Korean Students' Traditional Value of Children in Family -by asking the agreement on the proverbs- (속담을 통해 본 대학생의 전통적 자녀관)

  • This research investigated the Korean students' traditional value of children in family, by asking the degree of agreement on the proverbs concerning the notion of preferring a son, negative value on a daughter, and hardness of child-rearing. The findings indicated that in general the Korean students were disagreed on the traditional value of children in family, while many of them still agreed on hardness of child-rearing. We expected that female students were likely to express the stronger disagreement on preferring a son and negative value on a daughter, but there was no difference in preferring a son. Also we expected that the students who had lived with their grandparents would more likely to have the traditional values, but they expressed the stronger disagreement on preferring a son than others. Second, in general the Korean students disagreed on familism. The female students and the students who had lived with their grandparents were likely to express the stronger disagreement on familism. Third, there was positive correlation between familism and preferring a son, and between familism and negative value on a daughter. Fourth, the students who believed that there was no absolute necessity for the child in a family expressed the stronger disagreement on preferring a son, and scored lower degree on familism. There was negative correlation between the ideal number of children in a family and the notion of hardness of child-rearing, but positive correlation between the ideal number of children and familism. And as much as they answered the longer child-rearing period, scored positive value on a daughter.

A Study on Fare Estimation for Demand Responsive Transport (수요응답형교통체계 이용요금 가치 추정 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the appropriate Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) fare for bus users upon introduction of the system, which is to improve ridership on economically non-profitable routes and to conform to the mobility right of those living in presently non-serviced rural areas. For this, a stated preference (SP) survey was adopted to assess respondents' preferences regarding DRT introduction, while the contingent valuation method (CVM) was used to calculate their willingness to pay (WTP) for DRT services. The analysis results show that, compared to the existing bus services with a 1,000 won bus fare, the value of DRT is considered to be 38.85%, 31.03% and 30.12% higher in terms of overall assessment, usability and convenience, respectively. The results of this study are expected to facilitate the decision making aimed at setting the appropriate DRT fare and implementing a DRT system that meets sustainability requirements.

An Investigation on the Impact of Psychological Factor on the Adoption of Mobile Device: Based on the Preferences of iPhone in China (모바일 기기 수용에 대한 심리적 요인에 대한 고찰: 중국 내 아이폰 선호를 중심으로)

  • This study investigates the impact of social-face sensitivity of smartphones on the adoption of iPhone in China. Social-face sensitivity is divided into three dimensions, namely, other-directed sensitivity, self-directed sensitivity, and formality-directed sensitivity. We surveyed 218 university students in China through an online survey site. The results showed that formality-directed and other-directed sensitivity have significant impacts on iPhone preferences. Self-directed sensitivity was not significant. We investigated two moderate variables, namely, financial ability and brand sensitivity. Both variables showed significantly moderate impacts on the intention to purchase iPhone. The impact of social-face sensitivity on iPhone preferences implies that the iPhone has dual characteristics to the Chinese, namely, as utility and luxury goods. This finding offers managerial implications for Apple and other mobile service companies in terms of production and marketing strategies.

Analysis of Preference for UAM of Public Transportation Users Following UAM Adoption (Incheon Airport - Incheon Gil Medical Center Line) (도심항공교통(UAM) 도입에 따른 대중교통 이용자들의 UAM에 대한 선호도 분석 (인천공항-인천길병원 노선사례))

  • In this study, in order to analyze the preference for UAM of public transportation users following the introduction of urban air transportation(UAM), A preference consciousness(SP) survey was conducted on 840 users of Incheon public transportation using the Incheon International Airport-Incheon Gil Hospital route, which is the urban air traffic(UAM) demonstration route section. In addition, the means selection model was estimated based on the results of conducting a preference consciousness (SP) survey. As a result of analyzing the time value for travel using the established means selection model, it was found to be 56,428 won/hour, As a result of verifying the elasticity of travel cost (won), in-vehicle time (minutes), and out-of-vehicle time (minutes) in the model, the effect on the urban air traffic (UAM) share in this model was found that travel cost (won), in-vehicle time (minutes), and out-of-vehicle time (minutes) were in order, and the effect was greater when the travel cost (won) decreased than when it increased.

Koreans Sense of Home: An Analysis of the Relationship between Their Ethos and Relevant Geographical Attributes (한국인의 고향관: 그 지리학적 요인과 정서(ethos)의 관계)

  • 본 연구에서는 고향의 개념을 의미론적 측면과 지리학적 입장에서 정의하고, 한국 사람들이 고향이라고 지칭하는 고향의 공간적 대상, 고향에 대한 감정과 선호, 고향의 지리적 특징 및 이미지 등을 조사하여, 이를 중심으로 한국인의 고향에 대한 애착의 본질과 정서(ethos)를 밝히려 하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국인의 고향에 대한 애착은 본질적으로 고향 의식과 회귀본능과 같은 고향에 대한 인류의 보편적 정서로부터 나온 것이다. 둘째. 이러한 보편적 정서 위에 한국의 사회적 배경에서 나오는 고유한 고향의식이 첨가되었다. 사회적 배경에서 발생된 고향에 대한 강한 애착은 효에 근본을 둔 유교적 전통, 남북분단, 도시화에 따른 광범위한 실향의 결과에 의해서 형성된 정서라고 볼수 있다. 섯째, 고향이미지는 이러한 한국의 정서를 반영하고 있으며, 자연환경적, 인문환경적, 감각적 요소가 모두 수렴된 전형적이며, 추상화된 유형으로 나타난다. 넛째, 한국인의 고향에 대한 정서는 인간의 본성으로부터 나오는 보편적 정서와 대체로는 일치하지만 개인이나 집단의 인구.사회적 배경과 공간적 체험에 따라 다른 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on the Hand-washing Awareness and Practices of Female University Students (여자 대학생의 손 씻기 의식과 실천에 관한 연구)

