Effects of Various Ventilation Systems on the Carbon Dioxide Concentration and Fruiting Body Formation of King Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii) Grown in Culture Bottles (새송이버섯 병재배에서 환기방법이 이산화탄소 농도 및 자실체형성에 미치는 영향)

  • In an attempt to establish the appropriate ventilation device for the bottle culture of king oyster mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii), we investigated carbon dioxide concentration and fruiting body formation according to the various ventilation systems within the mushroom house. In addition to, the efficiency of air circulation and growth rate as well as the appearance of physiologically abnormal phenotypes during their growth stage were also evaluated. four different ventilation devices, parallel-pressure type, positive-pressure type, negative-pressure type, and positive- and negative-pressure type were applied in this study. The positive-and negative-pressure type showed the highest efficiency of air circulation as $CO_2$ concentration was 800 ppm and the level of air current was relatively low compared to the other types (the $CO_2$ concentration of parallel-pressure type was 1,400 ppm). Moreover, the stipe length, the cap diameter, yield, and general quality grown in positive- and negative type ventilation device were also better than in the other three devices though it took slightly longer period for harvesting (18.4 days) than the others (17.6, 17.9 and 18.3 days). The appearance of physiologically abnormal phenotypes such as fruiting body lump, soft rot, and brown rot were significantly decreased in positive-and negative type compared to other types, while the appearance rates were not much different for other symptoms of bacterial ooze, stipe limb and stipe bumpy. In summary, we propose that the optimal ventilation system for the bottle culture of king oyster mushroom is positive- and negative type, and this device is expected to increase the total quality as well as yield all year around.

Effect of the Whisker Amount and Orientation on Mechanical Properties of the Si$_3$N$_4$ based Composites (Si$_3$N$_4$ Whisker의 첨가량과 배열방향이 Si$_3$N$_4$ 복합 소결체의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Gas pressure sintered silicon nitride based composites with 0~5wt% $\beta$-Si3N4 whiskers were prepared. The whiskers were unidirectionally oriented by a modified tape casting technqiue and green bodies with various microstructure were formed by changing stacking sequences of sheets cut from the tape. Orientations of the large elongated grains of the sample after gas pressure sintering were the same as the those of the whiskers of green body, and the sintering shrinkage and mechanical properties of sintered sample were consistent with the microstructural characteristics. In case of unidirectional samples, the sintering shrinkage normal to whisker alignment direction was larger than that parallel to the direction. The shrinkage difference inceaed as the whiskercontent increaed. As whisker content increaed, the crack length normal to and parallel to tape casting direction became shorter and larger, respectively. Although the grain size increased by th whisker addition, the flexural strength of unidirectional samples was not lower than that of smaple without the whisker. In case of crossplied and 45$^{\circ}$rotated samples, the anisotropy of mechanical preoperties disappeared.

