The Development and Validation Study of the Work-Life Balance Organizational Culture Scale (일과 삶의 균형 조직문화 척도 개발 및 타당화 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to develop work-life balance supportive organizational culture scale(WLB supportive organizational culture) and to verify it's validity. We reviewed comprehensive studies about work-life balance and organizational culture as well as scales related to them. We theoretically extracted some important factors of WLB organizational culture from reviews and then made 38 preliminary questions. 773 married workers in their 30s to 50s were responded to a questionnaire consisted of 38 preliminary questions and 9 variables(work-life balance, quality of life, job satisfaction, turnover etc) for criterion related validity verification. As the results of factor analysis such as EFA and CFA, we could confirm five factors including WLB organizational management, WLB supportive supervisors, empathetic communication with coworkers, coworkers' material support to WLB and accessibility to WLB programs. Second, correlation analyses were performed to investigate the validation of this scale. In result, it was revealed that the WLB supportive organizational culture scale was highly correlated with other family supportive organizational culture measures as well as dependent variables such as work-life balance, quality of life, job satisfaction, turnover. We expect this study contribute to improve the quality of studies about work-life balance and organizational culture.

  • 이 연구는 민간경비업 종사자의 직무특성이 특성불안 및 과업수행에 미치는 영향에 대한 구조모형을 설정하고 현실 적합도가 높은 이론적 모형을 도출한 다음, 모형에 포함된 변수들간의 인과관계를 검증하고자 한다. 이 연구는 2011년 현재 서울소재 경비회사를 모집단으로 설정한 다음, 판단표집법을 활용하여 300명을 표집하였다. 설문지의 타당도 및 신뢰도는 확인적 요인분석과 신뢰도 분석을 통해 검증하였다. 통계처리는 AMOS 18.0과 SPSSWIN18.0 프로그램을 활용하여 공변량구조분석의 기법이 활용되었다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민간경비업 종사자의 직무특성은 특성불안에 정적 영향을 미친다. 둘째, 민간경비업 종사자의 직무특성은 과업수행에 정적 영향을 미친다. 셋째, 민간경비업 종사자의 특성불안은 과업수행에 정적 영향을 미친다.

  • Performance assessment has Problems about possibilities of assessment fault by appraisal, fairness, reliability, and validity of grading, ambiguity of grading standard, difficulty about objectivity security etc. This study proposes fuzzy Performance assessment system to solve problem of the conventional performance assessment. This Paper presented an objective and reliable performance assessment method through fuzzy reasoning, design fuzzy membership function and define fuzzy rule analyzing factor that influence in each sacred ground of performance assessment to account principle subject. Also, performance assessment item divides by formation estimation and subject estimation and designed membership function in proposed performance assessment method. Performance assessment result that is worked through fuzzy Performance assessment system can pare down burden about appraisal's fault and provide fair and reliable assessment result through grading that have correct standard and consistency to students.

  • The purpose of this study was to construct a rating scale of infant and toddler development for the use of teachers in their observations of children during daily activities. The scale consists of 201 items measuring motor, self-help, socio-communicative, socio-emotional, and cognitive development. Quality, reliability and validity were examined with the use of a nation-wide sample of 1,245 children from classes of 1- and 2-year-olds. Tests on validity and reliability were high in terms of content validity evaluated by early childhood professionals, concurrent validity with the Bayley Scale, internal consistency among raters, and test-retest reliability. Factor analysis showed that the developmental areas of infants and toddlers are not clearly differentiated but are interrelated with each other. The scale was standardized by providing nation-wide norms with raw scores, percentiles, and standardized scores.

Validity and Reliability of the Suicide Resilience Inventory-Korean Version for Korean University Students (대학생을 대상으로 한 한국어판 자살극복력 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도)

  • The aim of this study was to test the validity and reliability of the Suicide Resilience Inventory-Korean version. Data were collected from 266 university students in Jeonbuk, South Korea. The Suicide Resilience Inventory-Korean version Suicide Resilience Inventory-25 was developed, and the collected data were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that The Suicide Resilience Inventory-Korean version(SRI-K) had factor loadings of the 19 items on the three subscales from 0.442 to 0.767. The three subscales model was validated by confirmatory factor analysis (RMSEA<.08, $CFI{\geq}.9$). The internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha was reliable with a total scale of 0.943. These findings show that the SRI-K has satisfactory construct validity and reliability to measure the ability to effectively overcome and to flexibly cope with the suicide risk.

