The Effects of team centralization on shared mental model, satisfaction, and achievement in a web-based collaborative learning (웹기반 협력학습에서 상호작용의 중심화 정도가 팀원의 공유정신모형, 만족도, 성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of centralization on shared mental model, satisfaction and achievement in a web-based collaborative learning. Sixty-eight undergraduate students were randomly assigned to 7 groups and they participated in a 4-week web-based collaborative learning. Three highly centralized teams and three less centralized teams were selected, and analyzed for investigating whether there are meaningful differences in shared mental model, satisfaction and achievement according to the degree of centralization. The results showed that there was no significant difference in shared mental model between the highly and less centralized teams. However, the highly centralized teams showed higher level of satisfaction and achievement than the less centralized teams.

The Belt and Road Initiative and the US-China Trade War: Implications for Global Trade Networks (일대일로와 미·중 무역 분쟁: 글로벌 무역 네트워크에의 함의)

  • By using the trade in value-added(TiVA) database and employing social network analysis, this paper analyzes changes in global trade to be triggered by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the US-China trade war. The main results are summarized as follows. First, the BRI will help maintain China's core position as the world's manufacturing hub, and will strengthen Europe's service industry capabilities within the global value chain(GVC) network. Second, the US R&D industry, US wholesale and retail industries, and Germany's automobile industry were considered the most influential industries in the GVC network during the 1995-2011 period, and will retain their status until 2049, when the US-China trade war and the BRI are reflected. Third, the increase of the number of communities shows that the BRI might spur fragmentation of the production process. Finally, community structures of inter-industry trade relations, including China's electronics industry, Germany's automobile industry, and US R&D, show important features that are related to the competiveness of each country's service industries.

An Ethnographic Research on the Practice of Maeul Community Media (마을공동체미디어 실천에 대한 민속지학적 연구)

  • This study examines the practice of maeul community media as follows; Who, why, and how the role of participants is related to the operation of maeul community media, and the participation requirements. For this purpose, the maeul newspaper published in rural areas was approached by ethnographic Research, and participation observation, in-depth interview, and content analysis were performed. In conclusion, it was confirmed that harmonious participation of residents is the core condition of maeul community media practice. Residents' participation is based on the requirements of spontaneity, openness, talent donation, and local relationship. Spontaneity is a desire and effort for the activation of the community as a member of the local community. Openness is related to the operation structure of maeul community media where anyone can freely participate. Talent donation is based on their experience, knowledge, and expertise as a concrete practice of resident participation. Local relationship is the network of community that connects spontaneity and practice, and the operating structure of maeul community media. These requirements should be operated positively to ensure the function of maeul community media and sustainability.

Method for Cultivating the Technology Transfer Based on Extracting the Technology Transfer Broker -Case Study of Global MVP (기술이전중개자 도출을 통한 기술이전 활성화 방법론 -Global MVP 연구단 사례)

  • Effective acquisition technology is an important factor determining the competitiveness of companies(Roxas et al., 2011). Since the importance of technology transfer has been increased, there has been a growing interest in company, government, university and research institutes (Bozeman et al., 2015). Despite the national efforts for activating technology transfer, a lot of technology is still in universities and R&D center(Ockwell et al., 2009). The barriers of technology transfer are a main reason to inhibit the technology transfer. In order to be lower technology transfer barriers, it is necessary to derive the technology transfer broker based on social network analysis. However, most studies related to technology transfer broker had been focused on empirical study(Bozeman et al., 2015). Therefore, it is needed to suggest the method to grasp the opportunity that can lead to technology innovation based on analyzing and visualizing the network of technology transfer. The method in this study provides the company with the connectable path, technology transfer broker and strategy to classify the technology actor within the network. Finally, the method is applied to Global MVP for verifying the feasibility of method.

Exploring the Issue Structure of Drone Crime in Newspaper Articles: Focusing on Language Network Analysis (신문 기사에서의 드론 범죄 관련 이슈구조 탐색: 언어 네트워크 분석을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to explore the issue of drones and crime in newspaper articles. BIG KINDS, an online news archive of the Korea Press Foundation, collected 1,213 newspaper articles that met the terms of "drone" and "crime" in 11 central and 28 regional comprehensive newspapers between January 1, 1990 and May 1, 2021. Among them, we perform keyword frequency, centrality analysis, network structure construction, CONCOR analysis, and density matrix analysis on 117 key keywords. According to the analysis, the main issues were classified into eight, and the report analysis on drones and crimes in newspaper articles showed that the government's policy-making and social problems on protecting people's privacy, preventing illegal filming, securing navigation safety, social security and resolution. This study attempts to expand the field of humanities and social studies related to drones and crime, and specifically suggests the current status and counterplan against drone-related crimes as policy implications and media implications.