  • 터빈 블레이드와 같이 회전하는 구조물의 파단은 공진 근처에서 진동이 발 생할 때에 이에 기인하는 피로에 의하여 발생한다. 그러므로 이와 같은 파단 을 피하기 위해서는 설계 단계에서 이론적인 계산에 의하여 구조물의 고유 진동수를 결정하는 것이 상당히 중요하다. 판이 회전을 받게 되면 원심력에 의하여 판의 강성이 증가하므로 고유진동수가 회전하지 않는 판의 고유진동 수보다는 상당히 증가하게 된다. 이에 대한 연구가 국내외에서 상당수 행하 여졌지만, 연구의 대부분이 회전의 영향을 고려하지 않은 정지판(stationary plate)에 대한 것이며 뢰전을 고려한 연구는 극히 제한되어 있다. 또한 회전 의 영향을 고려한 연구의 대부분이 해석 대상을 보로서 단순화 시켰고 해법 으로는 유한요소법과 Ritz법 등을 사용하였다. 이는 블레이드가 지니고 있는 기하학적인 형상과 진동 특성이 해석적인 방법으로 해결하는 데에는 상당한 어려움이 있기 때문이다. 실제적으로는 터빈 블레이드와 같은 회전체의 진동 특성이 설치각이나 비틀림각, 판의 형상비, 회전속도 등의 변화에 의하여 영 향을 받기 때문에 보와 같은 진동 거동을 보이기보다는 판이나 셀과 같은 진동 거동을 보이므로 보다 정확한 해석을 수행하기 위해서는 해석 대상을 판이나 셀로서 취급하는 것이 타당하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 이 유 때문에 해석 대상을 등방성 사각판과 직교이방성 복합재료 사각판으로 선택하였으며, 구조물의 고유진동수에 영향을 미치는 다음과 같은 인자들을 해석에 고려하였다. 1. 회전속도 (rotational speed) 2. 설치각 (setting angle) 3. 허브의 반경 (hub radius) 4. 판의 형상비 (aspect ratio) 5. 적층순서 (stacking sequence)구조물에 대한 동적실험(dynamic test)을 통하여 단기간에 동적특성을 결정하고 SDM(structure dynamic modification)이나 FRS(force response simulation)를 수행하여 임의의 좌표 공간에 대한 진동수준을 해석적으로 예측할 뿐만 아니라 구조물의 진동제어 를 위한 동적인자를 변경시킬 수 있는 정보를 제공하며 장비를 방진할 경우 신뢰성 있는 전달률을 결정할 수 있다. 실험적으로 철교, 교량이나 건물의 철골구조 및 2층 바닥 등 대,중형의 복잡한 구조물에 대항 동특성을 나타내 는 모빌리티를 결정할 경우 충격 가진 실험이 사용되는 실험장비 측면에서 나 실험을 수행하는 과정이 대체적으로 간편하다. 그러나 이 경우 대상 구조 물을 충분히 가진시킬수 있는 용량의 대형 충격기(large impact hammer)가 필요하게 된다. 이러한 동적실험은 약 길이 61m, 폭 16m의 4경간 교량에 대 하여 동적실험을 수행하여 가능성을 확인하였다. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. Study on Vibration Characteristics in Terms of Airfoil Cross-Sectional Shape by using Co-Rotational Plane Beam Transient Analysis (Co-Rotational 보의 과도상태해석을 이용한 에어포일 단면 형상 변화에 따른 진동특성 연구)

  • In this paper, vibration characteristics in terms of the airfoil cross-sectional shape was examined by using the EDISON co-rotational plane beam-transient analysis. Co-Rotational plane beam analysis is appropriate for large rotation and small strain. Assuming aircraft wing as a cantilevered beam, natural frequencies of each airfoil cross-sectional shape were estimated using VABS program and fast Fourier transformation(FFT). VABS conducts finite element analysis on the cross-section including the detailed geometry and material distribution to estimate the beam sectional properties. Under the same airfoil geometric configuration and material selection, variation of material induced difference in the deflection and natural frequencies. It was observed that variation of the natural frequency was dependent on variation of the airfoil shape and material.

  • V-I characteristics of Fe(100)/MgO(100)/Cu-phthalocyanine (CuPc)/Co hybrid magnetic tunnel junctions were investigated at different temperatures. Fe(100) and Co ferromagnetic layers were separated by an organic-inorganic hybrid barrier consisting of different thickness of CuPc thin film grown on a 2 nm thick epitaxial MgO(100) layer. As the CuPc thickness increases from 0 to 10 nm, a bistable switching behavior due to strong charging effects was observed, while a very large magenetoresistance was shown at 77 K for the junctions without the CuPc barrier. This switching behavior decreases with the increase in temperature, and finally disappears beyond 240 K. In this work, high-potential future applications of the MgO(100)/CuPc bilayer were discussed for hybrid spintronic devices as well as polymer random access memories (PoRAMs).

  • In this study, damaged composite laminates were repaired by a stepped patch repair method using halloysite nanotube(HNT) and milled carbon(MC) reinforced composite materials with different amount of the particles. And the mechanical and structural effects of the particles on the interface between the damaged and repair surfaces were analyzed. At this time, after exposing them to a harsh environment of high temperature and humidity for a long time, the recovery rate of the material properties relative to the material forming the damaged plate was compared. As a result, at $70^{\circ}C$ high temperature distilled water, the hygroscopicity of the HNT/GFRP composites was significantly different from that of the MC/GFRP composites. Especially, 0.5, 1 wt. % HNT was added, the moisture absorption rate was the lowest and this was the factor that contributed to the mechanical strength increase. On the other hand, MC showed a high hygroscopic resistance only with a small amount, and the strength was different according to the action direction of the load, and the addition amount was also different.

