In this study, a numerical simulation was developed which was capable of predicting the characteristics of NO formation in pilot scale combustor adopting the air-staged burner flame. The numerical calculation was constructed by means of establishing the mathematical models fur turbulence, turbulent combustion, radiation and turbulent nitric oxide chemistry. Turbulence was solved with standard k-$\xi$ model and the turbulent combustion model was incorporated using a two step reaction scheme together with an eddy dissipation model. The radiative transfer equation was calculated by means of the discrete ordinates method with the weighted sum of gray gases model for CO$_2$and H$_2$O. In the NO chemistry model, the chemical reaction rates for thermal and prompt NO were statistically averaged using the $\beta$ probability density function. The results were validated by comparison with measurements. For the experiment, a 0.2 MW pilot multi-air staged burner has been designed and fabricated. Only when the radiation was taken into account, the predicted gas temperature was in good agreement with the experimental one, which meant that the inclusion of radiation was indispensable for modeling multi-air staged gas flame. This was also true of the prediction of the NO formation, since it heavily depended on temperature. Subsequently, it was found that the multi-air staged combustion technique might be used as a practical tool in reducing the NO formation by controlling the peak flame temperature.

There is considerable interest in developing energy sources capable of larger power densities. In our previous works, we proved that by coupling an exothermic chemical reaction with 1D nanostructures, a self-propagating reactive wave can be driven along its length with a concomitant electrical pulse of high specific power, which we identified as a thermopower wave. Herein, we discuss details about many different aspects of a thermopower wave. Different alignment degree in vertically aligned CNT films is evaluated in the reactive wave speed and correlated with its thermal reaction that affects the change in the magnitude of energy generation. The effects of the temperature-dependent properties of chemical fuels and CNTs are evaluated. Furthermore, we explore the convection and radiation portions in this thermal wave as well as the synchronization between the thermal reaction transfer and the oscillation of the electrical signal.
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were commercially produced as complex mixtures beginning in 1929. The PCBs manufactured commercially are known by a variety of trade names including; Aroclor (USA), Phenoclor (France), Kaneclor (Japan), Sovol (USSR) and so on. PCBs are a class of 209 congeners that were widely used in a wide variety of applications, including dielectric fluid in transformers and large capacitors; heat transfer fluids; hydraulic fluids; lubricating and cutting oils; and as additives in pesticides, paints, adhesives, sealants, and plastics. The quantification methods of peak matching and coefficient comparison were compared using the Aroclor 1242, 1248, 1254, 1260 standards. Also, six transformer oils were analyzed as a main source of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) emission into the environment. The transformer oils contained the pure and mixed of Aroclor 1242, Aroclor 1254, and Aroclor 1260. The analytical results using two quantification methods showed the little difference between the measured results.

Recently, one of the most outstanding technological characteristics of aerial survey is an application of Direct Georeferencing, which is based on the integration of main sensing sensors such as aerial camera or Lidar with positioning sensors GPS and IMU. In addition, a variety of digital aerial mapping cameras is developed and supplied with the verification of their technical superiority and applicability. In accordance with this requirement, the development of a multi-looking aerial photographing system is just making 3-D information acquisition and texture mapping possible for the dead areas arising from building side and high terrain variation where the use of traditional phptogrammetry is not valid. However, the development of a multi-looking camera integrating different sensors and multi-camera array causes some problems to conduct time synchronization among sensors and their geometric and radiometric calibration. The establishment of a test field for aerial sensor calibration is absolutely necessary to solve this problem. Therefore, this paper describes investigations for photogrammetric Test Field of foreign countries and suggest an establishment scheme for domestic test field.

In this paper, the electromagnetic wave transmission through a ridge-loaded small circular aperture is considered. The transmission problem when a plane wave is normally incident on the aperture in an infinite conducting plane is solved by a method of moments(MoM). From the results for the transmitted power and the patterns of radiation from the aperture, the transmission characteristics of a small sub-wavelength circular aperture, a ridge-loaded circular aperture, and a half wavelength slot are compared. In addition, the theoretical study is verified through the experiments for the apertures fabricated on an Flexible Printed Circuit Board(FPCB), which shows fairly good agreements with the simulated results.
We calculated 3D frequency- and Laplace-domain wavefields using time-domain modeling and Fourier transform or Laplace transform. We adopted OpenACC and GPU for an efficient parallel calculation. The OpenACC makes it easy to use GPU accelerators by adding directives in conventional C, C++, and Fortran programming languages. Accordingly, one doesn't have to learn new GPGPU programming languages such as CUDA or OpenCL to use GPU. An OpenACC program allocates GPU memory, transfers data between the host CPU and GPU devices and performs GPU operations automatically or following user-defined directives. We compared performance of 3D wave propagation modeling programs using OpenACC and GPU to that using single-core CPU through numerical tests. Results using a homogeneous model and the SEG/EAGE salt model show that the OpenACC programs are approximately 53 and 30 times faster than those using single-core CPU.

A rigorous modeling of ultra-low energy implantation is becoming increasingly more important as devices shrink to deep submicron dimensions. In this paper, we have developed an efficient three-dimensional Monte Carlo ion implantation model based on a modified Binary Collision Approximation(BCA). To this purpose, the modified electronic stopping model and the multi-body collision model have been taken into account in this simulator. The dopant and damage profiles show very good agreement with SIMS(Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy) data and RBS(Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy) data, respectively. Moreover, the ion distribution replica method has been implemented into the model to get a computational efficiency in a 3D simulation, and we have calculated the 3D Monte Carlo simulation into the topographically complex structure.

In this paper, characteristics of the wide band microstrip antennas with parasistic element are analyzed by the Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method, and antenna parameters are optimized to get maximum bandwidth, retern loss, input impedance, and radiation pattern are calculated by Founier transforming the time domain results. The characteristics of the antenna are varied and the bandwidth of the antenna is broaded as a length and a width of the driven element, a gap of the driven element and the parasitic element, a width and a length of parasitic element. So the different patchs are resonating at different frequencies and this multipule resonance increase the bandwidth. The Results of the calculation and measurement, the size of the antenna with parasitic element is about a twice larger than a microstrip antenna, but bandwidth is four times better than a microstrip antenna. And these results were in relatively good accordance with the measured values.

Array error analysis and correction of active array antenna are described in this paper. Array elements composed of radiator and TR(Transmit & Recive) module have error(magnitude and phase difference among array elements) which affects SLL(Side Lobe Level). Error affectedness level depends on ideal SLL according to antenna aperture weighting, number of array elements and antenna effective aperture. To satisfy required SLL, correction of array elements is necessary; adopted differently per errors, and weighted differently per shapes of antenna and required SLL. Errors of every individual element had been defined, performance of the antenna with or without error correction had been estimated and proved through near field test.

This paper analyzes the effect of metal dummy structures in CMOS on antenna performances of a sub-terahertz on-chip microstrip patch antenna. A 400-GHz on-chip antenna is designed in a 45-nm CMOS process, and the resonance frequency and efficiency of the antenna are analyzed depending on the density of metal dummy structures. Antennas integrated with an oscillator are designed and fabricated for verification, and measurements are performed using quasi-optical methods with an FTIR and bolometer. The measurement results shows that the radiated power drops from 420 nW to 90 nW by 6.8 dB due to the dummy structures with the density of 27 %.