Validity of the Self-report Assessment Forecasting Elderly Driving Risk (SAFE-DR) Applicable to Community Health Convergence (지역사회 보건 융합에 활용 가능한 노인 운전자용 자가-보고식평가(SAFE-DR)의 타당도 연구)

  • This study was conducted to test the assessment validity and examine the cut-off scores for driving risk as a part of the Self-report Assessment Forecasting Elderly Driving Risk (SAFE-DR) development project. The 132 senior drivers were categorized as either risky of 58 or safe of 74 drivers through the Drivers 65 Plus. Based on this initial assessment, we analyzed the risk prediction cut-offs. Furthermore, we tested the construct, content, and predictive validity. The cut-off score for the prediction of driving risk was found to be 74.5 points. The positive predictive value was 88.6%, and the negative predictive value was 86.3% about the cut-off score, signifying an excellent level of discrimination. Convergent validity, nomological validity, and content validity were found to be appropriate. Therefore, this study confirms that SAFE-DR is an appropriate assessment that can be used to screen dangerous elderly drivers.

Reliability and Validity of the Korean Version of Broad Conceptualization of Beauty Scale (한글판 미의 광범위한 개념 척도(K-BCBS)의 신뢰도 및 타당도)

  • BCBS (Broad Conceptualization of Beauty Scale) is a measurement tool designed to evaluate the standards of an individual's inner beauty. In this study, reliability and feasibility were verified for 100 female college students using the final Korean version BCBS 9 questions that were formed through the adaptation process. As a result of checking the internal consistency to verify the reliability of Korean version BCBS, it showed high reliability with Cronbach's 𝜶 0.878, subjective beauty 0.874, physical beauty 0.808 and psychological beauty 0.880. As a result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to verify feasibility of Korean version BCBS, feasibility was secured by showing significant results in all items. Therefore, through this study, the Korean version BCBS was proved to be a useful measurement tool that comprehensively evaluates the concept of women's broad scale beauty, and using this as basic data, it is believed that it can be used for professional development and research on internalized beauty for female college students.

Development of Mathematics Test-preparation and Test-taking Strategies Scales for Elementary School Students (초등학교 수학 시험준비전략과 시험수행전략 검사 개발)

  • This study was to develop the mathematics test-preparation and the test-taking strategies scales for elementary school students. Elementary school students and teachers participated in developing factors and items of the mathematics test-preparation and test-taking strategies scales. The subjects were 857 students in 6th grade from 13 elementary schools in G-city. The variable-centered approach such as exploratory factor analyses, confirmatory factor analyses, and reliability analyses were used for validating the scales. The results of the study were as follows. First, the mathematics test-preparation and the test taking strategies scales for elementary school students consisted of three strategies: cognitive, metacognitive, and learning resources management strategies, respectively. Second, the mathematics test-preparation strategies scale for elementary school students comprised of three factors and 23 items, and the mathematics test-taking strategies scale three factors and 24 items. The scales could be used to assess elementary students' mathematics test-preparation and test-taking strategies and to further develop programs for enhancing strategies use.

The Development and Validation of Instrument for Measuring High School Students' STEM Career Motivation (고등학생들을 위한 이공계 진로동기 검사도구 개발 및 타당화)

  • The purpose of the present study is to develop and validate an instrument to assess STEM career motivation. We developed 32 items for 7 constructs (i.e. education experience, career value, academic self-efficacy, career self-efficacy, career interest, parents' support, and career motivation) on STEM career motivation based on Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT; Lent et al.,1994). 767 first year high school students participated in this study. The items were validated by Messick's framework (1995). In this study, we examined the validity of items in four aspects (i.e. content, substantive, structural and generalizability of validity). Methodologically, we used Rasch analysis, Exploratory factor analysis, confirmative factor analysis based on structural equation modelling. We confirmed that our instrument with 32 items as valid and reliable for measuring the STEM career motivation. In addition, we tested the STEM career motivation model based on SCCT. Our model explained the data well, suggesting that external factors (education experience and parents' support) and cognitive factors (perception of value, self-efficacy and interest) were significantly related to STEM career motivation.

Comparing Construct and Predictive Validities of the Measurement of Children's Approximate Number Acuity Depending on Numerosity Comparison Task Format (수량 비교 과제의 형식에 따른 아동의 수 민감도 측정치의 구성 타당도 및 예측 타당도 비교)

  • Approximate number sense(hereafter, ANS) is the ability to compare and operate upon numerosity information. The numerosity comparison task is used to measure ANS. However, there is considerable variance among previous reports of ANS acuity which may be related to different task formats used. Here, we aim to investigate whether the format of the numerosity comparison task influences measurements of ANS acuity. We compared two task formats; 1) an intermixed format presenting two intermixed arrays of black and white dots, and 2) a side-by-side format showing two arrays of dots side by side. The intermixed format likely makes additional demands on general cognitive resources for inhibitory control, selective attention, or visuospatial working memory. The performance on the intermixed format was significantly lower than that of the side-by-side format resulting in an underestimation of ANS acuity compared to the expected trajectory of ANS development. In addition, the ANS acuity measured from only the side-by-side format was correlated with children's mathematical achievement and age. Our results demonstrate that measurement of ANS from the side-by-side format has higher construct and predictive validity compared to that of the intermixed format.
