초고속 반도체 레이저와 광통신 응용

  • 본 기술해설에서는 초고속 반도체 레이저의 특성을 알아보고 광통신에의 응용을 검토하였다. 먼저 반도체 레이저의 동작 원리를 설명하였고, 초고속 반도체 레이저의 소신호 및 대신호 변조특성에 대해서 기술하였다. 또한, 반도체 레이저를 이용하여 극초단 펄스를 생성하는 방법으로 이득/Q 스위칭법, 외부변조기와 집적화된 반도체 레이저를 이용하는 방법, 모드 록킹법에 대해서 검토하고 펄스 압축법에 관해서도 기술하였다. 초고속 반도체 레이저의 응용으로는 초고속 광통신, 솔리톤 광통신, 전광 시분할 다중/역다중에 관해서 기술하였다.

A Study on High Efficiency Inverter Ballast Using Microprocessor (마이크로프로세서를 사용한 고효율 인버터 안정기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the high efficiency inverter ballast circuit using very cheap microprocessor, which has been developed by the author. A variety of soft-switching techniques have been proposed to reduce the switching losses and EMI publems that accur with higher switching frequencies in switched inverter ballast 1be inverter ballast circuit, which employs a temperature sensing circuits has been also proposed to improve starting performance of the fluorescent lamps. That is, the inverter ballast circuit, which employs a soft-starting circuits and soft-switching techniques to implement the power factoc correcticn and to mitigate of power-loss and iocrease a life time of the fluorescent lamps, has become an attractive performance forballasting the fluorescent lamps. In this paper, the operation and the control of the inverter ballast are described in detail and experimental results are presented. As the experimental results, when enviroment temperatture is at TEX>$-40^{\circ}C$, the inverter ballast circuit has low THD(4.8%) of the input current and large power factor(98%) of the lamp current. The proposed improved ballast circuit awears to be a good performance for ballasting fluorescent lamps. lamps.

Performance of OFDM using Beam-switching and Space-Time coding in Wireless Personal Area Network (무선 개인 영역망 환경에서 빔 스위칭과 시공간부호를 적용한 OFDM 전송방식의 성능)

  • In this paper, we consider the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based transmission incoorperating with beam-switching and space-time coding. Specifically, we consider three configurations; (1) the beamforming technique, (2) the spatial diversity technique and (3) their combination and evaluate the performance in wireless personal area network (WPAN) environment. For the beam-forming technique, we consider the beam-switching which is performed at RF front-end with a pre-defined set of beams and for the space-time coding, we consider the Alamauti scheme with antenna selection. For the combined scheme, we divide the antennas used into two group to generate two independent beams and apply the two-antenna Alamauti scheme over the two beams. For these three configurations, performance is evaluated in terms of the SNR gain.

  • A new active lossless snubber for half-bridge dual converter(that is called'dual converter') is proposed in this paper It features soft switching(ZVS) as well as turn-off snubbing in both main and auxiliary switches. Therefore, it helps the dual converter to operate at the higher frequency with a higher efficiency and smaller-sized reactive components. Moreover, since it uses parasitic components, such as leakage inductances and switch output capacitances etc, to achieve the ZVS of power switches, it has simpler structure and lower cost of production. The operational principle, theoretical analysis, and design consideration are presented. To confirm the operation, features, and validity of the proposed circuit, experimental results from a 200w, 24V/DC-200V/DC proto-type are presented.

A SRM driving with voltage and switching angle for maximum torque/efficiency and minimum torque ripple (최대 토크/효율 및 최소 토크맥동을 위한 스위칭각/전압에 의한 SRM 운전)

  • This paper presents the switching angle and voltage to maximize torque/efficiency and minimize torque ripple in the 4-phase 6-poles Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM). SRM drive has high saturation and nonlinear characteristics of inductance. So we cannot hard to find optimal condition by using analytic method. Therefore it is hard to find the operating the switching angle and voltage through the approximated analysis and computer simulation by using SIMULINK according to the speed and torque required by load. From the results, we can say that the optimum average voltage is determined by the load only and the speed is determined by the optimum turn-on/off angle only. And the maximum efficiency and minimum torque ripple depend on switching angle, not on voltage. And then one-chip microcontroller controls the switching angle and voltage of an asymmetrical inverter in the SRM driver. This drive method, which is expect that the driving methods, which are maximizing torque/efficiency and minimizing torque ripple, will be suitable for the electric vehicle, the industrial application and household appliances.

