One of the characteristics in math -abstract concept- makes the students find difficulties in understanding general ideas about math. This study is about how much do the modeling lessons using the technical instruments which is based on the realistic mathematical theory influence on understanding the mathematical concept. This study is based on one of the contents the first grade of middle school students study, the function, especially the meaning of it. Some brilliant students being the objects of this study, mathematically experimental modeling lesson was planned, conducted. Survey on the students' attitudes about math before and after the modeling classes and Questionnaire survey on the effectiveness about the modeling class were conducted and their attitudes were recorded also. This study tells that students show very meaningful changes before and after the modeling class and scientific knowledge seems to be very helpful for the students to understand the mathematical concept and solve the problems. When scientific research and development get together with mathematics, students will be more motivated and be able to form the right mathematical concept easily.
In this study, we hope to reveal teacher knowledge necessary to address student errors and difficulties about ratio and rate. The instruments and interview were administered to 3 in-service primary teachers with various education background and teaching experiments. The results of this study are as follows. Specialized content knowledge(SCK) consists of profound knowledge about ratio and rate beyond multiplicative comparison of two quantities and professional knowledge about the definitions of textbook. Knowledge of content and students(KCS) is the ability to recognize students' understanding the concept and the representation about ratio and rate. Knowledge of content and teaching(KCT) is made up of knowledge about various context and visual models for understanding ratio and rate.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of perfectionism on the self-concept and dance performance satisfaction of college students. The survey was conducted on 320 college students in dance majors at four-year colleges located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, and Gangwon-do. The conclusion was drawn. First, perfectionism has a significant effect on self-concept. Second, perfectionism has a significant influence on the satisfaction of dance performance. Third, there is a causal relationship between perfectionism, self-concept, and dance performance satisfaction. In conclusion, it is important to identify factors that can increase the satisfaction of dance performance by exploring various psychological factors in order to increase the satisfaction of dance performance of college students.

The purpose of this study is to develop the argumentation program to build scientific concepts on natural selection for science-gifted elementary students and to know how to implement this program. For this study, nine key concepts about natural selection such as the overproduction of offspring, limited resources, population stability, competition, variation, heredity of variation, differential survival, change of the population and speciation were selected through the literature study. The programs were developed by learning cycle instructional model. Argument writings and discourses have been collected, analyzed and compared before and after the program. Two questionnaires to compare pre and post concept change consist of multiple choice questionnaire and open-ended response question were developed and applied to 19 science-gifted elementary students. Sufficiency of the explanation and conceptual quality of the explanation were used to assess the quality of their arguments before and after the program. Discourse and visual models collected from the highest and lowest group about score improvement were compared. The scores of the gifted statistically improved significantly in multiple choice questionnaire. Students' alternative conceptions about natural selection at the beginning of the program decreased and changed scientifically after the program. Visual models drawn by the students supported the results as well. This study asserts that elementary science-gifted students are able to explain evolutionary perspectives about organism change and use the key concepts of natural selection. The study means that evolutionary perspective is possible to be reflected in elementary science curriculum for the gifted.

Pupils with learning impediments in elementary schools have difficulties in learning numerical calculations. Numerical concepts, the basis of numerical calculations, require repetitious exercises, and it has been widely reported that computer-mediated learning motivates the learners to concentrate on their learning for longer hours. The aim of the research is to develop and apply a Web-based courseware to experimental groups to improve learning numerical concepts of the learners with learning difficulties in elementary school and to discuss the effects of the results. The courseware is designed to improve the numerical concepts of the learners through many thought activities. The experiment shows effectiveness of the learning activities to improve learning numerical concepts for students with learning difficulties, categorized into two groups - an experimental group and a control group, and also it shows positive responses on improvement of their calculation ability.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the students' conceptions about the reaction rate changes during the chemical equilibrium shifts and also whether the questions about basic concepts of the reaction rate are helpful for the students' understanding of reaction rate changes during the chemical equilibrium shifts. The subjects were 100 students in the 12th grade. The questionnaires were composed of A, B, and A' set, which had to be answered sequentially. The A set consisted of questions asking the change of reaction rate when chemical equilibrium was shifted, the B set was to testify the basic concepts of the reaction rate, and the A' set was the same as the A set. The results showed that the students' understanding of the reverse reaction rate change was lower than that of the forward reaction rate change during the equilibrium shift. Also it was found that students' understanding of the reaction rate change caused by adding the reactant was fairly good while their understanding of the reaction rate change caused by temperature increment was very poor. Since the students marked very high scores in the B set questions, their poor understanding for the reaction rate changes during the equilibrium shifts was not seemed to be due to the lacks of the basic knowledge of reaction rate. Instead, it was due to the failure of applying the basic knowledge of reaction rate to the changes of reaction conditions. It was also found that the average scores of A' set were statistically higher than those of A set. It means the B set items were helpful for the students to solve the A' set items. These results evidenced the possibility of set questionnaires could help the students to connect the related concepts in solving the problems.

The goal of this research is to develop a method of identifying a topic of a given text by looking at relationship of keywords defined in an ontology hierarchy. The keywords which are extracted from important sentences of the given text are mapped onto their correspond concepts which exist in the hierarchy. After all the words are mapped, the correspond concepts will be generalized into one single concept. The single concept will most likely be the topic of text. Our research have an approach that promotes both satisfaction in term of robustness and accuracy using ontologies and word frequency. So, this attempts are done in what they call as a hybrid approach. We try to take the challenge by using knowledge-statistical base approach. Experimental results show that proposed method outperforms the existing method using knowledge-base only.

XML is becoming a de facto standard for the representation and exchange of data, and XML itself is well structured to store and manage data, but it is difficult to understand the document structure at a glance due to its diverse and complex expressions. Thus, it is not appropriate to use it as a tool of conceptual model. In this paper, we propose a method to transform XML schema document structure into conceptual model. To do this, we describe CMXML as a conceptual modeling tool and present transformation rules and data structures for transforming an XML schema structure into CMXML diagram. In the transformation procedure, the XML schema document is input and the CMXML diagram is generated by applying the transformation rules.
Understanding the concept of definite integral is based on understanding the concept of mensuration by parts. However, several previous studies pointed out the difficulty on teaching the concept of mensuration by parts. The paper provides some didactic strategies which help teaching the concept of mensuration by part. To teach the concept of definite integral, in the high school curriculum, the relation between definite integral and series is dealt with. However, the paper suggests that importing the concept of series is not indispensable to teach the concept of definite integral. It is proper that definite integral is taught as limit of particular sequence not series.