  • Small size polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) stacks were prepared using carbon composite and graphite bipolar plates and their performances were evaluated on reactant gas and operating time. In comparison to single cell and stack, it was identified that home-made bipolar plate was well-designed to maximize stack performance as high as that of single cell. During long-term operation, the performances of stacks using two different kinds of bipolar plates were compared. The decrease of performance in both stacks was accelerated with increasing load current. It was observed from stack test that the stack performance using carbon composite bipolar plate was very similar to that using graphite bipolar plate.

  • In this paper, a composite stiffened panel was fabricated using a three-dimensional weaving method that can reduce the risk of delamination, and mechanical properties such as buckling load and natural frequency were investigated. The preform of the stringer and skin of the stiffened panel were fabricated in one piece using T800 grade carbon fiber and then, resin (EP2400) was injected into the preform. The compression test and natural frequency measurement were performed for the stiffened panel, and the results were compared with the finite element analyses. In order to compare the performance of 3D weaving structures, the stiffened panels with the same configuration were fabricated using UD and 2D plain weave (fabric) prepregs. Compared to the tested buckling load of the 3D woven panel, the buckling loads of the stiffened panels of UD prepreg and 2D plain weave exhibited +20% and -3% differences, respectively. From this study, it was confirmed that the buckling load of the stiffened panel manufactured by 3D weaving method was lower than that of the UD prepreg panel, but showed a slightly higher value than that of the 2D plain weave panel.

Experimental Investigation on the Behaviour of CFRP Laminated Composites under Impact and Compression After Impact (CAI) (충격시 CFRP 복합재 판의 거동과 충격후 압축강도에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The importance of understanding the response of structural composites to impact and CAI cannot be overstated to develop analytical models for impact damage and CAI strength predictions. This paper presents experimental findings observed from quasi-static lateral load tests, low velocity impact tests. CAI strength and open hole compressive strength tests using 3 mm thick composite plates($[45/-45/0/90]_{3s}$- IM7/8552). The conclusion is drawn that damage areas for both quasi-static lateral load and impact tests are similar and the curves of several drop weight impacts with varying energy levels(between 5.4 J and 18.7 J) follow the static curve well. In addition, at a given energy the peak force is in good agreement between the static and impact cases. It is identified that the failure behaviour of the specimens from the CAI strength tests was very similar to that observed in laminated plates with open holes under compression loading. The residual strengths art: in good agreement with the measured open hole compressive strengths. considering the impact damage site area, an equivalent hole. The experimental findings suggest that simple analytical models for the prediction of impact damage area and CAI strength can be developed on the basis of the failure mechanism observed from the experimental tests.

Energy Based Source Location by Using Acoustic Emission for Damage Detection in Steel and Composite CNG Tank (금속 및 복합재 CNG 탱크에서의 손상 검출을 위한 음향방출 에너지 기반 위치표정 기술)

  • Acoustic emission (AE) is an effective nondestructive test that uses transient elastic wave generated by the rapid release of energy within a material to detect any further growth or expansion of existing defects. Over the past decades, because of environmental issues, the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as an alternative fuel for vehicles is increasing because of environmental issues. For this reason, the importance and necessity of detecting defects on a CNG fuel tank has also come to the fore. The conventional AE method used for source location is highly affected by the wave speed on the structure, and this creates problems in inspecting a composite CNG fuel tank. Because the speed and dispersion characteristics of the wave are different according to direction of structure and laminated layers. In this study, both the conventional AE method and the energy based contour map method were used for source location. This new method based on pre-acquired D/B was used for overcoming the limitation of damage localization in a composite CNG fuel tank specimen which consists of a steel liner cylinder overwrapped by GFRP. From the experimental results, it is observed that the damage localization is determined with a small error at all tested points by using the energy based contour map method, while there were a number of mis-locations or large errors at many tested points by using the conventional AE method. Therefore, the energy based contour map method used in this work is more suitable technology for inspecting composite structures.