Diagnosis Model for Closed Organizations based on Social Network Analysis (소셜 네트워크 분석 기반 통제 조직 진단 모델)

  • Human resources are one of the most essential elements of an organization. In particular, the more closed a group is, the higher the value each member has. Previous studies have focused on personal attributes of individual, such as medical history, and have depended upon self-diagnosis to manage structures. However, this method has weak points, such as the timeconsuming process required, the potential for concealment, and non-disclosure of participants' mental states, as this method depends on self-diagnosis through extensive questionnaires or interviews, which is solved in an interactive way. It also suffers from another problem in that relations among people are difficult to express. In this paper, we propose a multi-faced diagnosis model based on social network analysis which overcomes former weaknesses. Our approach has the following steps : First, we reveal the states of those in a social network through 9 questions. Next, we diagnose the social network to find out specific individuals such as victims or leaders using the proposed algorithm. Experimental results demonstrated our model achieved 0.62 precision rate and identified specific people who are not revealed by the existing methods.

  • This study pays attention to the organization of local-level farming group, which has been recognized as a solution to the problems of agriculture and rural area with their crisis deepened by the coming of FTA. More specifically, this study analyzed each farming household's understanding of the farming group organization of fruit nursery tree growing region, and their participational behavior types. As a result, it is revealed that the organization of farming group oriented to enhance its competence must aim to realize its economic benefits rather than to maintain the social relationship among the members of organization. Also it has to orient itself not to abstract causes but to more concrete and practical objects. In addition, the farming group must be organized based on the identity of growing farm product, and in respect of the reliability among the members, there must be a proper level of control that makes the internal control and the harmonious interaction among the members to be possible.

A Comparison of First Time and Repeat Visitors' Tourism Destination -Focusing on Seoul City (최초방문자와 재방문자의 관광목적지 선택차이 연구 -서울지역을 중심으로)

  • This paper investigates differences of tourism destination choices for sightseeing in Seoul between first-time visitors and repeat visitors. We constructed social network using secondary data from '2015 International Visitor Survey' and analyzed its density and centrality. Study results find that: (1) first-time and repeat visitors' tourism destinations are concentrated in areas located north of the Han river. The proximity of destinations suggests the positive effects resulting from the movement network. (2) As the result of degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality, the highest ranking tourism destinations for both visitor groups are identical, but indexes of centralities in repeat visitors' destinations increase, including Shinchon/ Hongik University, Gangnam station, and Garosu-gil. Therefore, the roles of these destinations are becoming established as tourism hubs and are popular among younger visitors as well as attract repeat visitors. Results of this study will be a useful reference in developing and managing new tourism products.

One-to-All and All-to-all Broadcasting Algorithms of Matrix Hypercube (매트릭스 하이퍼큐브의 일-대-다 방송과 다-대-다 방송 알고리즘)

  • Broadcasting is a basic data communication method for interconnection networks. There are two types of broadcasting. One-to-all broadcasting is to transmit a message from one node to all other nodes and all-to-all broadcasting is to transmit a message from all the nodes that have messages to other nodes. And by the using way of the transmission port per unit time, there are two schemes of broadcasting. Single port telecommunication(SLA) is to transmit messages from one node that contains the messages to one adjacent node only and all port telecommunication(MLA) is to transmit messages from one node to all adjacent nodes within a time of unit. Matrix hypercube is that an interconnection network has improved network cost than that of hypercube with the same number of nodes. In this paper, we analyze broadcasting scheme of matirx hypercube. First, we propose one-to-all and all-to-all broadcasting algorithms of matrix hypercube. And we prove that one-to-all broadcasting times are 2n+1 and $2{\lceil}{\frac{n}{2}}{\rceil}+1$ based on the SLA and MLA models, respectively. Also, we show all-to-all broadcasting time using SLA model is $5{\times}2^{\frac{n}{2}}-2$ when n=even, and is $5{\times}2^{\frac{n-1}{2}}+2$ when n=odd.

Predicting the Retention of University Freshmen Using Peer Relationships (대학 신입생들의 교우관계를 통한 학업유지 예측)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine whether the retention of university freshmen could be predicted using their peer relationships in a specific department. In this study, retention was defined as a student staying enrolled in their university for a certain period of time. Social relationships are formed through interaction between people, so both students' self-perceptions and others' perceptions of them must be accounted for, so we used a social network analysis that did so. We examined social networks visualizations that allowed for a rich interpretation of numerical information. Participants in this study were freshmen who enrolled in an undergraduate program in 2017, 2018, or 2019. We used the name generator method to determine how quantitative friendship network variables predicted the academic retention up to the first semester of 2020. Cox proportional hazard model analysis showed that the weighted indegree centrality with intimacy positively predicted retention. The results of this study can be used to identify and conduct interventions for students who may be likely to disenroll. However all of the students did not participate in the department, it was difficult to examine their entire peer networks. Thus, this study's results cannot be generalized because the participants are students of a specific major, so further research is needed to produce more generalizable results.
