A Research on the Digital Controller of Switched Reluctance Motor Using DSP (DSP를 이용한 Switched Reluctance Motor의 디지털 제어기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the new control strategy that can minimizes the torque ripple by considering the magnetic nonlinearity and phase torque averlapping intervals, and describes the whole SRM drive system using proposed control method implemented by DSP(Digital Signal Processor). To do this, inductance and torque are, at first, measured according to the variation of rotor position angle while current is kept constant at predetermined several values. From these measured values, the entire inductance and torque for any current and rotor position are inferred by using neural network. And the waveform of the reference phase torque is determined for the torque ripple to be minimized considering the torque overlap between phases. The controller is designed for the actual torque obtained by the inferred torque look-up table using measured current and rotor position angle to track the predetermined reference phase torque by delta modulation technique. To perform a real time processing and ensure the reliability of the controller, DSP is implemented.

  • Pneumatic motors are quite attractive for many applications because of their competitive price, light-weight, easy assembly, safety in hazardous areas as well as other features, such as a good force/weight ratio and operation in exceptionally harsh environments. In contrast to these advantages, pneumatic motors have limited use in applications, particularly those requiring a fast and precise response. These undesirable characteristics are due to the high compressibility of air and from the nonlinearities in pneumatic systems. This paper presents the sliding mode controller based on 3-loop(SMCB3L), which increases the load stiffness to control the rotation angle of a pneumatic motor. The characteristics for the step responses and load disturbances of the proposed controller were compared with the conventional PID controller. The experimental results showed that a properly designed SMCB3L is capable of high positioning accuracy within ${\pm}0.05mm$. Furthermore, the load stiffness of the SMCB3L can be improved 3.5 fold compared to that of PID controllers.

High-Speed High-Resolution Terahertz Time-Domain Spectrometer (고속 고분해 테라헤르츠 시간영역 분광기)

  • High-speed high-resolution terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is demonstrated using the asynchronous-opticalsampling (AOS) method. A time-domain signal with a 10-ns time window is rapidly acquired by using two femtosecond lasers with slightly different repetition frequencies to generate and detect a terahertz pulse wave, without a mechanical delay stage. The spectrum obtained by the fast Fourier transformation (FFT) of the time-domain waveform has a frequency resolution of 100 MHz. The time resolution of our spectrometer is measured using the cross-correlation method to be 278 fs. A transmission spectrum of water vapor is measured and the absorption lines are analyzed in the frequency range from 0.1 to 1.2 THz.

  • AC servo motor drives, Fara DS series, proposed in this paper can be effectively used in robots, CNC machine tools, and FA system with AC servo motors as actuators. The inverter of the AC servo drive consists of IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) which have high switching frequency. Noises and vibrations generated in variable speed control of AC servo motors can be greatly reduced due to their high switching frequencies. In the developed servo drive, maximum torque is always generated in the whole speed range by compensating phase shift, which results from the nonlinearies of the AC servo motor during abrupt acceleration and deceleration. Abundant protection functions are provided to prevent abnormal state of the servo motor, and furthermore diverse user options are considered provided for the effective application. The proposed AC servo motor drive is designed to minimize velocity variation with respect to external load, supply voltage, environmental temperature, and humidity, so can be widely used in the fields of factory automation including robots and CNC msachine tools.

Nano-Positioning of High-Power Ultrasonic Linear Motor Stage in High-Vacuum Environment (고진공 환경중 고출력 초음파 모터 이송 스테이지의 나노미터 위치 제어)

  • In this paper, the ultraprecision positioning control of an ultrasonic linear motor in a high-vacuum environment is presented. The bolt-clamped Langivin type transducer (BLT) with the 3rd longitudinal; and 6th lateral vibration modes was developed, which was excited by using the Eigen resonance frequency for two vibration modes in order to generate stable and high power. In practical applications, however, even if a geometrical design has an Eigen frequency, discordance between both mode frequencies can be generated by the contact mechanism and because of manufacturing errors as well as environmental factors. Both mode frequencies were precisely matched by adjusting the impedence. By using this method, the BLT can be driven under any environmental conditions. The nominal characteristic trajectory following(NCTF) control method was adopted to control the positioning of the system in vacuum. The developed linear motor stage show high positioning accuracy with 5 nm.

