Total polyphenol content and biological activities of water and methanol extract from Aronia melanocarpa berry, leaf, stem and twig were analyzed to investigate the potential for a bio-functional material. The polyphenol content of leaf and twig extracts were higher than those of berry and stem extracts. DPPH radical and ABTS radical scavenging activities of both extracts, were measured in order of twig, leaf, berry and stem. Tyrosinase inhibitory activities of water extract were measured in order of berry, leaf, twig and stem. Those of methanol extract were measured in order of twig, leaf, berry and stem. The nitrite-scavenging ability of water and methanol extract were measured in order of berry, leaf, twig and stem. Consequently it was shown that the non-edible parts of aronia, leaf and twig, had antioxidant activities and nitric oxide scavenging activities. It is expected that these materials could be used as functional bio-materials in bio-health care products including cosmetic products.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of contact type textile electrode structure on heart activity signal acquisition for smart healthcare. In this study, we devised six contact type textile electrodes whose electrode size and configuration were manipulated for measuring heart activity signals using computerized embroidery. We detected heart activity signals using a modified lead II and by attaching each textile electrode to the chest band in four healthy male subjects in a standing static posture. We measured the signals four times repeatedly for all types of electrodes. The heart activity signals were sampled at 1 kHz using a BIOPAC ECG100, and the detected original signals were filtered through a band-pass filter. To compare the performance of heart activity signal acquisition among the different structures of the textile electrodes, we conducted a qualitative analysis using signal waveform and size as parameters. In addition, we performed a quantitative analysis by calculating signal power ratio (SPR) of the heart activity signals obtained through each electrode. We analyzed differences in the performance of heart activity signal acquisition of the six electrodes by performing difference and post-hoc tests using nonparametric statistic methods on the calculated SPR. The results showed a significant difference both in terms of qualitative and quantitative aspects of heart activity signals among the tested contact type textile electrodes. Regarding the configurations of the contact type textile electrodes, the three-dimensionally inflated electrode (3DIE) was found to obtain better quality signals than the flat electrode. However, regarding the electrode size, no significant difference was found in performance of heart signal acquisition for the three electrode sizes. These results suggest that the configuration method (flat/3DIE), which is one of the two requirements of a contact type textile electrode structure for heart activity signal acquisition, has a critical effect on the performance of heart activity signal acquisition for wearable healthcare. Based on the results of this study, we plan to develop a smart clothing technology that can monitor high-quality heart activity without time and space constraints by implementing a clothing platform integrated with the textile electrode and developing a performance improvement plan.

This paper proposes the RDMS(Rough Set Theory based Disease Monitoring System) which efficiently manages diseases in Healthcare System. The RDMS is made up of DCM(Data Collection Module), RDRGM(RST based Disease Rules Generation Module), and HMM(Healthcare Monitoring Module). The DCM collects bio-metric informations from bio sensor of patient and stores it in RDMS DB according to the processing procedure of data. The RDRGM generates disease rules using the core of RST and the support of attributes. The HMM predicts a patient's disease by analyzing not only the risk quotient but also that of complications on the patient's disease by using the collected patient's information by DCM and transfers a visualized patient's information to a patient, a family doctor, etc according to a patient's risk quotient. Also the HMM predicts the patient's disease by comparing and analyzing a patient's medical information, a current patient's health condition, and a patient's family history according to the rules generated by RDRGM and can provide the Patient-Customized Medical Service and the medical information with the prediction result rapidly and reliably.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (M. tuberculosis complex) is a causative agent of contagious chronic disease in a wide range of mammalian hosts, mainly cattle, goat, pigs, wildlife, and humans. The definite diagnosis of tuberculosis is made based on culture of M. tuberculosis, but it takes a long time. In the present study, we analyzed whether the detection time of M. tuberculosis could be reduced when cultured in the medium containing the culture-promoting ingredients-107 (CPI-107) using the BacT/Alert 3D system, an automatic culture system. The time to detection (TTD) tended to decrease as the added concentration of CPI-107 increase. In the case of low numbers of M. tuberculosis, it decreased by 21.0% at 1.2 mg/mL of CPI-107 and by 15.9% in the case of high numbers of M. tuberculosis. In the culture using clinically isolated M. tuberculosis strains, the shortening of the culture time by CPI was more evident. In conclusion, the detection time of M. tuberculosis was shortened in the medium added with CPI-107, and this could be used for isolation, culture and drug susceptibility test of M. tuberculosis.
As the recent advanced in BIO signal measurement technology, our computing platform is rapidly shifting from desktop PCs to Embedded System. Therefore, In this paper introduces an implementation of the same precision as a hospitan ECG system on the Android. The most important fact of the hospital system is connectivity among the PC such as separate means of communication, we can eliminate the separate means of communication through the Porting Embedded System on Android that can be receive ECG signal directly. We also implementation ECG App on Android that can analyze and show the data result directly.