  • This paper presents a 3-level, 2-level SVPWM technique with 100 kHz switching using Verilog HDL, one of the languages of FPGA. In the case of IGBT devices mainly used in inverters, they have a switching frequency around 20kHz. Recent research and development of next-generation power semiconductor devices such as GAN has enabled switching of more than 100kHz, which can miniaturize power converters, and apply various new algorithms due to the injection of harmonics. In the existing system using the IGBT, the control using the DSP is common, but the controller configuration for 100 kHz switching requires the use of FPGA. Therefore, this paper explains the theory and implementation of SVPWM applied to two-level and three-level inverters using FPGAs and verifies the performance through the output waveform. In addition, this paper implements 3-level SVPWM by using only one carrier instead of using two carriers in the conventional method.

Image Restoration Algorithm using Weighted Switching Filter for Remove Random-Valued Impulse Noise (랜덤 임펄스 잡음을 제거하기 위한 가중치 스위칭 필터를 이용한 영상 복원 알고리즘)

  • In the modern society, the use of digital equipment is increasing along with the 4th industrial revolution, and the importance of image and signal processing is increasing. At the same time, research on noise reduction is being actively conducted. In this paper, we propose a switching filter algorithm for random-valued impulse noise cancellation. The proposed algorithm obtains the threshold value by determining the noise level present in the image, and threshold value is compared with the difference between the input pixel value and the reference value, and is used in the weight switching process of the filter. The final output of the filter is estimated by applying a pixel weight and a modified weight median filter according to the switching, and obtains a final output by comparing the estimated value with the input pixel value. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we compared it with the existing methods using simulation and PSNR.

  • 영구자석형 동기전동기를 구동하는 인버터에서는 기본적으로 정현파 운전 방식을 사용하지만 최근에는 구형파 운전 방식도 종종 사용되고 있다. 정현파 운전 방식은 구형파 운전 방식에 비해 토크 리플이 작고 기동 성능이 우수하며, 약자속 제어를 이용하여 정격 속도 이상의 고속 운전이 가능하다. 이에 비해 구형파 운전 방식은 제어 알고리즘이 간단하고 스위칭 손실이 적은 장점이 있지만, 토크 리플이 크고 정격 속도 이하의 영역에서만 운전이 가능하다는 단점이 있다. 최근에 인버터의 운전 중에 각각의 장점이 있는 이들 2가지 운전 방식을 서로 전환하는 방법으로 가전제품의 압축기와 같은 연속 부하에 적용하기 위한 연구가 진행되었다. 저속 구간에서는 스위칭 손실을 줄이기 위하여 구형파 운전 방식을 주로 사용하고, 고속 구간에서는 안정적인 제어 성능을 위하여 정현파 운전 방식을 사용한다. 또한, 이 2가지 운전 방식의 전환 구간에서의 발생되는 과도 상태를 짧게 줄이기 위하여 속도 및 전류 제어기의 제어 변수에 대한 초기화 방법이 제시되었다. 본 논문에서는 구형파 운전 구간의 속도 제어기에 비례 적분 전류 제어기를 추가하여 전류 리플을 감소시키고, 전환 구간에서의 속도 및 전류 제어기의 제어 변수에 대한 초기화 방법을 제시하였다.

A Study on The PWM Control of Resonant Inverters (공진형 인버터의 PWM 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In many applications of power electronics, high frequency resonant inverters are used, and the PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation), PFM(Pulse Frequency Modulation) or PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) techniques are used to control the output power of resonant inverters. And the resonant inverters have to control the output frequency for the reliable operation under the variable load conditions. In this paper, a new switching scheme is proposed as a PWM control of resonant inverters. With the proposed method, it can be obtained that optimum resonant frequency and unity output displacement factor under the variable resonant frequency adaptively. The detail algorithm or the proposed PWM switching scheme and its output characteristics are discussed. And the veridity of the proposed method is confirmed with the experimental results.

Analysis of AIGaAs/GaAs Depleted Optical Thyristor using bottom mirror (하부 거울층을 이용한 AIGaAs/GaAs 완전 공핍 광 싸이리스터 특성 분석)

  • We fabricate and analyze fully depleted optical thyristors (DOTs) using quarter wavelength reflector stacks (QWRS). QWRS are employed as bottom mirrors to enhance the emission efficiency as well as the optical sensitivity. In order to analyze their switching characteristics, S-shape nonlinear current-voltage curves are simulated and the reverse full-depletion voltages (Vneg's) of DOTs are obtained as function of semiconductor parameters by using a finite difference method (FDM). The fabricated DOTs show sufficient nonlinear s-shape I-V characteristics and switching voltage changes of these devices with and without bottom mirrors show 1.82 V and 1.52 V, respectively. Compared to a conventional DOT, this device with the bottom mirrors shows about 20% and 46% enhancement in switching voltage change and spontaneous emission efficiency, respectively.