Design and Implement of 50MHz 10 bits DAC based on double step Thermometer Code (50MHz 2단 온도계 디코더 방식을 사용한 10 bit DAC 설계)

  • This paper reports the test results of a 50MHz/s 10 bits DAC developed with $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process for the wireless sensor network application. The 10bits DAC, not likely a typical segmented type, has been designed as a current driving type with double step thermometer decoding architecture in which 10bits are divided into 6bits of MSB and 4bits of LSB. MSB 6bits are converted into 3 bits row thermal codes and 3 bits column thermal codes to control high current cells, and LSB 4 bits are also converted into thermal codes to control the lower current cells. The high and the lower current cells use the same cell size while a bias circuit has been designed to make the amount of lower unit current become 1/16 of high unit current. All thermal codes are synchronized with output latches to prevent glitches on the output signals. The test results show that the DAC consumes 4.3mA DC current with 3.3V DC supply for 2.2Vpp output at 50MHz clock. The linearity characteristics of DAC are the maximum SFDR of 62.02dB, maximum DNL of 0.37 LSB, and maximum INL of 0.67 LSB.

Enhanced Energy Harvester Based on Vibration Analysis of Bicycle Riding (자전거 주행의 진동 분석에 기반한 에너지 수확 증진 기술 개발)

  • Bicycle has a large amount of kinetic energy available for energy harvesting technology in its speedy and balanced riding movement. Systematic and realistic analysis of its dynamic property is essential to improve the efficiency of energy harvester. However, there has not been enough researches about precise measurement or analysis of bicycle dynamics on real roads. This study aims to investigate the characteristics of vibrational movement of bicycle using MEMS-based accelerometer and to develop a prototype of electromagnetic energy harvester with nonlinear behavior which is proper to the random vibrations accompanied in bicycle riding. The vibrational components have average magnitude of 1 g and turn out to be independent of riding speed. The developed prototype of energy harvester was installed on a front port of a bicycle to use this ambient vibration and generated an average electrical power of 1.5 mW which is enough to support power for most of portable sensors and short range radio-frequency communication. Further study about isolation of vibration from a rider and conversion efficiency is ongoing. The developed energy harvester is expected to be a platform technology for sustainable portable power supply for various smart IT devices and applications.

A Design of High PSRR LDO over Wide Frequency Range without External Capacitor (외부 커패시터 없이 넓은 주파수 범위에서 높은 PSRR 갖는 LDO 설계)

  • This paper describes a high PSRR low-dropout(LDO) linear regulator for wide frequency range without output-capacitor. Owing to both of the cascode compensation technique and the current buffer compensation technique in nested Miller compensation loop, the proposed LDO not only maintaines high stability but also achieves high PSRR over wide frequency range with reasonable on-chip capacitances. Since the external capacitor is removed by the proposed compensation techniques, the cost for pad is eliminated. The designed LDO works under the input voltage range from 2.5V to 4.5V and provides up to 10mA load current with the output voltage of 1.8V. The LDO was implemented with 0.18um CMOS technology and the area is 300um X 120 um. The measured power supply rejection ratio(PSRR) is -76dB and -43dB at DC and 1MHz, respectively. The operating current is 25uA.

Responses of Burning Liquid Propellant Sprays Perturbed by Unstable Pressure Waves (불안정한 압력파동 섭동에 의한 액체추진제 분무연소 반응)

