This study attempts to determine the strategy to improve the quality of staff supervision by exploring the experiences of the staff supervision in community welfare centers. For this purpose, multiple case study was performed by conducting in-depth interviews with 10 supervisors for the analysis data and analyzing the resulting themes. The key subjects from their experience were 'Supervisors recognize and prepare the supervision as Challenge and Aspiration', 'Supervision leaves only chaos and frustration', and 'Inspiration from the supervisor and infinite effort result in fruit'. Based on these results, this study suggests the following practical suggestions for the educational, administrative and supportive functions of Supervision. First, educational functions should be proposed as an extension of supervisor's education opportunities and manuals related to educational growth of supervision. Second, the administrative function should be changed to evaluate social welfare institution's evaluation framework so as to evaluate the supervision internal regulation and supervision according to it and various supervision models should be developed. Third, supportive supervision function that can be encouraged for supervisees should be enhanced. This study was meaningful because it presents specific suggestions for supervisors and supervisee's relation and situation in the community welfare center through the qualitative research method.
This study is to understand the psychosocial experience in 'Cheonan Warship Incident Survivors'. The study question was how psychosocial experience in The Union of Family Bereaved by Cheonan Warship had been progressed. To answer this question 4 representers ofthe group and 2 reporters had been interviewed using a qualitative research method based on Phenomenology method. From this study the group's experience in had been revealed that they first crisis intervention are to identify and reinforce the strengths and coping skills of a one's family. Second, they gathered their opinion together and assigned the roles to the members, and then, requested what they want responding reasonably. The families' love, the representers' quick judgements and decisions, and the embarrassment of the military and media for the dead, who had been abandoned for long and decayed under the cold ocean, made the national support and respectful treatment possible for the dead and the family. The results of study will be applicable for individuals and groups, who need social work service as an empowerment intervention approach and crisis intervention are to identify and reinforce the strengths and coping skills of a one's family. The social worker's ability to anticipate, understand, and give therapeutic direction to the crisis reaction and the concerns of family members helps to bring around a successful crisis resolution. It is clear to us that wars, suicides, homicides in school settings, disaster and other events are providing unique challenges to social workers who are interested in learning more about the effects such events have on victims of traumatic events.
The purposes of the study are to describe the feature of the program components, and to identify their changes in the process of designing the social work programs in the community service agencies in Korea. In order to achieve these purposes, the researchers constructed an analytical framework including 24 program components derived from the related literatures. Data was collected by questionnaires answered by the social workers who were in charge of the program development and implementation. Descriptive statistics analysis and factor analysis were applied to exam the features of the program components in 195 social service programs developed by the funds from the Community Chest of Korea and a private funding foundation. As the result of the analysis, the three noticeable features are found; (1) the agencies have very actively involved in the designing work in the process of developing practice guideline, however they have less involved in the designing work in the process of implementing program; (2) program components which are low level in design activities are intervention models, staff education, and practical ethics; (3) 8 categories of components derived from the theoretical perspective are reduced to 6 categories in the process for developing practice guidelines, finally to 4 categories in the process for implementing the programs. The implications of major findings were discussed in academic and practical perspectives in Korea, including future research works in the area.
This study is to explore the awareness of human rights and human rights education of workers in welfare facilities for the disabled from various aspects by using Creswell's mixed methodology. Although 10 years have passed since the statutory compulsory human rights education in welfare facilities for the disabled was implemented, there is still a limit to containing practical contents that can be applied to the welfare field for the disabled. Based on this reality, this study intends to examine in depth what human rights education is perceived by workers in welfare facilities for the disabled. As a result of the study, in the qualitative analysis, human rights in the field of social welfare practice, the perception of human rights education and human rights instructors, the direction of effective human rights education development, and the creation of a human rights-friendly community were presented as major issues. In the quantitative analysis, a survey was conducted targeting the welfare facilities of the disabled in Seongnam City to understand the general status of human rights education and the specific conditions of human rights education including the educational environment. Based on the results, including the results of qualitative analysis, a development direction for statutory compulsory human rights education for workers in welfare facilities for the disabled was proposed.
This study was to applied QIMS(Qualitative Interpretive Meta-Synthesis) which was newly introduced in the field of social science recently to explore the client violence experience and coping in the social workers in a new way and in depth. The integrated analysis of the results of qualitative individual studies published in Korea so far has resulted in abundant results with accumulated knowledge and synergistic understanding paths of existing research results, and the limitations of qualitative research have been overcome. Eight published papers from 2013 to 2020 were included in the final analysis, and a total of 85 social workers analyzed the statements. The newly important themes created through the process of reducing the scope of data and the repetition of theme extraction and integration were divided into four categories: (1) violence and pain that can not be removed, (2) duality experienced as a result of occupation, (3) continuous attempts to change, (4) manifestation of sense of duty and job meaning. Based on the results of the integrated themes derived from this study, this study aims to present practical and policy alternatives to the prevention and coping of client violence experienced by social workers in various social welfare practice fields.
