  • The purpose of this research is to analyze cognitive demands, answer types, and storytelling types on the basis of mathematical tasks in five different mathematics textbooks based on 2009 revised curriculum in order to suggest directions for the development and use of storytelling mathematics textbooks in school. Results show that first, PNC (Procedures without Connections) task was the largest category in cognitive demands of all mathematical tasks, Low-Level task was larger than others in cognitive demands of mathematical content tasks, and High-Level task was larger than others in cognitive demands of mathematical activity tasks. Second, a short-answer type was the largest category in answer types of all mathematical tasks, the majority of mathematical content tasks were a short-answer type, and the majority of mathematical activity tasks were both short-answer and explanation-answer types. Finally, storytelling connected to real-life was the largest category in storytelling types, and the number of mathematical activity tasks was less than that of mathematical content tasks. However, in the tasks reflected on storytelling, the percentage of mathematical activity tasks was higher than that of mathematical content tasks. Based on the results, while developing storytelling mathematics textbooks and using storytelling textbooks in school, it suggests to consider the need for balance and diversity in cognitive demands, answer types, and storytelling types according to mathematical tasks.

  • Storytelling is a communication technique to express and convey the story using various media, where the audience accepts the story, reinterprets the topic and interacts with the storyteller. It was assumed that the user's significance and awareness about the storytelling technique applied to historical theme parks would have an impact on the satisfaction of using the theme park and intention to revisit. In this study, it was purposed to derive the structural factors of spatial storytelling in historical theme parks, and to understand the impact of user's awareness and constituent factors on user responses. Based on previous researches, the structural factors of spatial storytelling in historical theme parks were derived related to theme, experientiality, unusualness, educationalness, unity, expressiveness, interactivity, and interest, and for which the users' awareness was surveyed. The survey was conducted targeting the users of Samguk Yusa Theme Park located in Gunwi-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, where the collected data was analyzed using EXCEL2020 and SPSS 21.0 statistical programs, and the results are as follows: First, the spatial storytelling technique applied as a conveying method of the theme of Samguk Yusa Theme Park affects users' satisfaction and intention to revisit, and most respondents responded that the storytelling was significant. Second, it showed that the significance of unusualness and educationalness among the awareness of significance of the spatial storytelling constituent factors of Samguk Yusa Theme Park has a significant impact on user's satisfaction, and the significance of unusualness, interactivity, educationalness, and interest has a significant impact on intention to revisit. Third, it showed that the awareness of interest, theme, and unity has a significant impact on user's satisfaction depending on the user's awareness of spatial storytelling constituent factors of Samguk Yusa Theme Park, and the awareness of interactivity and experientiality has a significant impact on intention to revisit. This study is meaningful in quantitative analysis and interpretation of the influence of storytelling on user's response to historical theme parks by the exploratory analysis of characteristic factors and spatial storytelling constituent factors on historical theme parks and deriving the structural factors of spatial storytelling in historical theme parks.

  • The purpose of this paper is to enrich storytelling contents for culture and tourism industry and provide the implication for carrying out governmental policy by estimating economic value of storytelling using a Contingent Valuation Method. The empirical result shows that the economic value of storytelling development in culture and tourism industry is annually estimated 16,000 won per person, resulting from logit model and WTP mean method. The willingness-to-pay, degree of support and perception of the policy and culture contents expenditure have meaningful effects on probability of supporting and participating in execution of the policy. The findings imply that the economic value of storytelling development highly increases as the interest and expenditure of culture contents increase. Futhermore, informing storytelling related policy and business to the people will increase economic value of fostering storytelling-based culture and tourism.

  • Short video applications (e.g., TikTok, YouTube shorts) are growing quickly in terms of active users and usage time. Of course, advertising industry is utilizing the app as AD channel. The current study, however, argues that the effectiveness of ADs in short video apps are not articulated well and that precise research for measuring the effect is required. In this context, this study measured the effects of storytelling ad types(reality, parody, creative) and message sensation value(high vs. low level) on story transportation. The notable finding is that when creative storytelling ad type which requires more cognitive resources than other two types meets high level of message sensation value, ad viewers could reach cognitive overload state which induced low effectiveness of ad. As its result, the effectiveness of AD reduced. More specific theoretical discussion and suggestions for advertising producers are described.

  • This study began with the problem of establishing the identity of the region through tourism storytelling and the need for economic and cultural recovery. Thus, we analyze the attributes of tourist-aware tourism storytelling, authenticity through experience in tourist attractions, and structural and causal relationships between behaviors. Studies have shown that the attributes of tourism storytelling's sensibility, educationality, ease of understanding, interest and theme have a significant impact on tourists' authenticity experiences. And it was confirmed that the authenticity experience of tourists has a positive impact on tourists' intentions of visiting and oral intentions. This study is of high academic significance in that it applied the attributes of storytelling, which had been studied in the existing linguistics and humanities, to Namwon, a representative cultural tourist destination in Korea. In addition, in order for Namwon to grow into a global cultural tourist destination, it is necessary to develop tourism storytelling using unique storytelling attributes and local resources, and furthermore, it is meaningful to suggest that various contents and services should be developed.

  • Recently, 3S Mathematics Education (Storytelling mathematics education, SMART mathematics education, and STEAM mathematics education) is emphasized. Based on recently published report on Storytelling mathematics textbook, we propose executable expression based SMART storytelling mathematics related to the elementary mathematic curriculum on 3D building blocks. We designed letters and expressions to represent three dimensional shape of 3D building blocks, and we compare its characteristics with that of LEGO blocks. We assert that text-based executable expressions not only construct what students want to make but also teachers can read students thinking process and can support educational help based on students needs. We also present linear function, quadratic function, and function variable concepts using executable expressions based on 3D building block as an example of SMART storytelling mathematics. This research was supported by the collaborated creativity mentoring project between Siheung City and college of education at Seoul National University. We hope designed executable expressions can be used for the development of SMART storytelling mathematics education.