  • 액체추진제 로켓엔진 연소실에는 고유모드에 대응하는 음향파동이 내재되며 이러한 음향파동은 연소와의 상호작용을 통하여 불안정한 음향에너지를 공급받아 증폭되며 결국에는 연소불안정 상태에까지 이르게 된다. 이와 같은 불안정한 상태에 이르기 위해서는 연소로부터 되먹임되는 불안정 에너지의 양이 충분히 크고 구동 음향파동에 근접한 위상을 가져야 한다. 이와 같은 구동 메커니즘을 구성하는 상세한 물리적 현상들을 규명하고 예측하기 위한 많은 연구들이 보고되었으며, 이들 중 이론적인 시간 지연 모델을 사용하는 음향적인 방법은 매우 경제적인 반면 연소 현상에 대한 상세한 모사가 생략되어 연소 불안정의 구체적인 원인을 규명하는데 어려움이 있고, 파동 방정식에 의하여 연소실 내부의 파동 에너지 증가를 예측하는 방법은 연소기 내에서의 연소 메커니즘에 대한 고려 없이 연소에 의해 발생하는 에너지만을 포함하는 단점과 선형적인 연소 불안정에만 제한된다는 제한이 있다. 음향장과 커플된 기화반응 모델은 분무액적의 기화 과정이 추진제 연소의 지배과정이라는 가정 하에 연소응답을 기화반응으로 대체하는 방법으로, 역시 단시간 내에 결과를 얻을 수 있다는 장점이 있으나 기화반응으로부터 음향파동으로의 에너지 되먹임 과정이 배제되어 있어 정확한 결과를 구하기는 어렵다. 이에 대하여 최근에는 전산 모사적인 방법을 사용하는 대규모의 연소장 해석이 가능하여 짐으로써 음향파동에 의한 외란과 에너지 되먹임과정을 모두 포하마여 수치적인 방법을 사용하여 계산하는 액체추진제 로켓엔진의 고주파 연소불안정 해석방법들이 제시되고 있다.안정성 모드가 있음을 보였다. 밀도 변화가 있는 경우나 밀도 변화가 없는 경우 모두 sinuous 모드의 가장 불안정한 모드가 varicose 모드의 가장 불안정한 모드보다 더 불안정함을 보여주어 후류 유동은 자유 유동에 가까운 위상 속도를 가지는 sinuous 모드에 의해 지배될 것임을 예측할 수 있다. 연소반응이 완전연소에 가까울수록 그리고 압축성 효과가 클수록 유동내부의 온도가 증가하고 점성 또한 증가하여 후류유동은 안정됨을 알 수 있었다 유동변수들의 contour로부터 유동의 특성을 예측한 결과 baroclinic 항이 dilatational 항보다 상대적으로 크며, 중심선 상하에 생기는 vortex를 더욱 성장시킬 것으로 생각된다.냉각 홀의 막임, 연소 입자의 점착 부위 등을 예측하여 보완책을 준비할 수 있도록 하였다.$mm^2$sec였으며, 이는 다른 graphite/epixy 복합재의 확산계수와 유사한 값을 나타내고 있다. 또한 추진제가 충전된 연소관을 절단하여 밀폐한 후 95%RH 습도 조건에 보관함으로써 연소관 내부의 추진제 기계적 특성에 미치는 침투된 습기의 영향도 함께 고찰하였다. 추진제에 따라 차이는 있겠으나 추진제가 충전된 연소관은 순수 복합재 연소관에 비해 습기의 투과 정도가 작으며, 본 연소관에 충전된 RDX/AP계 추진제의 경우 추진제의 습기투과에 의한 추진제 물성 변화는 미미한 것으로 나타났다.의 향상으로, 음성개선에 효과적이라고 사료되었으며, 이 방법이 편측 성대마비 환자의 효과적인 음성개선의 치료방법의 하나로 응용될 수 있으리라 생각된다..

An Optical True Time-Delay for Two-Dimensional X-Band Phased Array Antennas (2차원 X-밴드 위상 배열 안테나용 광 실시간 지연선로)

  • In this paper, an optical true time-delay (TTD) for two-dimensional (2-D) phased array antennas (PAAs), composed of a multi-wavelength optical source and a fiber optic delay line matrix consisting of $2\times2$ optical switches with optical fiber connected between cross ports, has been proposed. A 2-bit $\times4-bit$ optical TTD for 10-GHz 2-D PAAs has been implemented by cascading a wavelength dependent TTD (WD-TTD) and a wavelength independent TTD (WI-TTD). The unit time delay for WD-TTD and WI-TTD have been chosen as ${\Delta}T=12ps$ and $\Delta\tau=6ps$, respectively. Time delay have been measured at all radiation angles. The maximum delay error for WD-TTD was measured to be 3 ps due to jitter incurred from gain switching. For the case of WI-TTD, error was within ${\pm}\;1\;ps$. The proposed optical TTD for a 2-D PAA has the following advantages: 1) higher gain compared to one-dimensional linear PAAs, 2) stabilization of optical power and wavelength by using a multi-wavelength optical source, and 3) fast beam scan and simple operation due to electronic control of the $2\times2$ optical switches matrix on a column-by-column basis.