  • Hand-washing is one of the most important factors in infection control and in preventing cross-contamination. The objective of this study was to investigate female university students' awareness of hand-washing, their hand washing practices, and the difference between their awareness and practices. A self-administered questionnaire survey and direct observation in restrooms were separately carried out in a university campus and over four weeks' period. A total of 97.4% of the survey respondents claimed to wash their hands after using toilet, and 98.2% of the observed students actually did so according to the unnoticed observational study. However, only 6.3% of the students who washed their hands in the direct observation washed for more than 10 seconds, although 46.4% of respondents in the survey reported that they usually wash their hands for more than 10 seconds. Among the observed students who washed their hands, only 0.9% used soap, and 0.9% washed four parts of their hands. Paper towel was the most common hand-drying method in the direct observation and also in the survey. Significant differences were found in duration, use of soap, part of washing, and hand-drying method between the questionnaire survey and the direct observation (p<0.05). This study indicates that there is a noticeable difference between the awareness of hand-washing and hand-washing practices among female university students. Further research should examine hand-washing practices of female university students in restrooms outside the university campus.

A Survey on Elementary School Childrens′ Awareness of and Preference for Kimchi (초등학생의 김치에 대한 의식과 선호 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of this research is to provide a basic knowledge of Kimchi and to improve elementary school childrens' Kimchi intake. We researchers have done statistical analyses of 808 questionnaires completed by elementary school children and their mothers on their awareness of and preference for Kimchi. The results were as follows: About 80.2% of the children regarded Kimchi as one of our nutritious and traditional foods, and 83.8% of the subjects had an affirmative opinion of Kimchi intake. The most well known Kimchi is as follows: Baechu Kimchi, Kkaktugi, Nabak Kimchl, Chonggak Kimchi, Saaennip Kimchi and Buchu Kimchi. The children preferred the peculiar and refreshing taste of Kimchi. Their preference of Kimchi is in the following order: Baechu Kimchi, Skaktugi, Chonggak Kimchi, Nabak Kimchi and Oi Sobagi. And the children also preferred the stems of the cabbage. The children preferred properly fermented and freshly prepared Kimchi. Their favorite ingredients were red pepper powder, Korean radishes, pickled anchovies, sesame leaves, garlic and scallions. The children wanted Kimchi that is less hot and more sweet. The ingredients children wanted to add to Kimchi are pears, cuttlefish, oranges, apples and cucumbers.

A Study on the Gender Equality Consciousness, Preference and Learning Effectiveness for Technology.Home Economics of Middle and High School Students (중등학생의 양성평등의식과 기술.가정 교과 선호도 및 학습효과에 관한 연구)

  • The main purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of gender equality consciousness of middle and high school student on the preference for Technology Home Economics and its teaming effectiveness. For this purpose, the gender equality consciousness, the preference and learning effectiveness of Technology Home Economics were measured among a number of 404 middle and high school students in Chuncheon city. The results of this study were summarized as following: 1. The gender equality consciousness of female students was higher than that of male students. 2. Middle and high school students had the higher preference and learning effectiveness for the Home Economics area in Technology Home Economics than they had for the Technology. 3. Female student's preference and learning effectiveness for the Home Economics area in Technology Home Economics were higher than male student's. Male student's preference and Loaming effectiveness for the Technology area in Technology Home Economics were higher than female student's. 4. The group which had relatively high gender equality consciousness score showed the higher preference and learning effectiveness for the Home Economics area in Technology Home Economics than the group with low gender equality consciousness score. In contrast, the group with low gender equality consciousness score had the higher preference for the Technology area in Technology Home Economics than the group with high gender equality consciousness score. In conclusion, gender equality consciousness and gender type had the most strong influence on the preference and learning effectiveness for Technology Home Economics among middle-high school students.

Study of the FireFighting publicity Satisfaction and an Estimate of the Effects (소방홍보 만족도와 효과측정에 대한 연구)

  • This study examined the firefighting publicity satisfaction (FFPS) and the effects of firefighting publicity (EOFFP) on efficient firefighting publicity (FFP). In addition, the relationship between FFPS and EOFFP was analyzed. The result of the investigation of the FFPS was 58.5 points, which was slightly higher than the medium. The result of EOFFP revealed an increase in fire safety consciousness. In particular, the fire extinguishing ability was higher than the other item. The most powerful FFP method in raising fire safety consciousness was the Internet/Smart phone. Another effective and favorite method of FFP was the media. Fire safety consciousness did not influence the FFPS but the FFPS had an impact on the EOFFP.
