  • This study was to examine the mediating role of high school students' teacher justice experience and their emotional relationship with teachers in the links between belief in a just world and school engagements, along with gender differences. The participants were 383 high school students in Seoul, Korea. The results showed that the more the students believed in a just world, the more they engaged in school life. In addition, the effect of belief in a just world on teacher-student relationship was fully mediated by teacher justice experience, and teacher-student relationship also mediated association between teacher justice experience and school engagement. In particular, for female students(N=213), the belief in a just world had both direct and indirect effect on school engagement mediated by students' experience of teacher justice and their relationship with teachers in order. On the other hand, for male students(N=168), the influence of belief in a just world on school engagement was fully mediated by teacher justice experience and teacher-student relationship in sequence. The results that belief in a just world had different path to school engagement by gender could be helpful to understand beneficial effect of belief in a just world in educational context.

  • Retearches on epistemology for artificial intelligence have started quite recently.Recently,Konolige made a contribution to epistemology by proposing a deduction model based on an efficieit modal logic for a proof mechanism for belief. In this thesis,a unified and generalized proof mechanism for the epistemic logic using a formal system called a View is pesented. In addition, the algorithm to adapt the theorem prover according to the given rule schema, which charncterizes the deduction model of the epistemic logic,is constructed. With this algorlthm, multiple agents having different rule schemas can co-exist in the proposed system. The soundness and completeness of the proposed proof mechanism is proved and a simple theorem prover is implemented to demonstrate the usefulness and practilcality.

  • This paper concerns several versions of conditionalization. In particular, I will examine the relationship between Jeffrey conditionalization and the second order conditionalization concerning updating higher order credences. In section 2, I suggest explicitly what Jeffrey conditionalization and the second order conditionalization are. I will argue in section 3 that Jeffrey conditionalization conflicts with van Fraassen's Reflection Principle while the second order conditionalization doesn't. And I will also argue in section 4 that under some situations, Jeffrey conditionalization may lead agents to Moorean absurdity while the second conditionalization may not. As a result, I will claim that Jeffrey conditionalization is better than the second order contionalization at updating our higher order credences.

  • In his recent three papers, Joohan Lee defends the following three theses. First, an ordinary term 'believes' is polysemous in that it can refer to three different types of mental attitudes; that is, it can refer to a belief as an involuntary mental disposition, or a pragmatic acceptance as a voluntary mental action, or an epistemic acceptance as a different voluntary mental action. Second, a person's pragmatic acceptance of a proposition is his voluntary mental action which takes it to be true for pragmatic reasons, despite the fact that there is no adequate epistemic evidence for the proposition, whereas a person's epistemic acceptance of a proposition is his voluntary mental action which takes it to be true for epistemic reasons, despite the fact that there is a pragmatic reason to the contrary. Third, mental attitudes to which epistemic norms apply are epistemic acceptances as voluntary mental actions, rather than beliefs as involuntary mental dispositions. If these theses are correct, then they will have important implications for contemporary epistemology. In this paper, however, I argue that Joohan Lee is not successful in defending these theses.

  • We have many causal beliefs, and they play an important role in our decision making. Unlike evidential decision theory, causal decision theory claims that an account of rational choice must use causal beliefs to identify the considerations that make a choice rational. I claim that evidential decision theory is refuted by the original Newcomb's problem but not by the medical Newcomb problem. The latter is taken to be the best example to point out the weakness of evidential decision theory. However, by the explicit statement about causal relations, I argue that the medical Newcomb problem loses its strength in refuting evidential decision theory. With this argument, this paper clarifies the difference between evidential decision theory and causal decision theory.

  • We applied fMRI to examine brain activation during false-belief task in Korean healthy adults. In the first experiment, brain areas including bilateral precuneus, temoporo-parietal junction, left inferior parietal lobule, posterior cingulate, middle frontal gyrus were found during first -order false-belief task. In the second experiment, the left middle frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus and right precuneus, middle frontal gyrus, temoporo-parietal junction were activated during second-order false-belief task. These results are compatible with the suggestions that the ways in which adults understand theory of mind stories are universal.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the levels of life satisfaction, stress, belief in a just world, anger expression and to find factors influencing anger expression. Data were collected from September 3 to October 10, 2017 using questionnaires. The participants were 272. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 24.0 program. The results of this study were as follows: the mean score of life satisfaction was $14.75{\pm}4.51$, stress was $27.30{\pm}5.15$, and belief in a just world was $25.17{\pm}6.93$ and anger expression was $26.57{\pm}9.16$. There was a negative correlation between anger expression and life satisfaction, and belief in a just world, while there was a positive correlation between anger expression and stress. Factors influencing anger expression were sex, stress, belief in a just world. These factors explain 33.5% of the variance in anger expression. It is necessary to reduce stress for anger adjustment. Social institutional efforts are also needed to increase the belief in a just world. And anger control programs are required, considering the differences in expressing anger according to sex.
