  • Science gifted students enrolled in a program, where classes had either explicit or implicit instruction about self-directed learning, were asked to write what was satisfying after each class. This process was part of the evaluation of the program. Students' descriptions related to self-directed learning are compared in these two classes, one with explicit instruction and the other with implicit instruction. First, most of the components related to self-directed learning, which were reported in the previous research articles, were mentioned in students evaluation. If there was any specific description regarding what was satisfying, there were components of self-directed learning. Students descriptions were consistent with list of self-directed learning components, which was constructed based on the previous research. Therefore it may be concluded that students recognized most of the reported self-directed learning components and satisfied with them. Second, There were differences in the evaluation of two types of classes. The evaluation of class with explicit instruction contained more self-directed learning components more frequently. For example, students worked in small groups in both classes. However more students mentioned small groups in classes with explicit instruction. As a result the explicit instruction appears to be more effective for students to recognize the self-directed learning components. However some of the components mentioned in classes with implicit instruction were not mentioned in the classes with explicit instruction. Therefore classes with explicit and implicit instructions are complimentary with each other and both instructions are necessary.

  • 2009 revised national curriculum for mathematics emphasizes the mathematical processes which consist of mathematical problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical communication. This study focused on applying these processes to an elementary school class for mathematics. Even though they say that it is desirable that the mathematical processes are realized in every mathematics class, any vague intention for their application without specific plans is apt to be apart from meaningful practice. Therefore this study proposed a lesson plan about the characteristics and the comparison of bar graphs and line graphs for 4th grade students based on the mathematical processes. And we applied it to 27 subjects. By observing and analyzing their activities and communications, we discussed about the guidelines of applying the mathematical processes to elementary school classes for mathematics.

  • This convergence study was conducted to identify the effect of the awareness enhancing program of the international development cooperation of college students sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). A quasi-experimental study design was used. The participants consisted of one experimental group (n=32) who attended the awareness enhancing class of international development cooperation and the other control group (n=32) who did not participate in the class in a university in C city. The data were collected using online survey before the first class and after the last class in spring semester 2019. Collected data were analyzed by ANCOVA using SPSS WIN Version 20.0 program. The levels of global citizenship (p=.003) and career preparation behavior (p=.013) was higher in the experimental group than in the control group. However, career identity(p=.385) and cooperative efficacy(p=.488) did not show significant difference between the groups. This study proposed the direction for the awareness enhancing program of the international development cooperation of college students by showing its positive effects on the global citizenship and career preparation behavior.

  • This study examined the factors that affect the relationship among career selection type, class participation, and career preparation behavior for university students who major in food service. A total of 350 questionnaires were distributed to students, of which 320 were deemed suitable for analysis after the removal of 30 unusable responses. In order to perform statistical analyses required in the study, SPSS 18.0 Statistical Program was employed for frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlations, and regression analysis. The results of the exploratory factor analysis showed that two factors regarding career selection type were extracted from all measurements with a KMO of 0.754 and a total cumulative variance of 64.555%, with regard to class participation, three factors [I found only 1 factor in the paper; there were 3 variables] were extracted with a total cumulative variance of 71.1% and a KMO score of 0.702. One factor for career preparation behavior was extracted that accounted for a total cumulative variance of 64.312% and a KMO score of 0.765. Based on the study's results, the main research hypothesis that identified the relationships that career selection type had with and between class participation and career preparation behavior was partially adopted.

  • This study introduces the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and explores the characteristics of CLASS for observing classroom. The CLASS is a standardized observation instrument that was largely developed for use in the USA. The CLASS attempts to provide a conceptual framework for categorizing classroom interactions and consists of three broad domains of quality (emotional supports, classroom organization, instructional supports). We simulated this method to the elementary school classes. The professional-teacher makes the best use of student's initiation behaviors, and the novice teacher focused on the leading the contents of subject. The novice teacher tyr to make more positive climate and to present more frequent feedback to students than professional teacher's classroom. The professional teacher would like to reveal the student's opinions, questions and subtle emotional state. The CLASS can be used to collect data on a wide range of specific aspects of the teaching and learning process at any given time.

  • The significant changes of convergence study in the 21st century is the shift from theoretical-based instruction to computer-based instruction. This study investigated the student's cognitive engagement in TPB(Theory of Planned Behavior) of accounting information classes in the Digital Convergence Era. Hypothesis test was conducted from 99 accounting information learners from four year course university in the Gyeonggi-do. A questionnaire was given and analyzed. The results showed. First, the TPB variables han a positive effect on intrinsic curiosity of students. Second, the subjective norm of TPB variables could develop student's enjoyment. Subject norm could have a positive effect on enjoyment. The results of this study may contribute to propose desirable ways of improving the psychological states in the relationship between TPB and cognitive engagement. In the future, variables of cognitive engagement will be compliment to analyze.

  • Appropriate distribution and utilization of learning time in class are regarded as essential and basic conditions for successful education. Nonetheless, among studies about UCR(User Created Robot) based instruction so far is difficult to find the research related to the class. For these reasons, we attempt to analyze the ALT(Actual Learning Time) and unuse of learning time in UCR based instruction. For these purpose, we observed three students who were with third and fourth grade integrated class of elementary school and interviewed the teachers at pre-post class. The result of this study showed the following results: (1) UCR based instruction present lower ALT than traditional classes. (2) Most of the unnecessary time used in their classes tend to be used in preparing and arranging the robot module, a little is used unnecessarily because of the students' unrelated behaviors for their learning, decentralized behaviors and other external influences.

  • There is true that the evaluation of non-face-to-face swimming classes currently offered by universities due to the COVID-19 outbreak is generally negative. For this reason, the quality of non-face-to-face swimming classes at universities is bound to depend on the expertise of the instructor. However, whether or not of students who lack of practices of swimming could experience exercise flow and could continuously last the swimming exercise after semester or even graduation is difficult to confirm. This is considered to be a significant threat in the future not only for swimming, but also for all liberal arts and lifestyle sports. This study aimed at 281 non-athletic college students with experience of taking both swimming classes, and the need for a study on the structural relationship between exercise flow and participation intention by university swimming class leaders' expertise in non-sports majoring college students. And the results were empirically analyzed. The research results derived in this process are summarized as follows. First, the effect of swimming class leader's expertise (personality, lecture skills, student management, practical skills, basic knowledge) perceived by non-athletic college students on exercise flow (cognitive flow, behavior flow) affects cognitive flow. As a factor influencing, it was found that lecture skills had a statistically positive (+) effect, and as factors influencing behavioral commitment, the positive (+) effect was statistically significant in personality, lecture skills, student management, and basic knowledge. Second, as for the effect of exercise commitment (cognitive commitment, behavior commitment) perceived by non-athletic college students on continuous participation intention, the behavioral commitment factor was found to have a statistically positive (+) effect.
