Influence of Convergence Education Based on Computing ThinkingAbility on Problem Solving Ability and Interest (컴퓨팅 사고력을 토대로 한 융합활동이 문제해결력 및 관심도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to verify the effect of convergence education applying computing thinking ability of elementary school students on problem solving ability and interest. The subjects of this study were 23 students in 3rd grade elementary school and 15 students in 6th grade, totaling 38 subjects. As a research method, problem-solving ability and interest were measured through questionnaires, and data were analyzed through T-test to see the pre-post differences of the experimental group. As a result of the study, first, it was found that convergence education applying computing thinking ability had a positive effect on problem solving ability. Second, it was found that convergence education applying computational thinking has a partial effect on the degree of interest by subject. Looking at the details, interest in software education and physical activity was high, but interest in eating habits was relatively low. From the above results, it can be seen that convergence education based on computational thinking contributes to drawing students' problem solving ability, and interest.

  • In the knowledge-information-oriented society, it is difficult for students to solve lots of problems or adapt themselves to society just by using simple knowledge. Students have to develop individual problem solving ability and creative, logical thinking ability. They can develope these abilities by learning computer programming. This thesis studies the influences of a flow-chart learning on the logical thinking ability in Scratch using programming learning. The findings identify that the making algorithm by using flow-chart is more effective in developing logical thinking ability then the making algorithm by using pseudo-code.

  • 본 연구에서는 컴퓨팅 사고력 평가도구로써 비버 챌린지 문항을 활용하기 위하여 문항반응이론을 통해 비버 챌린지 문항을 분석하고, 비버 챌린지에서 기존에 제시하는 난이도와 문항반응이론을 통한 난이도 간의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 비버 챌린지는 쉽고 변별력이 높은 검사로 나타났으나, 비버 챌린지에서 제시하는 난이도와 문항반응이론을 통한 난이도 간의 상관관계는 없었다. 난이도에 따라 가점과 감점이 이루어지는 비버 챌린지 채점 기준을 고려할 때 정확한 컴퓨팅 사고력 측정을 위해서는 난이도에 대한 수정 및 보완이 필요하다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 21세기 학습자가 반드시 갖추어야 할 컴퓨팅 사고력 향상을 위하여 컴퓨팅 사고력의 핵심 요소인 추상화에 집중할 수 있는 퍼즐 기반 학습을 설계하고자 한 데 있다. 이를 위하여 컴퓨팅 개념과 원리를 포함하는 퍼즐 문항을 개발하고 컴퓨팅 사고력의 문제 해결 요소 9가지를 기반으로 퍼즐 해결에 접근할 수 있는 수업을 설계하였다. 또한 교수학습을 위한 전략으로 학습자에게 성취감을 부여하는 성공의 경험, 다양한 난이도를 가진 퍼즐 문항 구성, 정답대신 해결 과정에 집중하는 교사태도를 제시하였다. 퍼즐 기반 학습은 학습자의 컴퓨팅 사고력 향상을 통해 앞으로 직면할 다양하고 복잡한 문제를 효과적이고 효율적인 해결하도록 할 것이다.

Causal relationship between learning motivation and thinking in programming education using online evaluation tool (온라인 평가 도구를 활용한 프로그래밍 교육에서 학습 동기와 사고력 간 인과 관계)

  • Recently, interest in online teaching·learning and evaluation tools has increased in the context of Covid-19. In order to use tools effectively, it is necessary to identify the structural influence and causal relationship between the learner's affective and cognitive variables. In this study, to identify a causal relationship between motivation and thinking while using online judge, research and competing model were established and model fit/path analysis were performed. It was found that there was a linear causal relationship from tool usage, self-efficacy, flow, logical thinking, to computational thinking. It was confirmed that 'self-efficacy → flow', or 'flow' had mediating effect on the path from tool usage to thinking, and tool usage was not exerted to thinking through 'flow → self-efficacy'. The causality of 'logical thinking → computational thinking' was identified on the path where tool usage affects thinking ability through learning motivation, but the causality of 'computational thinking → logical thinking' was not identified.

  • With the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the importance of solving problems through computing has been emphasized, and software education to improve computational thinking as a core competency has been designated as an essential subject. In order for education for computational thinking to be effective, appropriate tools for evaluating computational thinking must be supported. While studies on computational thinking have been conducted in the meantime, there have been no systematic studies on such evaluation-related studies. This study analyzed the related studies on the computational thinking assessment conducted in Korea and analyzed the previous research of the evaluation tools, evaluation criteria, and evaluation methods. Based on this, the implications for the study of computational thinking evaluation method were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a general-purpose evaluation tool and to analyze their applicability in problem solving programming education for college students of teacher training college. For this purpose, we have redefined the area of computational thinking and detail elements from the viewpoint of problem solving programming, and developed general-purpose computational thinking scale to evaluate them. The reliability and validity were analyzed by applying the evaluation tool developed for the actual college students of teacher training college. Through this study, it was confirmed that the a general-purpose evaluation tool developed in this study can be used as a tool to computational thinking assessment and can be generalized.

  • In order to ensure that the 2015 revised curriculum is successfully settled at the field of school, there are 68 national SW schools operated by 2015 and 2016 at national level, and an inspection tool was developed to measure the effectiveness of SW education. The purpose of this study is to present the direction of the computing thinking inspection tool which can verify the effectiveness of the curriculum from 2018 through the analysis of the previously developed computing thinking inspection tool. As a result of the analysis, the validity of the ability factors to measure the problem solving process based on computing thinking was not enough. In the analysis of the item characteristics, the degree of discrimination was good, but difficulty was not enough to accurately measure the competence of students because of the high percentage of easy questions. Based on the results, this study suggested the development of the items considering the problem solving process based on the computing thinking, the application of the students' empirical knowledge, and the constitution that can confirm the flow of the thinking power with materials in the real life.

The Development of Inquiry Teaching Strategy for the Enhancement of Divergent and Convergent Thinking Skills and the Effects of Its Applications (발산하기와 수렴하기를 강화한 탐구 교수 전략의 개발 및 적용 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop teaching materials using pyramid model of divergent thinking, inverse pyramid model of convergent thinking and evaluate the effects of its applications. The teaching materials was implemented to 110 students (The experimental group is 57, The control group is 53) in middle school for about 8 months (from May to October). Results indicated that the experimental group presented statistically meaningful improvement in creative thinking skills, especially in fluency, flexibility and originality. There was no interaction effect about creative thinking skills between the teaching strategy and cognitive level, achievement, gender of those students. Also the teaching materials contributed to improve critical thinking skills, especially in making hypothesis, control of variables transformation and interpretation of data. There was no interaction effect about critical thinking skills between the teaching strategy and cognitive level, achievement, gender of those students.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose an effective teaching and learning model by investigating the influencing factors of elementary school students' interest and computational thinking in software education based on flipped learning. To accomplish the purpose of the study, we developed a software education program based on flipped learning for elementary school students and applied qualitative research based on the interviews with the students and outputs from the learning process. The results of this study, First, factors affecting interest in the elementary school students' software education based on flipped learning were 'the expectation of class', 'authentic task', 'the accomplishment of task' and 'interaction with peers'. Second, the factor of enhancing computational thinking was 'the accomplishment of task', 'interaction with peers', and 'the teacher's meaningful feedback'.