Mobile Application Rating Scale and seven essay questionnaire were used to for usability evaluation among 22 undergraduate nursing students. The score of the information domain was the highest with 4.19(SD 0.79). The subjective quality domain showed the lowest score of 3.08(SD 0.87). Participants' performance confidence score was 8.23(SD 1.60), and learning satisfaction score was 7.89(SD 0.87). Participants reported that the convenience and repetitive self-learning were the strengths of the app. In addition, design and technical supplementation, and lecturer-feedback would improve effectiveness of the current educational app. Findings of this convergent study would be helpful to promote the application of mobile apps for effective self-learning of core nursing skills in undergraduate nursing education. Future resesarch is needed to examine effectiveness study of mobile app on the performance of core nursing skills.
In this study, we have investigated the effect of photobiomodulation (PBM) on corneal wound healing, using a low-power light-emitting diode (LED) at different wavelengths. We found that LEDs with wavelengths ranging from 623 to 940 nm had no significant cytotoxic effects on corneal epithelial cells. The effect of PBM on promoting cell migration was analyzed by scratch assay, and it was found that PBM at 623 nm significantly increased cell migration and promoted wound healing. Furthermore, the expression of genes related to cell migration and wound healing was analyzed, and it was found that PBM at 623 nm upregulated the expression of the genes FGF-1 and MMP2, which are known to promote cell proliferation and extracellular matrix degradation. These findings suggest that PBM with low-powered light at specific wavelengths, particularly 623 nm, could be utilized to treat corneal injury.

The study aims to understand the impact the consumption value changed by COVID-19 has on the purchasing behavior of industry foodservices dietitians and to provide baseline data in setting the marketing strategies for the food materials distribution companies in the future. The main survey was conducted for eight days from May 13th to 20th 2021 and 260 copies were collected and analyzed. Through the results of the study, the following conclusion elicited. First, consumption values that impact purchasing behaviors of industry foodservices dietitians are functional value and situational value. Second, for dietitians working at directly managed foodservice establishments, the higher the functional value of the food materials is, the higher the purchasing behavior. But such correlation was not found in the case of dietitians at consignment establishments. Third, compared to before and after COVID-19, the importance of functional value of food materials decreased, while the importance of situational value increased. Therefore, it is assumed that establishing marketing strategies differentiated by direct and consignment management will contribute to the energetic sales of the food material companies in the era of post COVID-19.
Recent developments in IT have made real-time ECG monitoring possible, and this represents a promising application for the emerging HL7 standard for the exchange of clinical information. However, applying the HL7 standard directly to real-time ECG monitoring causes problems, because the partial duplication of data within an HL7 message increases the amount of data to be transmitted, and the time taken to process it. We reduce these overheads by Feature Scaling, by standardizing the range of independent variables or features of data, while nevertheless generating HL7-compliant messages. We also use a De-Duplication algorithm to eliminate the partial repetition of the OBX field in an HL7 ORU message. Our strategy shortens the time required to create messages by 51%, and reduces the size of messages by 1/8, compared to naive HL7 coding.
