The participants of the study were first and second graders in B elementary school in J city. They were observed in unsuitable behavioral patterns in school life by their homeroom teachers. Fifteen participants were divided into control and experimental group: The control group was eight and the experimental group was seven. Group music therapy was conducted two times a week for seven-week period. It took 35-40 minutes per therapy after school. Child Behavior Checklist-Korean, Social Skills Rating System, Social Acceptance were administered in pre- and post-stages. For the analysis of the data, Mann-Whitney U test was used. The findings from the research are summarized as follows: 1) The experimental group who was treated in music therapy showed a positive effect on problem behaviors. That is to say, the participants in the experimental group improved in emotional and cognitive stability while they significantly decreased attack behaviors; 2) The experimental group statistically showed significant improvement in their social behaviors compared to the control group. The music therapy group significantly increased social skills such as cooperation, self-assertion, and self-control. However, they did not improve responsibility as social skills in a significant manner; and 3) The experimental group showed higher degree of social acceptance than the control group. However, the result did not show a significant difference between the groups. In conclusion, the study proved positive effects of music therapy on ADHD children's uncarefulness, attack behaviors, and social skills for seven-week experimental period.

  • The present study examined the effects of science activities motivated through children's songs on young children's science-related attitudes, and understanding of science processing. skills. The subjects of the present study were 40 children aged five, among them 20 children being assigned into an experimental group, and 20 children into a control group. An Hyun-Jeong's(2011). 'The Test of Science-Related Attitudes' and science process skills measurement questions from 'The Science Learning Assessment' by Samarapungavan, Mantzicopoulos, Patrick, and French (2009) were used after adapting them as research tools. The experimental group performed science activities motivated through children's songs 21 times, 3 times a week for 7 weeks; learning children's songs and asking science questions at the first stage, performing science activities at the second stage, and adapting children's songs based on the findings of science activities. The control group performed the learning of children's songs, science activities, and rhythmic activities in the same period. The pre- and post-test data were analyzed as at-test using SPSS program. The study results indicated that science activities motivated through children's songs were effective in improving young children's science-related attitudes and their understanding of science process skills.

  • This study aimed to figure out the factors affecting the self-esteem of children. For this purpose, 296 fosterers (those who use the children education institutions) were targeted to analyze the factors affecting the self-esteem of children. The factors can be categorized as the personal internal factors (problematic behavior and self-control capability of the children) and the environmental factors (parenting efficacy and parenting stress of the fosterers). As a result, self-assessment, depression, emotionality, and behavioral restriction factors of the children and child-rearing efficacy, and the child-rearing stress of the fosterers were proven to be influential; these two factors have 50.5% of the explanation power. In conclusion, if self-assessment, emotionality, and behavioral control of the children and rearing efficacy of the fosterers were high, self-esteem of the children was increased. However, if depression of the children and rearing stress of the fosterers were high, self-esteem of the children was decreased. This result suggests a need of program development and a new teaching method to reduce problematic behavior of the children and rearing stress of the fosterers, as well as to enhance rearing efficacy of the fosterers and self-control capability of the children for the purpose to increase self-esteem of the children.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of SNS use by prospective early childhood teachers in PBL class on flow and problem-solving skills. For this purpose, the PBL class was conducted for eight weeks with 44 prospective students in the early childhood social studies course, and measured the classroom situation in terms of usefulness of SNS, flow, and problem-solving skills by using a cognitive test. To analyze the measured values, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, and correlation analysis were performed. Also, to verify the hypotheses set in this study, structural equation modeling was used based on AMOS. The result is as follows: First, in PBL-based class, use of SNS had a positive effect on flow. Second, flow had a direct influence on problem-solving skills. Third, however, use of SNS did not have a direct influence on problem-solving skills and, therefore, flow plays a mediating role for problem-solving skills. Based on the result, in the study, it was found that the use of SNS in PBL class can increase interest, motivation, and participation of students and they then become more willing to contribute to class activities.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the relative effects of young children's mathematical abilities and scientific abilities on intelligence. Methods: The object of this study is 100 five or six-years-old children in a kindergarten of S district in S city. I conducted analysis of partial correlation after controlled young children's age and sex to examine correlation between young children's mathematical abilities, scientific abilities and intelligence, also I used stepwise multiple regression analysis for inspecting the relative effects of young children's mathematical abilities and scientific abilities on intelligence. Results: Young children's intelligence is relative with mathematical abilities and scientific abilities, this relation is higher in 'measurement' and 'algebra' factors of mathematical abilities and 'predicting' factor of scientific abilities. Mathematical abilities bigger impact to the relative effects on young children's intelligence. Conclusion/Implications: On this, it is necessary that evenly providing the math and science activities in early childhood education field and home, and we have to consider the integrations of the process when provide the math and science integrated activities. This study has the significance to use basic line data when people plan the integrated math-science activities and develop program associated those by finding the relationship between mathematical abilities, scientific abilities and intelligence and evaluating the relative effects on intelligence.

Accordingly, a survey was conducted targeting 267 college students attending universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions. For data analysis, the SPSS 21 program was used to check the general characteristics of the survey subjects, the mean, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis of the main variables. Correlation analysis was performed to check multicollinearity among the main variables, and mediation effects were examined. For this purpose, regression analysis was conducted according to the three-step verification method proposed by Barron and Kenny. The results of this study were as follows. First, college students' sense of community was found to have a significant impact on their psychological well-being. Second, the sense of community perceived by college students was found to have a significant impact on emotional intelligence. Third, emotional intelligence was found to have a significant impact on psychological well-being. Lastly, emotional intelligence was confirmed to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between college students' sense of community and psychological well-being. Lastly, emotional intelligence was confirmed to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between college students' sense of community and psychological well-being. Accordingly, we strive to find and implement various ways to increase the sense of community that is closely related to the emotional intelligence skills and social participation of college students in the special situation of college, so that college students can form and sustain a happier and more satisfying life.
