stress and stress coping for the nursing students in Korea. Data were collected at 2 universities located in C city in Korea. Participants were 160 nursing students. Data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Nursing practice stress was $2.72{\pm}6.2$. Stress coping was $2.60{\pm}0.37$. Stress was correlated with wishful thinking coping strategy when doing orientation (r=0.32, p<0.01), conference(r=0.52, p<0.01), homework(r=0.29, p<0.01). Stress for practice exam was correlated with problem focused coping strategy(r=0.31, p<0.05). Stress was correlated with positive view coping strategy when face nurse(r=0.31, p<0.01) or interpersonal relations(r=0.35, p<0.01). Stress related to practice environment and class was correlated with indifference (r=0.26, p<0.01) and tension relieve strategy (r=0.28, p<0.01). There's no stress when they meet or serve direct care to patients. Students managed the stress by showing active coping pattern. It is considered that the experience gave students an excellent capacity to cope with stress. Since the degree of stress and coping pattern can differ from adaptability of situation, a research of change in clinical training stress by seasonal clinical training and coping patter is proposed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting employment stress among Emergency Department students and reduce stress of employment. A questionnaire survey was administered to 276 students who experienced clinical practice among 4 emergency college students in Jeollabuk-do and Jeollanam-do at 4-year and 3-year colleges from September 10 to 15, 2017. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 18.0 program and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. In the results, there were significantly negative correlations between clinical training stress and major satisfaction (r=-0.192, p=0.001), significantly positive correlations between career stress and clinical training stress (r=0.222, p<0.001), and significantly negative correlations between career stress and major satisfaction (r=-0.245, p<0.001). In the multi-regression analysis, the following was discovered: higher clinical training stress (${\beta}=0.157$, p=0.005), lower major satisfaction (${\beta}=-0.211$, p<0.001), and higher career stress. Junior students (${\beta}=0.237$, p<0.001) and senior students (${\beta}=0.288$, p<0.001) had the highest career stress. Subjects with medium-level financial status had high career stress (${\beta}=0.173$, p=0.012). Therefore, this study suggests that colleges should reduce clinical training stress among emergency medical technology students, and more job support centers should be opened and job management programs developed.