This study was performed to analysis the social worker's duty in korea and suggest for typology duties of 1st grade social worker, 2nd or 3th grade social worker's qualification. 911 social workers responded to questioner. This objectives was accomplished by the measuring to frequency of duties, and the qualifying cognition of each grade social worker's duties. As a result, social worker spent more time carried out maintenance of facility, direct services, intake, management of file and official document duties than personal management, planning and financial program, evaluation and termination duties. Type of social worker's duties fined out composed of 4 type. Type I(The 1st grade social worker's duties) was belonged to 53 task elements, type IV(The 2nd or 3rd grade social worker's duties) was subjected to 11 task elements. 21 task elements performed to either 1st grade social worker or 2nd, 3rd grade social worker by type or uniqueness of social work practices. To allocation of duties by each grade social worker, fitting out of qualification system, the task elements for each grade of social worker must be prescribed by the rules. This allocation of duties by each grade social worker would be utilized to support qualified social work services, and to strengthening of their professional.
This study aims to develop the case management activities inventory relevant to community-based mental health settings. The comprehensive literature review was conducted to define the concepts and activities for the case management process. After the content analysis from the professional scholar and the mental health-related worker, 83 items were constructed. A survey was conducted to 265 case managers in community mental health centers. Through exploratory factor analysis, reliability and validity analysis, finally 8 factors and 43 items were identified.

Since the introduction of local autonomy system, various specific theories and practical approaches for private commission system have been common concerns and interests of the fields practicing social welfare. In the discussion about private consignment system of social welfare facility and organization, both of private section and government have shown different opinions from various aspects such as related regulation, consignment procedure, proper period and consignment condition. According to the discussion about the consignment system of social welfare facility, the purpose of this study is as follows. The first purpose is to suggest the current status of private consignment of social welfare facility and the characteristic and issue of consignment procedure by considering domestic & overseas literatures about the characteristic of private consignment system. The second purpose is to find out the general characteristics and current statuses of consignment process and system of social welfare facilities (organizations) located in Gyeonggi-do area. The third purpose is to draw the current status and general problem of field consignment system and suggest the practical alternative plan and improvement method of private consignment system of social welfare facility in the future. The result of researching private consignment process by head and manager of social welfare facility (organization), private consignment agreement and its conclusion process and current consignment system improvement method revealed that the number of reconsigned (over 1~3 times) facilities was more than that of initially consigned facilities and senior welfare facility and general social welfare center were most frequent in private consignment organization. In addition, as an improvement method of current private consignment process, the consideration on each organization and standard was required for new consignment and reconsignment and the problem of fairness and objectiveness was indicated when deliberation committee was organized in private consignment process. Besides them, it was found that consignment period shall be adjusted on the basis of facility type and business characteristic and the problems such as worker's succession, worker's transfer and service disconnection were suggested when consignment organization was changed. For conclusion and suggestion, the study suggested the establishment of common standard about private consignment, alternative plan of private consignment process issue and improvement method of consignment period issue.
This study is a research that investigated organization of case management practice at a mental health center. For organization research of case management practice, this study applied the research method of Institutional Ethnography, and analyzed 'work knowledge' and 'texts' data which were obtained through field work that lasted 3 months with 11 study participants. The analysis is not interpretation of the researcher, but it is work that assembles 'work knowledge' of field workers until they reach discovering institutions that organize case management practice. As a result of this study, case management practice of the mental health center was being standardized as 'a service that is biased towards symptom management without comprehensive and continual resources links' by new public management theory, bio-medicine discussion, 'standardization policy', 'treatment rate improvement policy', 'performance-based budget system', 'performance evaluation system' and 'continual linkage policy', mediating texts. This is a different outcome from usefulness of case management that is claimed to support politically.
The purpose of this article was to study how social workers' belief and behaviors with respect to ethical issues have changed during the past decade by comparing the results of studies carried out in 2001 and 2011, respectively. Focusing on dual relationship with clients, this article reviewed how social workers' belief and behaviors towards ethical issues have changed over the changing socio-demographic characteristics and varying properties of the organizations for which the workers provide services. To accomplish this purpose, we surveyed 356 social workers while the results of the survey was subjected to a comparative review with another research performed 10 years ago under a similar approach. Widely acknowledged during the survey was that the social workers appeared to have more rigid ethical standards compared to 10 years ago; however, they tended to be more permissive in certain issues such as bartering relationship and private relationship. In addition, according to the survey, belief and behaviors of social workers towards ethical issues varied depending upon their gender, education level, and the properties of the organization as seen in the survey in 2001 while the modalities have changed over the decade. Based on these results, it is suggested that the curriculum of social work ethics should be revised to reflect present field situation and inspire ethical sensitivity.
